Kelvin Banks ran some with the third-team offensive line at left tackle as did D.J. Campbell.)

Is this Chip Brown's writing or did Campbell get LT reps?

I thought the same thing. Guessing it's his writing.

I read it as him getting LT reps - think the recruiting pitch involved him getting at least a look at tackle.

Yes, being here in the spring.

Not too far

Guilbeau being out due to personal reasons and Collins and Sweat running 3rd team for what I can only assume are non-football reasons is a great start to the season for a defense that has to make big strides in order for our team to be more than decent.

He was the only early enrollee. I'm sure we'll see plenty of other freshman on the 2nd team depth chart very soon.

Players better fix the issues related to Collins and Sweat running 3rd team -- otherwise all this "player-lead team" and  "culture is better" talk is just bullshit..

The Texas Longhorns opened training camp in the Texas heat on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for Steve Sarkisian’s second season leading the program.

Media received a viewing window of about 20 minutes. Here are a few -observations.

-We begin at quarterback, where Hudson Card took the first snap in almost every drill. He was then followed by Quinn Ewers, Maalik Murphy, Charles Wright, and Ben Ballard.

-Many of the quarterback drills in group work featured two quarterbacks throwing to two different receivers, so both of the top guys were able to throw to the No. 1 and No. 2 receivers.

-Our focus elsewhere made it tough to discern a running back pecking order but rest assured, Bijan Robinson still looks like a No. 1 guy. Keilan Robinson looked larger, especially after Jeff Banks said Tuesday that Robinson bulked up 12-13 pounds during the offseason. Jaydon Blue also showed his receiver skills during some drills.

-At wide receiver (X-H-Z), Isaiah Neyor, Jordan Whittington, and Xavier Worthy made up the top group with Neyor on the boundary and Whittington in the slot during drills. That trio was followed by Casey Cain, Tarique Milton, and Agiye Hall. The third group was Troy Omeire, Gabe Susler, and Parker Alford. Fourth was Paxton Anderson, Brenen Thompson, and Gus Asel. Fifth was Thatcher Milton, Hamilton McMartin, and Jaden Alexis — who had a sizable knee brace on. Savion Red was in the slot as the last guy in line. Brennan Marion was donning a cowboy hat and very active in coaching his receivers.

-The first offensive line (L-R) was Andrej Karic, Hayden Conner, Jake Marjos, Junior Angilau, and Christian Jones. The second offensive line was Jaylen Garth, Max Merril, Logan Parr, Cole Hutson, and Chad Wolf. The third offensive line was all freshmen. It went Kelvin Banks, Malik Agbo, Connor Robertson, DJ Campbell, Cam Williams.

-Jahleel Billingsley ended up with a limp after warmups and did not take part in the individual and group drills seen by media. Tight end went like this: Ja’Tavion Sanders, Gunnar Helm, Brayden Liebrock, Juan Davis, Patrick Bayouth, Nathan Hatter.

-On defense, the first team D-line (Jack-Nose-Tackle-Buck) was Barryn Sorrell, Keondre Coburn, Moro Ojomo, and Ovie Oghoufo. First team LBs were DeMarvion Overshown and Jaylan Ford. At boundary safety was Anthony Cook with Jerrin Thompson at free safety. Jahdae Barron manned STAR/nickel. Ryan Watts and D’Shawn Jamison were at corner.

-The second team D-line was Justice Finkley, Vernon Broughton, Byron Murphy, and Prince Dorbah. At middle linebacker behind them was David Gbenda and Jett Bush. Kitan Crawford and JD Coffey manned the two deep safety spots, with Michael Taaffe at STAR.

-Alfred Collins, T’vondre Sweat, DJ Harris, Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, Morice Blackwell, Devin Richardson, BJ Allen, and Austin Jordan were a handful of the players running with the third team. Luke Brockermeyer was seen during with a brace on and participating seemingly at full-go.

-In addition to the individual and group drills, there were several periods dedicated to special teams. Everyone but the linemen and quarterbacks were involved. In a slight alteration compared to last year, the entire group was split into four different platoons. Each platoon worked on some specific portion of special teams, whether it be blocking, gunning, or otherwise.

-During the punt portion, the platoons took turns in punt return and coverage. There was a healthy mix of first-string and backup players in each platoon, but Isaac Pearson at punter and Zach Edwards at deep snapper were the constants.

-Returners varied with each platoon, but Tarique Milton, Savion Red, and Xavier Worthy were seen at punt returner.

I don’t know if it was ever confirmed, but that was the rumor. This now the 2nd year of starting at the back of the pack. Is his attitude just that bad? Just wondering anyone bad any legitimate insights

Adding to this... two players who have a real chances to improve their draft positions in the NFL shouldn't want Scouts having concerns about character issues...

Is the problem with Collins a bad behavior issue? I had gotten the impression that he was one of our nice kids from a good family that didn’t have the dog in him necessary to play d-line.

You have to really love this game to do what it takes to excel at it. He doesn't.

A normal person wouldn't want to do it. It's insanity but some people are obsessed and those who are obsessed and possess great natural talent and ability become the great ones.

Well, that sucks. Hopefully there's a bear in there, too young to know what's up, and they're poking at him.
