We miss Quinn (right now). I think arch will be better overall and has a higher ceiling, but we are up 2 scores with Quinn.

Hate to say that I probably agree with this.

I mean-  no other take away so far.
I think arch will be fine. But he ain’t fine right now.

Lmao there are some real stupid mother fuckers who definitely won’t show their face in this thread

I showed my face.  At least I'm pretty sure I was a "we'd have won it all last year with Arch" guy on this thread.  I was wrong on the internet.

Maybe the question should be, can we win with sark

Sark didn’t underthrow those half dozen passes, but he sure sucks at goal line offense.

Arch has looked much better in hurry up O. He just needs to settle in and play. He’ll be fine.

Props. I wish you were right if you want some honesty. I was on the hype train the last month.

He has to institute a take the 3 points EVERY FUCKING TIME. Score shoulda been 14-12 with a 2 point conversion to tie.

Everyone that shit all over Quinn should feel shame and embarrassment. We win this game by 3 scores with him

Such a bad fucking decision by arch. In addition to all the bad fucking throws.
he will be fine. But he sucked today.

With the time Arch had we easily win that game with Ewers.

It isn’t easy you shitheads

I agree. Points are points when you have 45 minutes left to play. At worst it could have been 14-6.

To be clear, I think we have a higher ceiling with arch and I’m fine with that happening. But you see why Quinn was the guy last year.

this is an insane take. QE self sacks 3-4 times in the first half today with osu’s blanket coverage and QE’s well documented pocket jitters. we’d have been down by a lot more than 7-0 at half with QE running that offense today.

Arch was terrible most of the day today, but he avoided sacks, he stood tall in the pocket, and he made plays with his legs in situations where we watched QE get sacked over and over and over throughout his career.

the more accurate thing to say is that we would have beaten tOSU today with either of the supporting casts that QE had the last two years. we sure could have used kelvin banks, ad mitchell, matthew golden, gunnar helm, jt sanders, jonathan brooks, et al today, especially with sark’s unimaginative and stubborn play calling.

Yea I don’t think Arch beats OSU last year, which is what everyone was screaming. Wish you’d been right Derka. We’ll see going forward, but Sark made the right call.

Your commitment to the bit is respectable

I believe that all available evidence supports this take, with no evidence to contradict it.

I think that last drive is telling; Ewers hits Wingo in stride on 3rd down, but also takes a sack on 4th. Outcome doesn't change.

I'm more concerned about our OL than anything, especially RT. He did not have a good day.

a person who pumped up arch and then refuses to show their face today is a helluva lot smarter than the literally dozens of posters who would watch QE be terrible in a myriad of ways for three straight years and still run back into this thread over and over swearing that he was actually awesome and that it was everyone else’s fault.

It takes a big man to admit his mistakes. And it takes an even bigger man to point and laugh at that man.

I’ve defended you plenty but even with self sacks and a fumble and an INT he still puts up 24 on OSU. That’s how bad Arch was today.

If he hit them in third down there wouldn’t be a 4th down.

Absolutely. It was disgusting how bad arch was. Quinn has a lower ceiling but a much higher floor than we saw from Arch.

i feel very strongly that many of you in here are being prisoners of the moment. Arch didn’t do anything to put us into a hole in the 1h despite routinely going through all of his reads and having to either dump it off to the safety valve or try and make a play with his legs. quinn would not even have gone through those progressions, he would have seen his first option covered, turtled in the pocket under no pressure, and then either run into the back of his own linemen or run backwards opening a lane for a pass rusher to drop him.

one offseason and y’all have forgotten the entire last three years.

Bro, this isn’t going to end well for you. Please don’t do this. Arch is surely going to be great but with all of Quinn’s faults Texas wins taking a knee today if Quinn is the QB today.

i’m not allowed to respond to a guy who called me out? yeah i don’t think so. and you don’t need to worry about “how this is going to end for me”, because this ends with me watching college football and drinking lagavulin 16. i’m pretty sure i’ll be ok.

Arch was ass. It happens. He won’t be all year. Nothing about today makes me feel less confident we will win this he national title.

same to you.

He’s not the only guy who slept walk today but he was  a major problem. So was sark. So were the WRs and the OL but in the second half, that team scores with QE.

you can try to out objective me but it’s probably one of my greatest strengths. I’m not a prisoner of any moment. QE has multiple games where be balled enough on the road or in Dallas for us to know with all his faults he leads Texas to multiple TDs.

as Wulaw said arch has a higher ceiling but QE has a lower floor.

and tbqh, this arch is the one some of us saw in his one drive against Georgia and what we thought was reasonably possible - though I’ll admit I willingly jumped into the hype pool this last month.

You can do whatever you want you’re just wrong. QE absolutely plays better today than arch. Any objective viewer can see that.

Sad to see. Glad I didn’t have to watch it to end the season last year. Game 1 is much more palatable.

yeah well there’s a whole bunch of objective observers who completely disagree with you. again, i can only assume that you all have completely purged QE’s play from your memory if you can’t realize that tOSU’s first half defense- blanketing our wr’s while the pocket held strong- would have seen quinn ewers repeatedly self sacking as he was as skittish as a baby deer on ice in the pocket, and as he had a penchant for turtling and freaking out whenever his first read wasn’t open, even when he wasn’t under any pressure. if QE was out there today he’s taking 8-10 yard sacks throughout the first half, and we’re down by double digits if not 2+ tds at half time. arch was really bad throwing the ball today, but he didn’t kill us in the pocket like quinn did routinely.

You're maximizing QE's bad and minimizing his good.  Yeah he had self sacks.  He also was elite at hitting the short/intermediate throw on target, which was a key missing element today.

Forget it, he’s on a roll.

I saw Ewers sit in a clean pocket and make calm cool throws all day against the weakened defending champs just last year idk

i’m simply pointing out that the exact, specific type of defense that tosu played today gave quinn ewers nightmares at Texas, and that arch had none of the negative plays against that type of defense that QE was famous for. i’m not maximizing what was bad about QE, i’m pointing out that tOSU’s defense today would have been specifically designed to maximize what he struggled with.
