Sweet!  That'll be fun.

They've been touring with a lot of really good bands.  Happy for them.

I don't know if you are aware of this but GA-20 is pretty much a different band these days.

The lead singer (Pat) and drummer (Tim) left to form Canyon Lights.

The guitarist for GA-20 kept the name and brought on new members.  I think the new guy's voice is a definite step down from Pat Faherty's and his hair is like 10 steps down.

Bummer. Thanks for the heads up.

Last day to take advantage of this... bought BALTHVS.   Sun Room would be tempting.  Eggy is pretty good live.  I also like Sir Chloe's sound.

Went with Erhine and our respective wives, show was fucking awesome. Badass to see CCR again, I cant remember last time I saw them live. The closer slapped and went hard in the paint. A freestyle version of Boys from Oklahoma featuring just about every special guest was great but closing with LA Freeway was badass

That was a great show.  Getting out of the parking garage...not so great.

I hope CCR decides to make it a yearly show at McLane Stadium, instead of just having it up Stillwater and nowhere else.  Of course it had been 15 years since they played in Texas, so maybe that's a longshot.

saw neil young and the chrome hearts monday in denver. more songs and less jamming than the show i saw last year with crazy horse backing him. definitely more mellow this time around, and the vibe with this band is completely different. micah nelson is not great but i think that's part of why neil likes playing with him. spooner oldham is in the band but i couldn't hear a thing he played all night, which seems to be the norm. wasn't the best neil young show i've seen but i'm happy any time i have a ticket and he shows up and plays.

Guess I’ll be headed to Europe to catch at least one of the Radiohead shows. You have to wonder if these may be the last shows for them.

The instructions on radiohead’s website give me the sense that those of us in the US are unlikely to get tickets.

Yeah, I started making plans before going to the site. Bummer.

Saw Thee Osees last night. Loud AF and hot as hell. It was awesome!
Really happy to hear their older stuff like Toe Cutter, Chem-Farmer/Night Expo, The Dream, etc.

I haven't really been digging their most recent album and much prefer their older groovier stuff.

Saw Brandi Carlile at Red Rocks last night, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.  Like, so good I'd go back tonight if she was playing again.  Very Springsteenish, both in terms of how polished her show is, as well as how she just opens her heart and lets it all out.

But the thing that's really stuck in my head was her first opener, a young girl named Allison Ponthier.  Her music dealt heavily with gay themes, and then she announced that she was going to do one more song.  She said she grew up in Texas (Allen), and that it was tough to be gay there, but that she still loved her hometown, but she wished it loved her back, so she wrote a song about it.  And then she played this song that hasn't been released yet called, "Everywhere isn't Texas."  Here's a couple of snippets:

And when she finished, she just said, "Thank you, performing here has been a dream of mine," pulled out her phone, turned around and took a selfie with the crowd behind her, and walked off the stage.  And I sat there trying not to cry because I was gutted like a big old trout.

saw the Hives last night, they still got that loud punk/rock energy after 25+ years..

Nine Inch Nails crushed it in Atlanta last night. I can’t think of another band that has delivered, every time, like they do for as long as they have. It was my 8th time seeing them, the first being Lollapalooza in 1991. That first NIN album is older now than Led Zeppelin was when I was in college.

Great setlist

NIN is now tied for 2nd with Isbell for the most times I’ve seen a band live. Mastodon still holds the top spot.

I think the cult might hold the top spot for me.

Never seen nin but been thinking about catching them this tour.

I went to that first Lollapalooza dour.  Dallas stop.  You know, the first (second?) stop after NiN dropped out and was replaced by . . . Violent Femmes.  Fuck me.  (Not that I don't like Violent Femmes, but they weren't exactly a powerhouse of a band.)

DEVO & B52's 11/2 - going back to my real hometown of The Woodlands to see them.

Tame Impala - I tried to get tickets to the Austin show but there were 57,000+ people ahead of me in the queue so I bailed and got a ticket for Los Angeles.  Gonna fly in, see the show, and fly out at 7am.  No sleep motherfuckers!!

Saw The Swell Season at the Majestic tonight with my wife. They are still great; Glen is a top class musician and funny as hell.

They play at ACL live at Moody tomorrow night for anyone in Austin that wants to catch them.

It was a great show!  I was a bit disappointed Terrible Lie wasn’t on the set, such a great song live.

Saw the Castellows at Antone's last night. Their first stop on their new tour. Amazing energy, Lily has learned how to perform.

saw NIN in tampa and ft worth last week. have seen 3 shows this tour, 2 in the pit and 1 from lower bowl seats. it was nice seeing the full visual experience from the seats, but the pit is absolutely the way to go. this tour has been incredible, the opening songs on the b stage are so good. think i preferred the tampa setlist the most but all of them have been absolutely amazing. have seen them 19 times over the last 25 years and this tour is definitely one of the best and most creative.

Great DAIISTAR show at the 13th floor.  I really like their sound.

Almost Heaven was a good opener... frontman definitely kept everyone engaged.  Good sound.  I would see them again.

The Alex Maas show... I liked it but the middle of the set was a little to mellow psychedelic organ-fueled rock for me at one point... started strong, slipped a bit and then finished strong.  Jack Montesinos was sitting in on guitar and Jack Garcia of the Black Angels on bass.  Not sure who was on drums.

Didn't realize that DAIISTAR's bass player, Misti, has been touring as the bass player for The Black Angels.

Drummer from the post above with Alex Maas was Robb Kidd from MIEN and Golden Dawn Arkestra.

Viagra Boys last night was epic!
They've amassed a great crowd that were totally in to the show. Crowd surfing shrimp and some bare boobies. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.

Die Spitz opened and were a lot of fun though the mix was bad and volume at half level. Frustrating to not hear the vocalists.

Really need to see how I can pull off Viagra Boys on Halloween night.

You surely know this, but many might not.  The support acts are at the mercy of the headliners, and in this case, Viagra Boys are not only stealing the PA but the stage time.  Such is life, just battle through and take names.  Don't expect Die Spitz to return any favors to Viagra Boys if fortunes flip.

NIN in FW was cool.  We had lower section seats, near the second stage.

I think the Dickies arena sound was a little off first half the show.  The synth stuff drowned out all of Josh's drums and Robin's guitar.   Sounded much better by the end.   Josh live was incredible, as always.

I could have done with more band based songs.  When I saw Ruiner on the setlist I didn't expect a toned down electronic version.  Makes me think as NIN (if?) Continues live it will transition to more of the synth based atmospheric type stuff with less band.

Was my 7th time seeing them since the With Teeth tour.  Hope they keep it up.

Yea I’m not a synth based music person so I hope not but it definitely seems that way.  A DJ as an opener was a giveaway for that.

Give me Robin chainsawing thru an entire song over 4 dudes tweakin knobs.  But was still a great show.  The visuals were great.

Dickies is stealing away a TON of AAC talent from Dallas.

That sucks.  I knew it was intentional but you never want to hear about people being shitty.

You know, there are agreements about these kind of things, and that agreement is not being upheld.  Onward . . .
