What the fuck does this even mean? So Sark is going to throw Quinn to the wolves tomorrow if he shouldn't be playing to... help his draft stock?

"Man I didn't love QE as a prospect but seeing him lose against Texas atm really changed my mind"

He’d have cover this time. Sitting an injured player shouldn’t hurt either draft stock or legacy.

This.  Pure fucking idiocy that is also about par for the course for this board.

Fact: A month ago he pulled the guy in the biggest home game in almost two decades with every NFL team in attendance. I’m sure his legacy and NFL draft status were just sky high as Arch trotted on the field in the second quarter.

Tomorrow might be the Arch show if what I’m hearing is true Regardless, Texas A&M is going down

What’s this about?  Was this guy born yesterday?

Sometimes we really do give texags a run for their money, but they always beat us on volume.

Sark has a strong preference for Quinn as he is much more experienced and supposedly less mistake prone.  As long as he thinks Quinn can do the minimum, he will ride him.  But Sark knows this game simply must be won, and will make choices against this criteria.

Quinn has the made of glass knock, and missing another game due to another injury would be noticed. As would playing poorly. So if he goes, he has better play decently as far as his draft stock goes. Not that it could move too much at this point anyway.

Does anyone know if Quinn has practiced much this week?

I would assume that qb1 gets the start unless the doctors or qb1 say he cant go.

Hopefully he/the offense is effective but if not there is a capable backup qb with a couple games worth of experience.

Let’s just have the OL man up and dominate, that way either qb can shine.

This.  People keep pointing to the Kentucky game that was never in doubt as evidence that Sark wouldn't pull Quinn if he's ineffective this Saturday.  If he's ineffective and we have a 10 point lead and can run at will (as long as we hang onto the ball) then they are probably right.  If we fall behind and can't move the ball because Quinn is immobile and can't plant/throw I have no doubt he'll make a move (just like he tried against UGA).

Good lord, start Trey Owens, I don't care.  I just want to time travel to Saturday at 6:30 PM and get this fucking show on the road.

Yeah - I’ve been critical of Quinn this year and agree this is a bizarre and misguided sentiment. Quinn is the only QB on our roster who’s been in this kind of environment and that definitely matters.

Jesus is there a fucking carbon monoxide leak in this thread? I guess you'd rather go on the road in the first round of the CFP instead of getting a bye and needing two wins* to play for a national championship.

You still need 2 wins to play for national championship if you get a bye

Maybe not for playoffs.  But losing to aggy would matter to a few of us

While that's all true, it's still not technically a must win for Texas like it is for aggy. We are in the playoffs pretty much no matter that at this point. Yes, we would get a lower seed and a harder path but we are in regardless.

The worst case scenario is winning tomorrow but losing in the championship game to Georgia. You played that extra game for absolutely nothing. Still needing to go on the road and getting no bye in between.

The worst case scenario is losing to aggy and then having to watch them play UGA for the SEC championship. Do you really think that if we lost to UGA that we'd be going "Damn, too bad we didn't lose @ aggy instead"?

You play an extra game but Texas would almost assuredly get a home playoff bid.

If Texas can't beat atm tomorrow then I have a hard time believing we win four straight games in the playoff starting on the road.

Also - even if you don't give a shit about any of that - it's a must win because it's aggy and it's our first game against them in 13 seasons.

Lose this game and it is probably the 8/9 game. Based on current rankings that is Georgia vs Tenn. Being in the 8/9 slot sucks

Beating Aggy always matters.  The stakes are high.

Win and we are in the SEC championship and will either get a bye or first round home game in the playoffs.  I have no doubt that Sark wants to be in the championship his first year in the SEC.

Lose and a case can be made for us to miss the playofffs. If we get in,  we will have to travel.

I could not care less about followon implications of beating A&M but losing to UGA, etc.

I want to beat the shit out of A&M.  The rest can wait.  What is wrong with some of you people?  (And by "you people" I mean "you people".)

Conference championships are stupid and unnecessary in the world of 12 team playoffs. Do I wish we’d win the first year in this damn conference? Of course. Would the reaction of losing to Aggy be insufferable and something I’d like to avoid if at all possible, of course.

But losing tomorrow prevents the wear and tear and inevitable injuries that would come from next Saturday. And if you lose next Saturday, you only have 2 weeks to recover. Depending on what’s going on with Quinn having the 3 weeks between tomorrow and cfp first round could be huge

For the 1 seed when we beat the Tenn or whoever ends up at 9

Whoever starts the game, I just hope Arch is getting enough 1st team reps so he is ready in case his number is called. This is too important a game for us not to be ready in case Quinn can't go. Everything is one the line.

I'll give Sark a call and let him know that this game is important.

This is defensive team. I trust in the defense. If the offense ends every drive with a kick, Texas wins.

I 100% want to beat aggy. But I'm not sure how I would feel if we were extremely liberal in our rotations against Georgia, not show much and build depth. The national championship is the goal. I think if we lose to Georgia we still get a top 8 seed and host and basically every team not named osu Georgia tenn or Oregon we'd be favored by 10+ points.

#16844

How much do we care about playing an extra game?  The only ways to make that not happen are beat aggy and also Georgia, or lose to aggy.  One path is easier than the other, but leads to the harder path in the playoffs.

You play to win the game.

Yes - I’m going to be pacing around the house leading up to 6:30. I’ve got the wife agreeing to go visit her sister around 5-6 and not hurry back. She can’t stand being in the room for the regular UT games, so she understands that I won’t sit, nor be quiet, from KO until we hopefully have a “comfortable” lead.

She knows I told my Dad no thanks in driving to his house for the game, as he’s basically the same as me watching UT. He has “negatively” texted me throughout games, play calls and missed assignments & etc, which I’ve told him none of that tomorrow- please! My son even knows not to come over, sad but true!

I’ll take an ugly 10-7 victory right now, but I hope we beat the shit out of them! I’m surrounded by aggy and dirt burglers at work, with a vast majority aggy.

Hook’em!!!
