I’ve done it at the driving range…I golfed the next day. Either he’ll be fine or I’m the better athlete.

Ha! I’m guessing you didn’t try to throw anything hard in the immediate wake of the injury. It fucks up pitchers, so I don’t expect ewers to play in the next 2 games.

Did you not read? I golfed 18. Hit a 99 with a 6mg Zyn in the upper deck. No excuses from Quinn.

Wasn't tackled but did take a hit in the left abdominal area if you look at the first play here. The pass and body movement most likely exacerbated it with the pass to Gunnar. He took himself out on the next play.

The entire 3 play sequence before Quinn Ewers went down on the field#Texas #HookEm

Dude hurt his right hand and his abdominal muscles tonight. Goodness Ewers, be careful out there.

Durability issues going to be a big concern for NFL scouts. When was the last time Quinn started a full season injury free?

Someone said he hasn't been healthy for a full season since his Jr. year in highschool, but I remember him staying healthy his entire true freshman season at Ohio State.

For aggy, 3 years is the magic number when they give up on their previous savior qb and bench him for the new freshman who they will end up benching in a few years.

I feel bad for Quinn.  He's been so good for this program and I was really hoping he'd win the Heisman.

Here's to a speedy recovery.

I'll bet he's back for ou. We have ULM then Miss St, and then a bye. He'll have 3 weeks to heal up, and if it's a grade 1, which is what people are speculating, we're good. It's just 2 games, and after that he'll be back and continue his rampage onwards to a Heisman win. It's just game 3. Once we reach week 8 no one will remember him getting hurt in game 3. This isn't even a setback for that award.

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one.

but he has been hurt nearly every year since his junior year in high school. That sucks but MOST of us figured he might miss a game due to his history with injuries.

it sucks but we have the best QB2 in CFB.

we will find a way.

thank goodness we have La Monroe and Miss St up next instead of OU and Georgia for next two games

Hopefully this wasn't another under-wraps foolishness BMOC off-field injury, a la Texas-Football-quarterback-savior-of-that-moment drunk Shea Morenz carrying a coed on his back up a flight of stairs and falls and fucks up his ankle and never was the same QB afterwards.

Something definitely feels strange about this injury. We’ll probably never really know. I won’t speculate any further but Sark looked pretty stressed from the opening kick tonight like he knew something was up.

Who knows, just get better asap Quinn.

Jesus this thread has turned into a beating. "Quinn's a pussy, Quinn's brittle, Quinn lost the Heisman, Quinn probably screwed up his abs partying too hard last week, Arch should be QB1...."

Here the facts:

1. Quinn is a fucking badass.

Well, he didn’t really play that year at Ohio State. I think he got a few mop-up snaps. That doesn’t count. Ewers has been hurt and missed substantial time in every season he’s played since his sophomore year of HS. (He missed six games his junior season, his last at SLC.) This is why I’ve been pushing for Arch to get time on the field.

Thank you.  I rewatched the game highlights a little bit ago… Quinn is absolutely the best quarterback in the country.  That motherfucker is dialed in.  Arch is great and it’s nice to know he probably won’t shit the bed against La-Monroe but Quinn is easily the better quarterback and whenever he’s healthy he needs to be playing.  Quinn can beat fucking Georgia.

I actually think Manning is better than Ewers right now and gives us the best shot to win a title this year.

What the fuck are you talking about? How do you look at Ewers, throwing the ball all over the lot. The different arm angles. The quickness of getting the ball out. The accuracy. The ability to somehow rise to the occasion vs our toughest opponents. And say this shit right here. Is Arch good? Fuck yeah, but we all knew he was going to be good. But at times he looks like an inexperienced QB out there. Who knows what he would look like vs a Bama or Georgia. But here is what we do know, what the fuck Quinn looks like vs a Bama or a Georgia.

Look, I am as guilty as anyone of trying to go down with the ship but g-damn!! At some point you need to just tip the cap bro. QE is everything his rating said he would be. If there is one fanbase that needs to shut the fuck up about a QB controversy it's us. If you wanna know where the vitriol is coming from nobody wants a repeat of that bullshit, because in the end we all lost. Say it with me. "Quinn Ewers is our guy when he is healthy". Little shit like this has a way of becoming way bigger and uglier than you can control. One day a suburban Karen looks out her window and posts on FB about her suspicious looking Haitian neighbors. A couple days later Haitians are eating pets in Springfield, Ohio is running on every news outlet across the US.

This morning I wake up to someone who actually believes Manning has progressed as far as Quinn. Ridiculous. While Arch was great, it was obvious there were limits on his game plan and he made some read mistakes. He also was essentially on only one read.

