I used to go beer drinking with a Vietnamese American kid from Angleton when I was in grad school.  His parents and older siblings came over direct from Vietnam.  The parents spoke Vietnamese with all the kids.  My buddy had the thickest redneck hick American accent you ever heard.  Pure Southeast Texas.  It was awesome watching people's eyes get big as saucers when he ordered his Milluh Lahts.

When I started my undergrad at UH there was an Asian kid named James who we all called "Asian Cowboy" because of his super thick country accent. We would be at the Den(the bar on campus) and whenever we ran into him he would be like, "Howdy! Howur yuu?! Hey bartendah, I'll have a Kers Light!" Also because he dressed in button downs, jeans, cowboy boots and wore a cowboy hat every single day. Even had a giant belt buckle and had been on the rodeo team in high school. Always made every international Asian student double take with wide eyes every time he talked.

I may know this guy?  Used to cross paths with a fellow here post law school who was born in Korea, adopted by a good white Southern Baptist family.  Raised to camp, hunt, all that good stuff.  Always with the pearl snap button shirts, ropers and legit cowboy hat.  He had tamed his accent.  But he was a hell of a two-stepper.  All the girls at Adair's loved him.  I remember he had someone made contact with his birth mom, who was in the north Dallas suburbs and had a Korean grill.  We all went together and it was great.  I probably couldn't find it on a map now if my life depended on it.

Ohh, you meant a romanticized well-behaved child in a permanent state of the kind of wonder actual children achieve three or four times a year.

I rest one foot with my weight on the shelf underneath the cart. I use my other foot to kick the cart forward like a skateboard.

I swore on behalf of the dad when the kid hit him with a hammer. That one looked like it hurt.

It did. But it also made me laugh out loud.

Learned this one when I was about five or six...

Bullshit.

FedEx: Your package is in the shipment process (someone printed a label)

(four days later) Your package is in route!

(moves from Atlanta to Los Angeles in two days).

(three days later) Your package is out for delivery!

(next day) Your package has been delivered... to a regional USPS facility for final delivery.

(later that month) "WTF did I order??"

You get a text at 5:17 pm on the day of delivery: “Your package has been delivered.

Next morning: package is delivered.
