According to radio personality Craig Miller of the Ticket in Dallas, Texas the second Tuesday in August at 2pm is the worst moment of the year. His rationale for this is the following:

August is the worst month - too hot, summer break is ending, no good sports on TV.

The second week of August is the worst week of August - first week still has a summer break feeling. Third and fourth week are close to football season starting.

Tuesday is the worst day of the week. Monday you're excited to talk about what happened last weekend. Wednesday is hump day. Thursday, Friday is close to the weekend.

2 pm is the worst time of day. After lunch. Tired, long time to the end of the day.

In preparation for this terrible moment, he recommends having full jars of urine for survival, some pizza on hand, and loved ones present.

Thoughts and prayers. Is your urine jarred properly?

why am i drinking my own urine? in what world do I live in where I have access to pizza but not water?

I'd change is slightly to the 45th day of 100-degree plus temperatures at 4 p.m.

By that time the week after week of heat has just ground you down. Yet in a really bad summer, there's still another month and a half of it to come. And 4 p.m. is the peak of the heat that day.
