Well, that’s not the AP poll, so …

  • For anyone like me who sat in Texas Stadium in early December 2001, Chris Simms would be the last person I'd want to speak on the difficulty level of winning the Big 12.

A team led by Haynes King is ranked #6. Let that sink in.

I was at the NC State game. To call 13 generous is the understatement of the century. The coaches must have been watching the UNC game instead like everyone else.

Pitt didn't look like a #14 team either.  Thought Gata higher than #19 -- they played a great game...

We lost votes, didn't see that coming.

Probably has nothing to do with us and is due to teams like Florida going from unranked or low ranked to higher up based on week 1 wins. For example, Florida was unranked on all but two preseason ballots: https://collegepolltracker.com/football/team/florida-gators/2022

The AP voters are much more willing to make bigger changes in their ballots compared to the coaches.

Not as good as #15 Utah…apparently

Yeah we were ranked 27th with 164 points in the week 1 poll and 28th with 118 points in the week 2 poll.  Not sure why the Yahoo link is calling the week 2 poll the week 1 poll.

After the 1st 3 spots, next 8 or 9 teams could be listed in any order and be accurate...

Need 3-5 weeks to figure out just how good a lot of teams are...

I feel confident that after we beat Alabama this weekend that we'll be ranked going in to week 3.

I wonder how long it has been since Alabama lost to an unranked AP team. Maybe in that first year of the Saban era in 2006 when they lost to ULM?

AP poll?  Probably ULM.

"Unranked" - I think aggy was considered unranked.

Yep you’re right, aggy was unranked at the time last year they beat Bama. Forgot about that

Pitt and Oregon still ranked is crazy... Not sure Gata should fall all the way to #21.

K-State deserves to be ranked.

Lol. Kansas (and every other Big 12 team) looks better than aggy.

The Texas team that played yesterday would easily beat all the teams between them and the top 10.

West Virginia loudly singing Country Roads at you.

How can a sec team play two games poorly, lose one of those games, and still seriously get top 25 votes?

Above app. State too lol at least app state hasn't played a fcs team

Nevermind, sec

Let’s see what we do with Oklahoma, first.

Bama @ Arkansas and @ Tennessee and Georgia @ Kentucky could shake up some rankings in weeks to come. Bama not exactly road warriors last couple of years. Saban would say, “Get ready for ULM, you self absorbed assholes!”

Love to see us ranked. There aren't many teams in the Top 10 I'd have little confidence that we can beat after yesterday.

Aggy being ranked is going to take care of itself over the next few weeks. That team is really bad.

Look at Big Blue up with the big boys so early in the season.

Power ratings.  It's likely got some preseason weighting in it as well.

And Florida won by 3 at home. It's actually more defensible to have Utah ahead of Florida than vice versa at this point if you're publishing power ratings.

19th in the coaches poll

Agree...

But Texas #19 followed by aggy #20 is enjoyable... 😋

Did we...go down a spot?

That's weird. Ah well.
