February 1Feb 1 Quote the new contract requires Gundy to participate in "identifying, evaluating and developing a potential successor to facilitating a smooth transition of the program to the new coach" at the request of AD Chad Weiberg, according to The Oklahoman. In other words, "you've got a HCIW on your staff, Mike. Make sure he knows where the keys to the locker room are." Are we sure Gundy didn't get his freak on with some high up's wife or daughter? Shitty season aside, it sure looks like they're ready to cut bait from coach mullet.

They returned most of their starters and completely shit the bed this year. He isn’t even trying in recruiting and Gundy has done nothing to organize an NIL effort. He basically quit on the job and this is the AD putting him on notice.

He basically quit on the job and this is the AD putting him on notice. With all the returning starters for 2024, as well as a potential Heisman Top 5 RB entering the season, what in the Hell happened to the Pokes last year? With the two departures, I for sure thought that they, along with ISU and BYU, were locks to contend for the B12 title.Hook’em!!!
February 1Feb 1 Defense had some really key injuries though they shouldn’t have been so bad. Experienced offensive line played like absolute shit and is what I can’t explain. I read that the old OL coach Charlie Dickey was literally mailing it in and was an asshole and there was criticism of Gundy for not canning him earlier, but who knows, that was on the message board. Gundy wasn’t mailing it in nor will he going forward. He’s also not been as hostile to the new rules as people say, he’s openly hated it like other coaches, but has also discussed how he’s using the portal and nil. Saying to not ask for more money mid season is reasonable imo. His approach though had to change and it will. His successor isn’t on campus right now. Doug Meacham would be closest if he succeeds as OC but he’s a few years older than Gundy and has never been a HC. If he gets the position in the next 4 years it’ll be a gap hire. His son Gunner is on staff now as QC something or other but he’s has a long way to becoming a head coach. I always assumed he was on the roster to learn coaching. Cooper Bassett and Andrew Mitchell came back as OL coaches but also need more experience for HC consideration. The most popular choice would be Zac Robinson, he might be ready in a few years if he succeeds in Atlanta, but if so he might end up NFL HC before Gundy retires and would be hard to get him to move to college. The contract language says he’ll help the AD “identify” etc a new coach so I don’t think that person is currently on campus. But we’ll see, I know we’ll be better next year, but no idea how much better. If not he’ll probably just step down and take the $15 mil.
February 1Feb 1 Who gets fired first, him or Venables? My money is on Brent, but he keeps fucking shit up so he will probably fuck this up as well.

April 3Apr 3 His idea of a Bedlam spring scrimmage sounds like a terrible idea. Fans would read way too much into it and the players, mostly backups, would probably get too chippy. Maybe if they agreed to make it a true scrimmage, like running sets or situations and not full blown drives, no scorekeeping, and basically a practice session for reps. Maybe that's what he was proposing, but the headlines and blurbs made it sound like a spring game.

Absolutely nothing.

It doesn't count towards season statistics, but just play a legit full game. Why the fuck not.

And knowing the newer generation of OSU fans they'd be calling for firings for losing a spring scrimmage to ou. If it's drills subject to the same conditions as intrasquad practices intended to limit injuries, fine. Putting a rivalry into it makes zero sense. Why risk injury?

The last I remember Robinson was the Halloween night game against Texas in 2009. A lot of people pointed to it as the potential for a replay of the TT game the year before (it wasn’t). Halfway through the third quarter, after Earl Thomas had baited Robinson into throwing his second pick six of the night, the camera showed Gundy and Robinson talking on the sideline. Clearly, Gundy was asking him the “Tell me what you saw” question and Robinson answered. Gundy was silent for a moment as he pondered what Robinson said. Then, he called running plays for most of the rest of the game.
August 22Aug 22 Why Mike Gundy is keeping quiet on Oklahoma State football depth chart before opener https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/football/why-mike-gundy-is-keeping-quiet-on-oklahoma-state-football-depth-chart-before-opener/ar-AA1KYu6Z?ocid=BingNewsSerp Not aware of high turnover at okie lite... here's part of above article Quote Cowboys faced difficulty building culture As he discussed the impact of strength coordinator Rob Glass and his summer workouts on the program, Gundy mentioned that the team “had more issues over the summer than we’ve ever had.” Asked to clarify the type of issues he was talking about, Gundy pointed to the challenge of building culture in a program with 62 new players, more than half of whom only arrived in June. “It’s difficult here,” Gundy said. “The training you go through, the tests, physical tests, cardio tests, strength room. It’s just not easy. Everything has to be on the up and up and there’s a demand for the way that we do it here. It takes time and guys are not accustomed to that. “When you get new players in, they have to learn. We had issues that we wouldn’t normally have because forever, guys that were in the June and July training program were with us. They were accustomed to the system.” Cowboys were ‘very physical in camp’ Gundy suggested at Big 12 media days that this would need to be a more physical preseason camp than usual, because of the need to determine who can contribute to the team among all the new players. But Gundy chose not to push the physicality quite so deep into camp. “We were very physical in camp,” he said. “We actually backed off a little bit earlier than normal, because I felt like we were in a position that we should be. Every year. It's different based on who you are and who your players are and what the maturity is. “I was able to get a pretty good feel for our football team over the first two weeks, maybe the first 12 practices or so.” Gundy’s take on injury reports The Big 12 recently announced that it will require teams to release player availability reports — a.k.a. injury reports — in the days leading up to every conference game in football and men’s and women’s basketball. Gundy says the idea isn’t finalized, so he opted not to comment on it. But Iowa State and Kansas State released injury reports Wednesday for their opening game in Ireland this weekend. “I don’t know much about it. I know it’s not done,” Gundy said. “I did hear yesterday that that’s not in stone yet. I’m not sure what’s going on with that. I’ll cross that bridge if I have to. “If they ask us to do it, I’ll do whatever they ask us to do.”

August 25Aug 25 I'm calling 8-4 this year. I wouldn't put money on it but I think a big turnaround is on deck. I had orange juice for breakfast lol.

September 2Sep 2 I thought this was going to be about his back and forth with Lanning about NIL and generous benefactors.
September 2Sep 2 Haha! The conversation was about his first few starts at QB and he mentioned going to Lincoln when it was sleeting and he was bundled up while the Nebraska D-Line guys still had their half-jersey's with exposed bellies. Kinda funny.
September 3Sep 3 I guess Gundy forgot that he and OSU had perhaps the biggest sugar daddy in the sport for a long time.

September 6Sep 6 I figured Oregon would win, but I did not expect them to go in dry, balls deep. Wow.
September 6Sep 6 Gundy had a remarkable run playing 2nd fiddle in a small state, but clearly he's cooked. They didn't win a single conference game last season and judging by the start they're off to this season they might not win many this season.
September 6Sep 6 Normally, there's nothing more pathetic than a coach laying the ground work of excuses for why they're going to lose to the press before the game--even when it was some DII college team playing a Saban Bama team--but apparently Gundy didn't lay it on thick enough.
September 6Sep 6 They've got nothing to offer to recruits other than to be developed & snatched up by a school with means in 1-2 years. But why go & get your shit kicked in on national TV (occasionally) & risk your health in the process? They're not competitive now, and if they finish in the bottom half of the conference again they'll be irrelevant.
September 6Sep 6 Maybe going forward, dipshit will shut his mouth when playing an opponent that outmatches him in talent. Probably not but I hope Dan Lanning gets to 100.
