This is going to be closer than expected because the sprints didn't qualify as many as expected to finals. Unfortunately, I don't think Simon is healthy which probably also played a role in her not running the 200. Simon didn't look right at all running the 400.

Think this will actually come down to Arkansas and Texas.

We need Alred to have a big day. Needs to win the 60, needs to finish 1st or 2nd in the 200, and needs to help us finish 1st or 2nd in the relay.

Tobias finishes 6th in the 800. Needed better there but that was an expected result.

Think Arkansas might win this. Needed more sprinters in the finals.

Yeah, Arkansas is going to win this barring a miracle.

Sigh the difference is going to be Simon (Texas) and Valby (Florida) not being healthy. Also, some serious luck with several runners not entering the mile to run the 3000 or Gregory wouldn't have finished as high.

54 Arkansas 52 Texas headed to the relay. Oh boy.

Sucks because I don't think Simon is healthy enough to run in this relay but maybe she does. So annoying that so many of the top runners didn't enter the mile and allowed Gregory to finish 2nd.

If Texas finishes 1st in the relay and Arkansas 2nd it would finish tied at 62. I don't know what the tiebreaker is.

If Texas finishes 1st and any other result other than 2nd for Arkansas, I believe Texas would win it all. Buckle up because Texas and Arkansas have the top 2 relay teams.

The relay starts in 13 minutes on ESPN+.

Not sure who Texas will run but they would be the favorites if Simon was fully healthy.

I can’t find that that’s happened before. There’s been ties for 2nd and they’re both runner-up.

A blog I found from 2017/2018 said there’s no tie breaker procedure for T&F. Wild if so

Arkansas wins. Just unfortunate Simon wasn't healthy.

Should probably stop making grand predictions that we are favorites, everything going right for us, etc leading up to it. Ya jinx

64 Arkansas 60 Texas

Texas must think they're jinxed on the women's side. If Simon was healthy that's a 8-15 more points for Texas. Then if more of the top runners enter the mile and Gregory doesn't finish 2nd that's another 4 to 6 point swing.

Talking a 12-21 point swing because of random/unlucky shit not going their way.

They were the favorites and the women's team has to feel they're jinxed based on what happened in this meet.

They were 12-20 points better than Arkansas if not for some terrible luck.

The main thing is keeping Simon, Smith and Alfred healthy.

If those 3 are peaking at the right time they can score a ton of points and essentially win a title for Texas by themselves.

Fucking sigh.

Coach Flo sandbagged the Big12 meet for nothing....

It's still the right strategy. Luck eventually balances itself out.

Just won the 6A shot with a throw of 65’11.5” in less than ideal conditions.

Hoping the Watkins kid comes for football but focuses on track. Junior just repeated as 200 champ.

How we shaping up for today?

Went as expected and Simon was back to running like her normal self. I'm just hoping the women's team can finally be healthy for the NCAA Championships for once.

Something was clearly off (injury-wise) with Simon at the Indoor Championships because she's once again running much faster. It has to be frustrating for Texas because if Simon was running the times she was at the Big 12 championships, Texas would have won the Indoor Championship.

Texas women romped today, won the title by 70 points over OU. Tech men beat us for the title by over 50 points.

Get down to Lake Belton. Know anything about that dude?

Leo Neugebauer was first in the 100 meters at 10.61, a personal best I believe.

This is an amazing time for someone his size.  I cannot find his height and weight but I am guessing 6'4 230.  Does anyone know?

I thought they said he was 6'7" on ESPN.  Personal best in the 400 also and the overall lead after Day 1.

The Princeton guy that was a big favorite in the pole vault just went out tied for 6th.  He somehow was getting disoriented and kept not getting far enough forward...he almost came down short of the mat on his last attempt.

I'm surprised no one else has posted this already.

Texas Track and Field came out with a hype video, and it's as good as any hype video I've seen for any sport at Texas. It put goosebumps on my goosebumps.

Leo Neugebauer wins the Decathalon.  New personal bests in numerous events.
5 PB's in a row
He broke the collegiate record by 116 points
He is coming back next year.   Hook 'em!

The men's team will be set up well for next year. Maybe not a national championship caliber team but they will challenge for it if they land a top transfer or 2.

Ackelia Smith needed a big jump to even qualify for the final nine on her 3rd attempt. Then she had a huge jump on her final attempt to win the Long Jump.

Feels like a defining moment for a team that hasn't been able to get over the hump. Ice in her veins.

Not sure what Texas was doing in the 4x400. Probably going to be a protest and not sure how they will rule. Could be a DQ.
