Barrel in the middle of the street, probably the best they could do.  Bicyclists of course have their own set of rules.

Yeah, she's cute.  But not brand new Chevy cute.  Maybe 10 year old Toyota cute.

I'd take the 10-year old Toyota over the brand new Chevy.

Do you live in a 1960's cottage?  Did they forget to ground the fan?!?

Actually, near as we can tell, the place was built in 189x. There was neither running water nor electricity at the time. No one forgot to ground the wiring when it was added.

I bought a new Chevy Tahoe last year, one of the higher packages. At just over 10,000 miles, the engine completely blew. Catastrophic engine failure. Got the money back, bought an upgraded 4runner and used the rest on travel. Best decision I ever made.

Low key humble brag on upgrading to the shitty 6.2L motor.

The NHTSA is investigating potential engine failures in an estimated 877,710 General Motors trucks and SUVs equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 L87 engine, stemming from numerous complaints of catastrophic engine failures.

My 5300 v8 Silverado runs great and has plenty of power to tow my RV all over the country. I never got the appeal of the 6.2 and glad I didn't get one of those now.

Mine also doesn't have the cylinder deactivation stuff that can cause problems because it was built during the microchip shortage.

Yeah don't like that cylinder shut of feature. Direct Injection is supposedly causing problems also, but what I don't get about the valvetrain failures & etc. associated with the cylinder shutoff/fuel saving thing (AFM/DFM, they turn off valve lifters to shut off 4 cylinders more or less) is they've been using it on cars for years.

Always wanted a Toyota but I typically buy 3/4 ton trucks (don't get me started on diesel engines holy fuck)

Wow I didn't know about this. You can also turn that off completely, I helped a buddy get his ECU or whatever flashed to turn that off completely. As I recall it cost us about $200.

Every vehicle built in the 2020-23 era or so should be avoided.

Yup, OEMs considerably lowered their quality standards during the chip shortage.

Just got the 3.0 diesel ZR2 last fall. Love it. Getting 22 rolling 75 mph. 7k trailer down to 12 which is way better than 8 with my old 6.2.

Yep, as soon as it happened I found a few random websites and Reddit posts complaining about issues with the the new 6.2. Dealer wanted to replace the engine and give me my car back and I immediately noped out and bought the 4Runner.

It's so bad, apparently, they don't have enough engines to replace them with.  https://gmauthority.com/blog/2025/02/gm-cant-keep-up-with-6-2l-v8-engine-replacements/

So as someone with a 22 Sierra with this exact motor (who loves his truck btw), what do you do? Trade it on something? Cross your fingers?

Disable the AFM/DFM with a reflash

Maybe a 3rd party extended warranty is actually worth it for you if you like the truck.  However, my last truck was a 2020 Silverado Trail Boss with the 6.2L and I kept it until 170K, no issues.  Got lucky.
