December 6, 20241 yr Offered him a restructured contract containing a reduced salary, more stringent reporting structure-whatever that means, He has to give them an answer by 5 today.
December 6, 20241 yr At OSU Gundy had a streak of 18 years of winning records, 17 years of appearing in the AP poll, 5 of last 10 years had 10+ win seasons.... 1st year where NIL really showing it's impact and suddenly they realize they don't have enough funds for both a good coach and good players. The minute they fire him (they will, they seem to have to now)... they won't have either.

December 6, 20241 yr Whoa. The plot thicks. What could oSu possibly have on Gundy that they're confident enough to say "sign this reduced contract or we're gonna fire you & not pay you a dime"?

December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Little known fact: The 2007 "I'm a man, I'm 40" speech was about Alan Bowman.
December 6, 20241 yr I don't think they're trying to for cause him, they're giving him an opportunity to have NIL funds and use them(he hates NIL). Seems like they want they're coach to recruit and be in the year 2024 of college football.
December 6, 20241 yr I don’t think it’s as dramatic as it sounds but shit is definitely happening. And you all know that Bowman post is from a parody account, right? He’s been posting his farewells on Instagram all week. Edited December 6, 20241 yr by 'stache
December 6, 20241 yr Nakos' source sounds like someone in the AD or BOT's office. Thamel sounds like he's getting it from someone in Gundy's camp. SOURCE OFF
December 6, 20241 yr Firing for cause because he won't break the existing contract and sign a new one? LOL, that's rich. That's like being arrested for resisting arrest.

December 6, 20241 yr If they have cause there wouldn't be a negotiation, he'd be gone. Even with possible cause I think Gundy tell them to go fuck themselves see you in court.

He's been notoriously stubborn about coordinators. The one thing that would have me joining the mob against him would be if he were to look to DII for coordinators again. The Nardo hire really bit him in the fucking ass. The last credible rumor I saw was that the AD or administration gets a say in the coordinator hire. If that sets him off, I'm fine with us parting ways. Otherwise I agree, you don't fire him for a bad season.

Or that Gundy resented Holgy getting so much credit for the offense's output in 2010. Or maybe Gundy was just pissed that Holgy was living in the Atherton, getting drunk and banging coeds in the bars in Stilly and missing all of the mandatory 8AM staff meetings.

My recollection is that he was hiring car services to take him to the casinos to drink and bang sluts and that's why we loved him. My intel is from an oSu alum who claimed Gundy tried to steal his date from him at a frat mixer back in the day. He's maintained the family's season tix since the '70s and has had mostly a hate/love attitude towards MG as coach.

Five of those losses were blowouts and in the last game against Colorado, it looked like they had quit and were just going through the motions. T. Boone Pickens isn't rising up from the grave to save the day and it looks like the administration and a lot of the fan base want him gone. It could go either way, but I would lean to him being gone. He won't take a pay cut. Fun fact is that T. Boone's daughter from his second marriage Liz, attended UT. I had classes with her and got to know her. I asked her why she didn't go to OSU and she kind of rolled her eyes at me. She said it was easy to pick between UT and OSU and even easier to pick between Stillwater and Austin. Last I heard she did what she said she was going to do and became an art appraiser in New York City.

December 6, 20241 yr So this all reads like the oSu admin really, REALLY wants to move on from MG. But they sure as fuck don't want to pay him a Jimbo-lite severance on the way out. Now they're trying to force him to take a hometown discount while keeping their boosters lathered up with the promise of spending the money on NIL. Plus Gundy's gonna have to agree to input from others (read: we're hiring your staff) for the vacant coordinator positions. And likely been told he has to make a bowl game in '25 or he's gone. -- the preceding opinion was not brought to you by a mother. Of children.
