So the men's title is decided tonight and women's tomorrow?

We're expecting a close finish for the men and a romping for the women?

Yes though from what I understand Leo's personal record in the decathlon gave the men a little separation.

Yes but a 7 point win projection looks a lot closer than the women’s 23 point win projection. 7 points looks like 1 or 2 things going against us could knock us to 2nd. Either way, gonna be a fun week for Texas -

Softball 2nd place and 4th NCAA runner up finish this year

Potentially our 5th and 6th NCAA titles this year on Fri/Sat

Hopefully closing out a CWS trip tomorrow

Has anyone considered how all of these championships may be negatively affecting our football team?

correct.  all the men's finals are today and women are tomorrow.

men is going to be razor thin and the difference between finishing 4th and 3rd in a particular race could be the difference at this point.  florida is definitely the biggest threat.  georgia should be on the outside looking in unless they win all of their events.

women still have a lot to contend with from florida, kentucky, lsu, and tamu but we qualified a shitload of finalists and look good.

The women qualified a lot to finals and they coasted in the semifinals. They looked very comfortable and have another gear.

In a few of those races they were going about 70%.

Florida is relying on Anna Hall to get them a lot of points. She's in the heptathlon, 400 hurdles, and will likely be in the 4x4 finals relay.

Not sure how much she will have left in the tank after the heptathlon.

For Florida to have a chance on the women's side they need Hall to finish 1st in the hep, top 3 in the 400 hurdles, and then help Florida finish near the top in the 4x4.

That's a lot of pressure and especially after doing the heptathlon.

Texas has much more cushion to work so Floreal decided to sacrifice the 100 with Flannel yesterday.

Flannel is running the 4x1 relay and her better event is the 200. I was worried Flannel might have been injured in the 100 yesterday but it's clear that Floreal decided to prioritize her placing high in the other two events instead of pushing to be on the bubble for the finals in the 100.

obviously you can't really count on prelims as dispositive but if florida finishes anywhere near the top of the 4x400, that probably means that everyone from kentucky, tamu, arkansas, and texas died in a tragic accident.  she should finish 1, 2 or 3 in 400m hurdles.

it looks like florida might score a lot of points off hept with two off to a good start.

#423

Florida has two that are projected to finish 1st and 8th in the hep so that wouldn't really move the needle based on points.

As long as Blazevica for Texas finishes near the top.

Also, quite the testament to Florida’s men’s speed that we have a 20-0 head start on them going into today and yet suspect it will be a photo finish for first.

They have more runners in finals.

If Texas wins the championship on the men's side it's because of shot put, decathlon, long jump and maybe the triple jump. The winning team may score under 40 total points and Texas will get at least 20 from those events.

The men's side will likely come down to the 400 and 4x4. Jones (Texas) and Allison (Florida) battling for a top 3 finish in the 400 and both will likely be the anchors in the 4x4.

This was a smart race by Leo.

Knew he wasn't going to finish first but Garland needed to beat him by 5 or 6 seconds to finish ahead. You can see Leo smile at the end because Garland is barely in front of him.

Macaiah has to shore up the 10 points in the 200m.  if that happens, then you're right that it will come down to finishing order in 400m and 4x400 (unless the 4x100 finds something extraordinary or stacy jumps out of his shoes on the triple).

Need more speed. . 2nd and 3rd legs have to be better

Brennen Thompson is on campus.  He’s fast.  What do you need to run to be on an elite college 4x100 relay?  I have no idea.

The next event that will involve Texas or Florida will be the 100.

Florida has two in the 100 finals and Texas has nobody in that event.

Advantage? aggy

That was not a horrible 4x100 outcome for us. We held serve there. Have to perform in 200, 400, and 4x400.

Chance for points in the 800 also.

But those are the events we need to score big in.

triple jumper has one attempt to even get a score

It was an outside chance he would get us points but a couple points would be nice.