Quinn had progressed to the Heisman favorite, especially with what Georgia didn’t do last night. I’m almost as upset about the Heisman as I am the risk to the title march. Not having a Heisman QB from Texas is also ridiculous.

Arch gonna be a top 3 Heisman favorite if he starts the next 2 games against these shitty teams.

He's already getting the 7th best odds at BetGM because they know he's about to torch the teams coming up on the schedule.

I beleive the injury Ewers had in high school was a sports hernia, which can be several things, but his was serious enough to require surgery.  The weird thing is that even though the injury has the term "hernia" in it, it is more of a tendonopothy type of thing in some cases.

There is a great deal of connectivity between the groin, pelvic floor and abdominal muscles and I wouldn’t be suprised if this was related to his old injury.

These type of injuries can nag you forever and take a long time to heal if they are tendon related, so let's hope it's muscle strain related as was repprted and not something else.

I am not a Dr. I am a CPA and concrete contactor.

On the "Quinn is injury prone stuff," here is the injury against Alabama his freshman year:

And this is the play last year where he was injured against Houston:

Are these injuries due to being injury prone? I don't know; he got absolutely blasted on both. One was a late hit personal foul where he went from suspended in the air to pile driven into the turf by the POS, Dallas Turner. Brett Favre would have been injured on that play.

The second was a big, big hit he took while running where he probably shouldn't have been running. From early returns this year, he's developed into the kind of quarterback who won't be taking a lot of hits like that.

Last night, I think he injured himself on the first TD when his arm was hit while extended. The abdominal strain could have happened there or subsequently. In either case, those are fairly common QB injuries.

If Drew Brees can recover from a dislocated throwing shoulder to play another 15 years in the NFL, Quinn will be fine. His injuries look to me like a function of dirty play (Alabama), a bad decision that he learned from (Houston), and plain bad luck (UTSA).

Arch looks like a good one, but reports of Ewers' death have been greatly exaggerated.

This is the correct answer.

Quinn is fantastic at everything except deep balls down the sidelines.  I want him healthy and back ASAP.  He is dealing right now and very comfortable running this offense.  I also love that we have Arch as our backup.  We can win all our games with a second year Arch.  That was not the case with our QB depth chart last year.

Yeah. Arch looked good but you could tell the difference between the 2. Quinn throws such a pretty ball. Arch will be fine. But let’s stop and smell the roses. Quinn is damn good and if he keeps playing like this he will win the heisman. #AllIn4Quinn
#9938

Both badass QBs with different strengths.  It’s clear when you watch Quinn that he knows this offense very well and can get to his 3rd and 4th reads.  Hell he should bc he’s in his 3rd year.  Arch looked lost at times last night when UTSA blitzed and his 1st read was taken away.  He’s still good enough that we can win all our games with him but we need Quinn back before ou/uga.

Thank you!
As far as injuries go, QE’s have been relatively minor anyway.
If his injury history scares whatever garbage NFL organization has the #1 pick, that’s great news for QE’s career.

If Ewers is out until ou I think it gives us an advantage, however small, that ou will have to gameplan for both quinn and arch along with arch's added mobility.

Ewers has shown enough mobility and Manning isn’t going to be featured in the running game. I think “try to keep them in the pocket” covers both.

He's getting those odds because the casinos know some people are dumb enough to take them and he's going right back to the bench as soon as Quinn is healthy.  As he should.

Arch's talent level is almost shocking.  But Quinn is the better all-around QB at this point, and it's really not close.  Quinn does not take the sack from behind that Arch never saw coming last night.  Quinn is battle tested in big games and Arch isn't.  Etc.

Arch is gonna be great, don't get me wrong.  But Quinn is already there.

Look, I get what you are saying but if you get injured ever year you play football including now a freak injury you are certainly injury prone. Bad luck can be part of that equation but the reality is Ewers gets hurt a lot. At least now we have a legit backup QB to get us through unlike last year when we were holding on for dear life when Murphy stepped in.

I doubt it scares the shit out of any good team. If I’m playing Texas, I’d much rather have him trying to run the ball so we can get shots at him than have him looking at second and third reads from the pocket. He’s no Wingo, Bond, Cook, Golden, etc.

It’s not a look they’d see with Ewers in the game, so that’s something, but I doubt it’s going to keep anyone up at night, especially knowing if Manning is in Owen is probably next up.

Did not say or imply that Arch was a running qb. Just that he is not a statue. And Quinn is the man for this season.
