September 23Sep 23 We probably do not need two threads dedicated to Mike Gundy on a Texas fan site. I think we should have one thread for the entire forum. Anything over that is way too much.
September 23Sep 23 987,643,252 "I'm a man" jokes for the rest of the week is gonna be awesome. Hilarious.

Whether you like him or hate him he's still a known personality. No way he enters politics. He could say all the right things for this red state and he'd still be hated by more than half the state because he built his reputation at OSU and not OU. Hell, Cale Gundy has a better chance at being elected, he'd fit right in with today's climate.
September 23Sep 23 Low rent by OSU brass. Should have let him come out and say "I am retiring after this year". If they did offer that, and he said no, then this is justified.

OSU can find out who is really committed to the program, moving forward.

September 23Sep 23 Two P4 coaches fired by week 5 is pretty wild. Shows you just how awful UCLA and OSU are.
September 23Sep 23 I think it's highly likely that they wouldn't be able to do this midseason without a donor group having committed to funding the buyout and the same donor group committing to fund an NIL package for the next coach. The AD Chad Weiberg has been on the hot seat too, his contract expired this summer and has not yet been extended, though he's still on the job. My guess is that he did the hard work since Friday making those calls and getting it put together and saved his own position. Some are speculating that AD Emeritus Mike Holder stepped in and got it done in which case Weiberg would certainly be let go later this week. The fact that Weiberg's photo is on one of the official announcements from the school makes me think he got it done including getting some donors on board. All speculation at this point but the Tulsa World reported this morning before the Gundy news that insiders expected a decision on Weiberg by tomorrow.
September 23Sep 23 Why? He didn't do shit there. Gundy nearly played for a national title during an era before the playoffs.

I bet he'd make a fine TV analyst. Edited September 23Sep 23 by Brian Fantana

Right. I don't really follow half the shit some of you guys get bent out of shape over, this Gundy stuff included, but seeing someone act incredulous over the notion that people checked out during that psychotic year of dystopian bullshit is fucking comical. All of the political whining, fear-mongering and potshotting about Gundy's personal views is fucking boring, as usual. It comes up every.fucking.time.he's.mentioned. The guy is a character who will say both funny and idiotic shit about football and would be awesome if given a slot on one of the CFB platforms. While not true of the demographics of this site, for the most part, most viewers would find him entertaining and not give one shit about viewpoints he espoused 5+ years ago. It's a given that he's a clown. That has been known and mocked about him for 2 decades. He had a fucking mullet for years, for Christ's sake.
