If the show is killer I’ll find a way. I'm catching the Fontaines DC show at Stubbs on Sat. Let me know if you catch any of the opening band (Jadu Heart). I have no idea who they are and the few minutes spent on youtube doing recon was 100% meh.

April 25Apr 25 Went to Japanese Breakfast at South Side Ballroom. Quick show. She was done around 10:35. Already home. That's nice for my old ass. Have to decide if I want to go to LCD Soundsystem on Saturday or Sunday. I saw them the last time they rolled through at the Bomb Factory.

I wanted a little more energy for the opener.

I was back by the soundboard as I wasn’t interested in getting there early to get a front view. The fact it wasn’t sold out, while not so great for the band, was great for me because sometimes they cram people in like sardines. Not my favorite venue. Stage set and lights were cool, but I was getting a very “Stonehenge” vibe from her getting in and out of the giant scallop shell.

April 25Apr 25 Just bought tickets to see Pulp at Red Rocks in September. Never been to a show there, and I’ve never seen Pulp. I might not even be able to get up there for it (I have a six year old) but worth the risk to get the seats.

April 27Apr 27 Mrs JW and I are headed to Red Rocks today for The Movement, Pepper, and Tribal Seeds. Good times should be had. Edited April 27Apr 27 by jw4381
April 27Apr 27 Just got to Far Out Lounge for Psych Fest. Yo La Tengo and Dinosaur Jr playing tonight. I ended up having an extra ticket. If anyone wants it for free, DM me and I’ll send it to you.
April 28Apr 28 Tonight is Teen Mortgage with the Spoon Benders opening at Polaris Hall in PDX. Small venue so it'll be high energy. I've been looking forward to seeing TM and SB always puts on a hellava show.

April 29Apr 29 Sharon Van Etten was amazing at the 930 club. No way her albums can bring whatever that was I saw. Just fantastic. Played almost two hours and I left feeling exhausted. And the paintings on her actual set were great. I think I’ve been doing it wrong. I’m in love. Edited April 29Apr 29 by Mdhorn

April 30Apr 30 LCD tonight at Emo’s was fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for a better setlist. It's basically the same set list every single night. I compared the Saturday/Sunday runsheets from Dallas and there's not much difference. I had serious FOMO that I missed these shows. High Water was a lot of fun. Lord Huron was great on Saturday night and Arcade Fire looked like they were having a blast on Sunday night to close things out. Fantastic show. Counting Crows played earlier -- they were the "which of these things doesn't belong here" for this year but Shovels & Rope is no longer running/curating so you're going to get weird shit for the olds now -- and Adam Duritz looks like a Colin Farrell mash-up of his Horrible Bosses and Penguin roles. I said to my wife, "He looks like he has fleas." They were beyond terrible. Also got to see Waxahatchee, Mt Joy, Julien Baker & Torres as well as Trampled by Turtles. We didn't get there in time for Amos Lee but he joined Mt Joy for a cover of "Teenage Dirtbag." I had to bail on Yo La Tengo at Kessler. We were tired, I had a work function until 7:30 and my son has been staying with us on all school nights so I can make sure his ass goes to school. (We also have Hamilton Leithauser and then Wilco/Waxahatchee next week.)
May 1May 1 MJ Lenderman at Brooklyn Steel. Kick ass show, terrible single photo that I took Edited May 1May 1 by Reynolds Woodcock

May 3May 3 Just got home from Ministry, Nitzer Ebb, and Die Krupps. This was great top to bottom. Die Krupps hasn’t played Austin since ‘96 even though Jurgen lives here. They killed it. I would love to see a full set. Nitzer Ebb is always good for just being two dorks on stage. Ministry is only playing Twitch, With Sympathy, and earlier Wax Trax singles on this tour and it absolutely killed. Yeah, Al has to use a vocal track to keep up but the crowd loved it and the reworked versions of the songs were great.
May 3May 3 Anyone happen to catch beabadoobie last week here in Dallas? Heard one of her songs last week and have developed a mini crush. Evokes a lot of the Sundays and she’s cute as a button.
May 5May 5 saw mogwai saturday night at emo's. they always put on a good show and they're consistently one of the loudest bands i've ever seen.
May 5May 5 Jack White last night. Good show. Seemed like about 80% dudes. Never seen a bathroom line like that there before.
May 5May 5 Hamilton Leithauser at Kessler tonight, Waxahatchee/Wilco on Wednesday in Las Colinas. I didn't realize that Spencer Tweedy plays drums for Waxahatchee until Katie introduced him at the end of their set at High Water two weeks ago. I guess that explains this tour.

May 5May 5 I will be there tonight. Looking forward to it. I saw him yesterday at the Austin Record Convention.
May 6May 6 Jack White - 1 hour 20min 15 songs. I get you don't want to play steady as she goes and blue orchid every night but man even Dylan plays an hour 45 or so. I would have been happy with more songs from the new album(which is pretty damn good) even.
May 6May 6 1 minute ago, 4th&Five said: That’s pretty lame. Glad we went Sunday, I guess. yeah it was kinda bullshit IMO. Like he was pissed or something. as soon as he started 7 nation army,I was "hmm really? maybe he is switching up the closer". Nope. 10 songs, "encore" 5 songs. every other set on the tour has been close to 20 or more. I wanted Sunday tickets but couldn't get the area I wanted. I think I'm done with him live, too much hit and miss. paid to see him at Mohawk and no encore there, it was a good show though. I really like his music.
May 6May 6 My gf and I looked at each other after the band walked off after the main set and both said “that’s it?” (the set was maybe 50-55 minutes at that point), before I looked up the previous night’s setlist and saw the encore was close to as along as the main set. Overall glad I went but this show was nowhere near what I saw at the Moody Center a couple of years ago which absolutely blew me away and was the reason I decided to buy tickets last minute to this one. I had a feeling we were in trouble when, about halfway through the main set, the sound guy got as much stage time as Jack and finally ended up replacing the entire pedalboard (at one point I leaned over and said “I think we’re witnessing a guy getting fired tonight.”). I’m curious if playing keys on Apple Blossom was pre-planned or impromptu due to whatever other issues they were having. And yeah, 80% dudes = long ass men’s room lines.

The guitar tech thing for about 5 minutes almost looked staged...
May 7May 7 Just got back from Wilco and Waxahachee at the Espee here in SA. Really great concert. It was a perfect evening to be at an outdoor venue.
May 7May 7 it's not that tiny, i'd say a little bigger than stubb's. saw the flaming lips there like 15 years ago.
May 7May 7 Saw Jack White last night at Southside. He put on a great show. I think it was a 50 minute main set, then 5 minutes off stage and another half hour. High energy. Well worth the price of admission. There were a couple moments there where I was like "this must've been something like what Zep was like." The crowd was into it, and he was feeling it. Now it's on to Wilco tonight.
May 7May 7 Anybody going to the Morrissey show in San Antonio tomorrow night? He won't be there. Motherfucker did it again. But this this time he canceled the entire tour, not just a show here and there.
