Once you get past the bad acting and mumbling there should be plenty of guns and violence. I'll take that.

If you have any familiarity with Oklahoma City, it should be a fun series to watch. Most of it is being filmed in OKC.

That gas station at the 4 second mark is right across the street from the Farmer's Market. Not the best location in town. They have security there 24/7 to keep an eye on the place. According to one of the security guards I spoke with, they're planning on turning that into a tourist location to sell souvenirs if the show takes off like a Yellowstone or Soprano's.

Pretty strong pilot, especially considering it’s Stallone. Too early to rank it in the Sheridan Verse, but I bet more people watch Tulsa King than Mayor of Kingstown.

The premise sounds insane, but a few mafia experts say the Gambinos have planted their flag in New Orleans in recent years.

Why wouldn't they film it in Tulsa?

I've found Tulsa more enjoyable a place than OKC

Excellent pilot. Stallone was made for this role

you can already tell this is gonna be better than Yellowstone (which isnt hard to do. Mayor of kingstown and 1883 were both better).

My guess would be the former Myriad Convention Center - across from the Paycom Center - has been converted into a movie studio. The interior set for the bar is in there. Pretty impressive.

We did some exterior shots around downtown Oklahoma City. For example, the former newspaper building at NW 4th and Broadway was used as the Mayo Hotel for the series.

The Dispensary Gas Station is at 310 South Klein in OKC.

To say it's better than I expected is a massive understatement.

They did film some in Tulsa. The location production was split between Tulsa and OKC. They were shooting downtown right outside my building last summer.

They tried to get him but he was already committed to "The Baron of Broken Arrow" on Paramount Minus.

It's still kinda weird to see Stallone playing a tough guy at 76, but the part calls for that in a way.  Like what I'm seeing so far from the show.  Gonna binge it around Christmas when have more time.

You may have something there. He's already exceeded my expectations for his acting.  I know it was acting but those haymakers seemed pretty damn real.

Fun show.  Good cast.  I love the guy playing the weed store owner.  He was the best character on Silicon Valley.

I'll add one more location.

The crappy motel he checks into is the Catalina Motel at 4801 South Shields. They had plenty of crappy motels to choose from in Oklahoma City and did a fine job with this one.

I liked it well enough, lots of potential. I'm glad they finally made it downtown at the end but my guess is they're going to continue leaning heavily on the hicksville perception, as though shithole honky tonks are the only place to drink around here. The car dealership guy was bad too, I swear not everything around here is run by Boss Hog impersonators. I also hope they don't go too absurd with the medical marijuana business. I can assure you, there aren't any dispensaries holding $500K in cash. I'm worried they'll do with that business what Ozark did with the casino business, so far from reality that the absurdity is distracting. Also like Ozark, I hope the FBI and ATF plotline doesn't get too stupid. I liked that show early but the writing got really stupid towards the end. As for filming, they did a bunch in OKC because the state has supported them much more than Tulsa in attracting the film business. Tulsa has a bit of a legitimate complex when it comes to stuff like this because the legislature funds OKC initiatives much more heavily than they do Tulsa. Finally, Tulsa isn't completely anonymous to the mafia world. Whitey Bulger murdered Roger Wheeler at Southern Hills Country Club (where this year's PGA Championship was held) in the early 80's. We also have some bike gangs running opioids and doing other organized crime shit like most decent sized cities. I'll obviously continue watching, I read the plot will include that the NY people are going to go after him and he's setting up a Tulsa crew as protection, or something like that, could be interesting.

Yeah and the absolutely bonkers thing about the Whitey Bulger hit on Roger Wheeler was that it about skimming being done in professional Jai Alai.

Wheeler was a co-owner of the league and figured out the Winter Hill gang was embezzling and Bulger sent some guys to gun him down in the parking lot of Southern Hills. Fucking wild.

You should check out vids of Stallone working out at age 76.

Dude looks stronger than he's ever been.

I liked it but I felt like Sly was even more unintelligible than normal. That was kind of difficult for me to get past. I need to watch it again.

Do what I do.  You can set your TV so that anything that takes place in Oklahoma, refers to Oklahoma, or is shot in Oklahoma...subtitles automatically turn on.

I liked it! I mean you’ve gotta suspended some disbelief, but it’s a pretty good start.

Episode 2 might be Stallone’s Emmy episode. I’m getting more and more pissed off he didn’t do more mob stuff when he was younger.

Meanwhile, De Niro is pretending to beat up stunt men on Netflix.

Martin Starr is so deadpan funny. He’s perfect playing off Stallone. Tremendous casting.

Spoiler

The stuff with Dwight and his daughter is pretty factual. The Life causes family dysfunction. Pauline Walnuts was right to not take a wife and start a family.

I loved this episode and I'm in 💯 now. The weed scenes were hilarious and Sly was either definitely high or he's a much better actor than I had given him credit for. After watching the final scenes in this episode I'm thinking definitely the former. But this show is fun and interesting and good and I'm going to watch it until it is revealed that Dwight's daughter is a confidential fbi informant and it gets stupid like The Old Man.

Episode 2 even better than 1. If this keeps up (and I think it will) this will be greatness. Curious if Sheridan has TK envisioned as a limited series or multiple seasons. Gonna be hard to keep stumbling across old rivals in Oklahoma.

Makes sense.  Lots of great Italian places in New Orleans

Sly can act, great episode. The building in the background of the Center of the Universe is where I worked for 12 years and the parking garage is where I parked. The legend of that spot is real, there’s $5 million or so to make that spot much nicer as a destination. Hope it stays this good. The weed car scene was fun.

I am enjoying the shit out of it.  I don't know if it's Sheridan getting his groove back or having Winter running the show, but this is head and shoulders above Yellowstone and that steaming pile of shit 1883.

I'd give Stallone and Winter most of the credit. I'm guessing Sheridan is just a executive producer on Tulsa King.

Dig the show.

Dominick Lombardozzi is distracting with hair. lol

Can't wait for the KMOD teaser. Actually a decent rock station.

I guess they did it to make Herc look younger and more like his father? But yeah, it's a weird choice. It reminds me of this :

The first couple of episodes were pretty good. Not great, but enough to keep me around. Tonight's was very nice. I'm in.

My truck made it in the scene at the 10-minute mark where Stallone gets picked up at the hotel (gray truck behind the Caprice).

So this is clearly my favorite episode so far.

Digging the show.  Stallone is crushing it. Just realized that Stacey is Dr Angelface from Step Brothers

Man I was trying to figure that out. I thought it was the bar owner girl from Ozark and couldn't figure out why IMDb was lying to me.

Also easy call out if you follow Sly on IG/Twitter was that the server at the restaurant in the beginning of E3 when he sees the white horse is one of his daughters.

"You think anyone really gives a shit about what your major is? English literature, biology, whatever. The whole point of a college degree is to show a potential employer that you showed up some place, four years in a row, completed a series of tasks reasonably well and on time, so if they hire you there's a semi decent chance that you'll show up there every day and not fuck his business up."

"That's what you think college is all about?"

"That and drinking beer and getting laid"

Damn. Fucking brilliantly said.
