Or maybe have a heart any buy a mower for your elderly parents that doesn't have a pull string start. I would've suggested just paying someone to mow for them, but my 80-year-old FIL would sooner commit seppuku than not mow his own yard.

When my ancient gas mower finally fell apart, I bought a rechargeable electric mower. It rocks. Can’t believe it took me that long.

What did you get? I bought a Dewalt that I've never been happy with.

Exactly what I was thinking, and what I'll do when the time comes. For now, I still have enough energy (and a small enough yard) to use the Stone Age mower.

Got a Ryobi.  Matches with my batter trimmer, which generates insane torque.

sticking with lasers…

So that guy in the bathroom stall at Home Depot was actually using a laser to clean a watch face?

Imma needs to put some sort of code that automatically redirects posts from WithoutAClue to the Bevoette or Facebook threads.

Once upon a time my mom had an electric mower that was not rechargeable. You had to mow with the thing plugged in. Guess who she asked to mow for her?

After the first time mowing and constantly moving the cord around, making sure not to mow over it, I was done. I told her that if that was what it took to save the world, it wasn't worth saving.

What was awkward was that her vibrator had the same setup.

She might have been hoping that you’d accidentally run over the cord.

After about a half hour, I considered doing it on purpose.

One of my outside extension cords has a couple of splices in it, from using the corded hedge trimmer.  Twice in 25 years, not bad.

I had one of those corded electric mowers. Lasted 6 months before I hired a gardener.

I make my gardeners use these:

100% carbon free,  Your rechargeable, self-righteous mower basically runs on coal when it's cloudy and calm.

Not this one.  I feed my servants organic, free-range vegan food.  All told, my estate is actually carbon-positive.  The bigger I make it, the more I save the plane.

As we pointed out a couple days ago, radar will pick up more than just weather. This is a loop from tonight showing all the bats leaving their caves in the hill country and all the bridges up and down I-35.

An online friend in California posted this very touching story yesterday….

Quote

The coolest thing happened yesterday. Terry and I were having lunch at Olive Garden.  There are pictures on the wall from Italy, two were of businesses.  I was using Google translate their signs when a guy walks by and asks if everything was alright.  He was the general manager, a young guy of about 30.  We start talking about Italy.  He says Olive Garden sent him there back in January.  If you’re a GM long enough they’ll send you!  They spent a week at the winery that provides their Chianti.

Then he told us this story.  His Great Grandfather was in the US Army and was shipped to Italy.  He was killed in battle his first month there.  His wife back home learned she was pregnant, but he never knew.  He was buried in a military cemetery in Italy.  This trip was the first time in 80+ years anyone in the family would visit.  They found the cemetery, they found the grave.  They cleaned the gravestone and photographed it and spent some time there with his Great Grandfather.

When he returned home he visited his Grandmother and showed her the photos of the grave of the father she never knew.

pretty good view of him putting his shoulder back in place.  very cool, but avoid if that sort of thing makes you squirm
