Elko likes to play man. A mobile qb is problematic for that scheme, Manning might be a better matchup for us anyway. I’d like to see Quinn have the game of his life but I wouldn’t put that sentiment over giving us the best chance to win. The coaching staff only knows how hurt he really is. I guess we have to trust Sark to make the hard decision.

Nahlin said this morning that he expects Ewers to start but also expects to see Manning play.

Nahlin went to twitter right after the Kentucky game to shit on anyone suggesting he was hurt. And of course the obvious is true- Ewers is injured.

ESPN's "sources": Quinn Ewers set to start despite high-ankle sprain

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42694548/sources-quinn-ewers-set-start-high-ankle-sprain

And there is the built in excuse if he plays like shit. I’m mentally prepared for Sark to stick with an injured Ewers no matter how badly he is playing.

I don’t give a shit who starts or who finishes at QB.  Hill, Simmons, Sorrell, Barron are the guys who win this game.

#16959

A hurt Quinn starting could get us in a hole early because we've seen how he plays early especially when he's injured.

Bobby's write up:

As we’ve reported, Quinn Ewers is expected to give it a go today.

His health will be a major point of discussion prior to the game and it will be monitored throughout it.

Do not be surprised if Quinn makes it through the entire game. Likewise, do not be surprised if we see Arch Manning at some point.

While others are trying to guess or predict what will happen, no one truly knows. So my advice is to merely keep an open mind to today.

Quinn will start and then we go from there. That’s the way it is. And it’s really no different than Texas has approached every other game this season.

Yup....that would track with sark's dumbass stubborness.

I wish Bobby would quit pushing these controversial takes.

It's Nahlin. Do you expect any different? You would have to be mentally challenged not to see that he was limping for most of the game.

Quinn… Arch… who gives a shit?

Hill, Simmons, Sorrell, Barron all start. That’s what fucking matters.

Right - aggy can’t win if they can’t score.

Don’t know if football is still played this way but would we be surprised if Quinn has his ankle twisted in piles or during tackles?

It is still played that way, and so it would not be a surprise.

Growing up a Texas fan in this state, this is one of two dream games for Quinn. No way he misses this game or comes out flat.

That being said Texas by 24.

After saying “probable” all week, I imagine Ewers almost has to play (to start) to avoid trouble with the league office.

Nah.  Sprains are hard to predict.  No worries of this type.  Plenty other worries.

Gotta say, both IT and OTF crowds appear 100% doubtful Ewers will last long or contribute significantly.  All in code, but not confident on the qb situation.

we beat they ass regardless

I think you need to look up the definition of “probable.”

They will absolutely be trying to hurt Quinn. Especially Turner. Even with  fully healthy Quinn, Arch should be ready because of this.

Pretty sure Arch is “ready” just like he is every Saturday.

This is where I get lost. If he's healthy enough to start, we should expect him to play all four quarters. Saying "Ewers will start but Arch will play" means either you're being a fortuneteller in regards to his injury and how he'll react in-game, or you're REALLY confident he's getting yanked due to performance.

I'm starting to lean he's not starting/playing....but who knows with Sark and his hard headedness

I imagine it's the nature of the injury to be re-aggravated, so people are figuring its likelihood.

“Probable” does have a definition, specific for injury reports. It means “very likely to play”.

A high ankle sprain is a more serious ankle sprain. He was diagnosed with it last Sunday, at the latest.

These SEC injury reports are new this year. The league seems to want to have them. They are worthless if teams do not adhere to rules. If Texas knew Ewers had an ankle injury that was likely to keep him out, and reported him probable out of gamesmanship, you may think that’s a good idea. I doubt the conference does, though.

Fuck it. Quinn Leftwich Ewers.

20-26 305 yards 4 tds

That would certainly be.... um.... an element of his game we have never seen before.

Or, they could have a package of Zone Reads, true RPO’s and some deep balls. WildArch.

Short memory, few weeks ago he was 300+ and 5tds against UF.

Memory is perfectly fine. I was of course talking about the injury part.

Nope, he only gets 2nd team reps so he's not ready. Surly told me you can't get good practice unless you're the #1 lol.

It simply means more likely than not.  No need to gussy it up.
