Vegas has O/U on season wins at 4.5.

I don’t think we’ll blow by that number or anything but I think we’ll surprise some people. We’re going to be pretty good on defense, I think. Often that is enough to move from ‘total suck’ to ‘mediocrity.’

This is correct. The Texans began when I was 25 (and lived in Austin). I’ve never really cared about them one way or another. If everything were exactly the same except they wore Columbia blue and had

I think they win 7 or 8 games if they can stay relatively healthy. They don’t have a lot of depth.

We’re 19th in Strength of Schedule. Jags may get better under new leadership, but I don’t think the Colts necessarily took any big steps forward.

Running game looks much better, and if we can run and play good D, no reason not to have a sliver of optimism.

Can't wait to see Pierce steamroll some dudes.

The Colts took a huge step forward imo with the QB position. They have good skill level players and a decent defense. I think the Colts have a chance to win the division as I don’t think the Titans will be as good this year.

Cut day to get to the 53 man roster. Notables so far: Marlon Mack, Russ Blacklock traded to Vikings, Jeff Driskel (finally). Flush Eric Murray and Scharping and we’ll have gotten rid of every horrible player picked by BOB and Preacher Jack. Texans should sign Sony Michel who was just released.

Wow, what a spectacular flaming bag of shit the 2019 draft was - that Lonnie Johnson/Sharpring/Kahle Wahring stretch was especially impressive.  Howard has actually turned out to be fairly reliable (Andre Dillard is riding the pine after 3 years in Philly) though I bet we could have got Tytus in the 2nd round. Blacklock a complete bust early in the 2nd round in 2020; at the time I was pissed that we dealt our other 2nd round that year for Cooks, though he’s turned out to be solid….

DE Derek Rivers out for the season with a torn bicep.  He’d been having a strong preseason as a pass rusher.  If you’re hoping for the Texans to tank this season resulting in getting the first or second pick in the draft, this will help. *I posted this in the 2021 thread ‘cause of dumbassery.

Pierce and Pitre both look awesome. If Sting and Green can get close to meeting expectations it could be a really good 2022 draft class.

Definitely an awkward year - either want to completely bust and pick up Stroud or Young or show meaningful progress. The worst would be 5-6 wins. Enough to be out of the QB race but not enough to feel good.

Took the boy to training camp a few weeks ago.  You could spot right away that Pierce was the dude.  Also Tunsil is a mountain, he stuck out from everyone.

Texans picker up Tyler Johnson off the waiver wire. Good pickup at a need position.

Nice first half. We scored a total of 3 points in both of our games against the Colts last year. Jerry Hughes has been a very nice pickup making big plays.

Defense looks much improved; you’re right, Jerry Hughes was a great pickup….

Great read and throw from Mills.

Mills to Howard looking great. Another undervalued signing. Bills cut this guy last week, damn their TE room must be stacked.

Jon Weeks is still our deep snapper. Damn, he's had a nice career.

Davis Mills looks fucking amazing.

Caserio might know what he’s doing. And it’s nice to have a legitimate head coach.

Getting OJ Howard for a bag of footballs was impressive. Well done Caserio.

Are the Texans good?

I might listen to 975 ESPN all day tomorrow to see how they spin this. Mills/Texans sucks is in the station’s mission statement.

Maybe not the worst team in the league good, but I still can't get over that ESPN article that ranked every Texans position group except CB, in the bottom 5.

I think Caserio had a great off-season, and Pep Hamilton was a great hire at OC. Davis Mills was the #1 HS QB in his class, and he ran a pro system at Stanford. Him leaving a year early really helped the Texans. They wouldn't have gotten him in the past draft.

posted this in another Texans thread, it's worth a watch and made me a fan of Caserio.

If one half of good defense wasn’t enough to convince you we’re clearly Super Bowl material, then maybe this will:

If they don’t have to bring their first pick next year on a QB, that would be huge!

Hell of a defensive stand there.

We know how this goes.

The passing before the half was also crazy reckless.

Damn, damn. That was the worst time for a strip sack. Need a long drive here to eat the clock.

Tunsil fucked that up big time.

The OL still can't get any push on running plays.

Getting gashed by the running

Like clockwork.

Jeez

You couldn't write up a better Houston Texans script.

To tell the truth, I’d prefer to lose every game but in a competitive manner. They’re not winning anything this year and could use another big draft. One of the QBs, if needed, or Anderson would be nice.

OL and skill talent is a much bigger need.

They’re at least entertaining to watch with young talent that you can root for unlike the past couple of seasons. Mills has been inaccurate the past few series. Needs to be on the money here in OT.

I know they need to lose, but these losses are the worst. Legit chance to win and just pisses it away.
