pussy gillette- power trio. entertaining for a few songs but then you realize every song sounds the exact same. lead singer's schtick also got a bit tiresome.

i'll be honest, i looked them up to see if there songs were all protest songs against bushy cooch.

it was even worse than that. holy shit, what a shitty lords of acid ripoff.

Uhhh . . . not to belabor the topic, but my daughter's band just got added to ACL Fest, both weekends.

Got mine for Denver. Family tickets set, plus an extra for me so I can attend the preshow soundcheck.

being dead at hotel vegas last night. i love the band, but that was terrible. whoever was running sound should be fired immediately. there were constant problems with feedback throughout the entire set. the band pleaded between every song but it was never resolved. you could tell they were not happy. it was also a strange crowd, there were a bunch of people there (saw britt daniel walkiing around) but nobody seemed to care about the band. pretty much the opposite of when i saw the night beats last week...smaller crowd but everyone was into it. being dead is great and i feel bad for them.

That sucks.  Usually the crowd is really into them and they have a good following.  Seen them twice and I really enjoyed their show.  Wasn't there supposed to be a good after show?

Saw Grouplove tonight at the MLS fan fest.  They are so great live.

Saw George Strait and Chris Stapleton last weekend at SoFi. Not a fan of SoFi for concerts but it was a great time.

Several months ago I saw that Michael Schenker was coming to my favorite venue in San Francisco (Great America Music Hall) in Oct playing only the music from his years with UFO. Being a huge fan of those UFO records, I thought a GA ticket immediately and texted all my friends who i thought might be interested to do the same. One guy listened.

Somebody told me a few weeks ago that these $35.00 tickets are going for hundreds of dollars each. I looked on Stubhub last night, the cheapest GA tickets listed are asking over $1,500ea.

Damn. I really wanna see Michael Schenker, but $1,500 is $1,500. I told my friend with the other ticket that we can sell these and use the proceeds to fly to Brisbane, Australia in December and see AC/DCs final show.

Tough decision. I feel like I hit the ticket lottery.

Now THAT'S how you do it (depending on whether or not you can get tix for the AC/DC show).

Never thought I'd see TV on the Radio but they are back on tour. Played around 75 minutes, great energy still

looking forward to seeing them at levitation next month, but was sad to see david sitek isn't touring with them.

Aug schedule

Girl in a Coma at rubber gloves in denton

Horsegirl at sons of herman hall in deep ellum

Me first and the gimmee gimmes at granada in dallas because I gotta get my pop punk cover band fix

oasis in chicago

I’m probably gonna get tix for the offspring at dos equis because I gotta get my pop punk not-a-cover band fix

Pixies bring it. A lot of fun and not much for chatter.

I got Spiritbox & Periphery in Austin with the monster Nov 18, then with the wife in Omaha on Nov 22. Also, got tickets for the 3 of us for Oakenfold & Crystal Method on Oct 17

Waited in the standby line for the MMJ hall of fame taping tonight and got in. My 40th time seeing them. Good mix of new stuff and “classics.” Sounded great as always. They need a 3 night run there sometime.

I had tix but had to go to my wife's brother's house for a birthday party.

I would have preferred MMJ.

Won tickets for MMJ and had a great time. I hadn’t seen them in probably 15 years and not listened to anything new from them in 10. Just fell off my radar.

We were second to last row, but dead center so had a great view. I don’t go to many straight up rock shows anymore, but they were terrific. I was surprised at no “One Big Holiday”.

Faces aplenty melted tonight in denton courtesy of Girl in a Coma

IMG_4300.thumb.jpeg.a4aee00249b15323c8b3c8789076f0dc.jpeg

Would like to see Brit Floyd in Houston tonight.  They do a great job and are the closest thing you can get to Pink Floyd anymore.

Schedule does not allow for it this time.  It’s a bummer because there is a single on the second row near center that would be similar to where I sat last time, and that was a sweet spot to sit and watch some great guitar work.

Saw Lumineers this past weekend in Mile High.  They did a good job of sounding exactly like the record.  A mid-set rain delay was the only downside.

probably two tejano fans here and me. this will be a great show. zero hoster cred ...

Seeing William Beckmann at the Scoot Inn on September 18th. They ran out of indoor tix so no indoor hanging out for us. It should be fun anyway.

you have to buy a ticket to drink at the inside bar now? wtf. the last couple times i've been to a concert at scoot the volume has been waaaay too quiet.

The sell an indoor pass in the hour before the concert so you can hang inside but it is limited availability. Once the show starts, I think you can sit inside but like you say…too  quiet.

Listening to pantera: 101 proof.

fuck the haters. 9/6, shits happening. with  charlie and zakk, doesn’t make a fucking mother fucking shit.

we’re taking over this town, so fuck off.

I got a ticket to see Will Johnson of Cetromatic playing with the surviving members of Magnolia Electric Company doing a bunch of Magnolia/Songs Ohia/Jason Molina songs.

Also got a ticket to Levitation on Sunday for Pavement and Black Angels. Also excited to see Built to Spill at that show, as they always have the potential to put on a great show (provided Doug Martsch doesn't turn it into a jam-band wank-off.)

Old post-punk band PILE is doing a night show during Levitation with a band from Chicago I like called FACS. That should be a good one.

Also gonna get tickets to see Unwound at Mohawk on Sept 11th. Swans play the night before so might go to that one too.

I just picked up a $39 all in ticket to see Nine Inch Nails tonight.  Afterwards will be going on a midnight mystery bike ride through Portland with the freaks.  Gonna get my anger/depression and childhood joy combo fix tonight.

Did I hear that Josh Freese is on drums now?  They swapped with the Foos?

Yup - direct swap.  Freese is back with NIN.

I don't see 9/19 on the schedule at Scoot Inn only 10/25.  Did the date move?  Looks like there are some indoor tix on 10/25.

Randomly saw Uncle Lucius the other night. Never heard of them before, but they put on a really great show.

Game time decision. Just bought tickets for tonight's Babe Rainbow show at Mohawk.  Hopefully they're not wasted tonight.  Grandmaster opens.

I heard Grandmaster on local terrestrial radio this week.  I gotta say, I liked it.  Please tell us how they did live.

Been curious to see them.  Good a railing spot on the second level but may go down below later.  Steamy tonight.

Interesting schtick and they're talented... sort of a 70s funk/prog Rock/blue-eyed soul sound.  They played a 40 minute set and while they were good, I was kind of ready to turn the page at 30 minutes.

As for Babe Rainbow, Angus was sober and they all sounded great. Start of their US tour from Australia and they were great!

Will be in Chicago for Oasis as well. Columbus, Ohio is drivable from there...

Starting my first round of chemo next week, but still have my sights on going to Oasis in Chicago on 8/28, cancer be damned. For those of you staying through the weekend, where are you watching Texas-Ohio State? I hear Cubby Bear is where Longhorns gather to watch - is that accurate?

Yes, it was rescheduled. I’m looking into the indoor tix now, thanks.

Internet does indeed say Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. Hopefully there will be more Reddit posts confirming it in the next couple of weeks.

I actually checked Chicago Texas Exes FB page not long after posting this and it looks like the Exes moved game watching to a place called The River Kitchen and Bar.
