Yeah, somebody post an actual source or STFU with the "Heard it on the news"

i'm willing to accept that in news events like this when we are relying on live news reporting over internet links.

I don't see why Charles should refuse or quickly abdicate. It's not like he's that unpopular and his popularity will rise with the death of his mom and subsequent coronation.

Also the story is that his mom has refused abdication because it's their families' service to accept the role they have and not run away from it. That's his role model for his role as king.

Still he's 73 and won't last forever.

Well, her uncle abdicated because of an American slut, making her dad king.

Does anyone know the current whereabouts of Reggie Jackson? We need Enrico Pallazzo on the case.

Abe and QE2 within months. Lots of political "good guy" icons going to meet their makers in some of the most turbulent times we have seen globally in generations.

that's a really good point.

They said Katherine wasn't there either. Maybe it's strictly blood relations allowed.

if meghan isn't there, she can never go back to britain.

ever.

They said she's still in London. Think they also said Kate isn't at Balmoral. So maybe it's not as big of a deal as they're making it out to be.

I assume raising money for a charity while the queen lays dying is bad form, but when has that ever stopped her?

Kate is not there either. She’s with the kids. I’m guessing that is by design. No in-laws?

I thought Katherine was a cousin? Isn't that how they do it over there?

It was said on BBC that she has cancelled her appearance at the charity event

She was in country lest than 72 hours ago and presumably still is.   I can see her not actually going to Balmoral, given the fact they are no longer Royals and Harry is there as a Grandchild.

Sounds like precedent for all of us for in law funerals in the future.

But their history doesn't exactly go that way.

BBC said Kate was staying with kids because it's their first day at new school.  Said Meghan wasn't going and quite frankly, possibly wasn't welcome (but in a more understated British way).

That seems to be the actual reason, but the Brit broadcasters are getting in plenty of digs. One guy just said "The Duchess of Cambridge is not there because, of course, her children recently started school, so that's perfectly understandable that she couldn't attend immediately. Meghan isn't there, so take from that what you want. She probably isn't even welcome."

I interpret it as being critical of how they came to power in the first place, basically shitting on her uncle. Him being a nazi sympathizer probably didn't help their overall perception of him.

A friend of mine over there says there will be an announcement at 6pm.

That's my thought. Marrying a divorced American actress has, lets say, some history across the pond. Add in her skin tone, and yeah, we're beyond stretching royal "traditions."

Well, if there are last words, if I was the queen and didn't like someone, I wouldn't want her there. Just because someone is an in-law doesn't mean that you have to like them. The queen's last words could be ditch the bitch and come back to your home.

I believe that should say "a former BBC journalist tweeted that the Queen is dead".

If you believe The King's Speech, Mrs. Simpson acquired certain skills from an establishment in Shanghai.  The look on Churchill's face after that line was perfect.  I took it to mean that she gave an incredible blow job.

Even the sign lanuage chick on BBC is in all black.

Well, Harry and Meghan have been cast out of the family.  Are you surprised Royal linked news outlets are getting a few juicy digs?  Media gonna media, bro.

Now I have to change channels.  Once I notice a sign language interpreter, I can't not watch their facial expressions.  Her's are delightful.

Kate is apparently at Windsor.  It was the kids' first day of school.  I am with @hayden_horn on this.  I think she is either already dead or being kept "alive" artificially until the entire family is there.  Her hands when she greeted Liz Truss were purple.

I am agree with the others, I think she has died and they will make the announcement at 6pm local time (about 30 minutes)

I guess there are a bunch of randos standing around by the gates getting hammered by the steady rain.

I bet that was all she could do to make that brief meeting. That’s steel will and resolve. Also, one more PM she got to meet in her very long life.
