July 31, 20223 yr a true TV icon. and helped break a shitload of barriers. RIP pretty lady, you earned your rest.
July 31, 20223 yr One of my first childhood TV star crushes before I even had any idea what that was all about. She had it all. If I ever had a daughter I might have named her Nichelle. Such a cool name for such a cool lady. Tony Dow may be amply qualified to escort her inside the gates.
August 1, 20223 yr Her work (acting on Star Trek) was ground breaking and she seemed like she was all class from what little I have seen of her interviews and such. She seemed really grounded and cool.
August 1, 20223 yr A true legend. Her line in Undiscovered Country “Well the things gotta have a tailpipe” was perfect during the Battle Over Kitomer (right up there with Takei’s “FLY HER APART THEN!”) Her work in TOS made my pants tight. Edited August 1, 20223 yr by Bateshorn

She seemed really grounded and cool. She was the coolest of the cool. Went to a Star Trek convention deal a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away (yes I know Star Trek is not Star Wars. It’s in many ways superior) got an autograph. She was super nice. Many celebs aren’t into what (a) made them famous (they’ll continually bitch about that role or want to be seen as having done far better work) (b) can be shitty about autographs even at conventions. She was neither. Magnanimous, gracious, witty, cool and radiant. For a lot of us girls (though my time came during the reruns) she was the OG. Paved the way for everyone. You didn’t have to be a POC to love her she was accessible to all of us. So many great characters I grew up with…she was the GOAT and the OG.
