October 30, 20223 yr Futurebirds and Illiterate Light at emo’s on Friday. Really fun show. Great crowd. Sir Elton last night at the Alamodome. One of the last people on my concert bucket list and he was great. The absolute insane clusterfucks at every step getting in and out of that shithole was almost enough to ruin it though.

How long did it take you to get in? I heard people turned around went home because it was so bad.
October 31, 20223 yr 45 minutes. Getting to the car and getting out of the lot was much worse. Their scanners weren’t working but we found a short enough line that we made it just in time. Edited October 31, 20223 yr by 4th&Five
October 31, 20223 yr Pretty sure jimmyjazz’s kid is in this band and they fucking kick ass. Really good live sound. First thing I thought of was a riot girl take on Ultramega OK era Soundgarden. I’m really glad I showed up early and caught their set.
October 31, 20223 yr L7 is always a good show. Bonus pic of the blind guy, stick in hand, crowd surfing.

She's the drummer, although she and one of the singer/guitarists swap out when my daughter takes over lead vocals. Big crowd, maybe the biggest they've played for yet. I have some video, I'll see about posting it.
October 31, 20223 yr I know shit about fuck when it comes to what makes a good drummer but her playing stood out. I definitely noticed the fills she played weren't something you normally hear in punk music. She is really good.
October 31, 20223 yr Levitation was incredible. King Gizzard was as good as ever, just absolutely destroyed Stubb's and the crowd was so into it. Frankie and the Witch Fingers and the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets also had fantastic sets. Lots of trippy lights and good costumes. Great energy all weekend.

She showed pretty strong musical aptitude at a young age, so I found a percussion teacher for her in 2nd grade. She was taught "the right way" from the jump -- snare drum only, all the rudiments, etc. In high school she really gravitated to marimba, and was actually named outstanding soloist at the state level her junior year. Had the opportunity to major in music/percussion at UT but chose psychology. Probably a wise move!
October 31, 20223 yr Mercyful Fate puts on on of the best shows I've ever seen. I thought so after I saw them at Psycho in August and confirmed it last night. King Diamond is an incredible performer. Almost magical.
October 31, 20223 yr Can't argue with this kind of press: Quote Die Spitz Spark Intergenerational Opening Rage For a rising punk act that cut their teeth at co-op shows and dive bars like Hotel Vegas, Austin’s Die Spitz commanded the Mohawk stage like a headliner. Donning clown garb and an unidentifiable elf costume, the self-proclaimed "boy band with tits" primed Mohawk’s multi-generational L7 crowd with banshee screams, crunchy guitar riffs, and one of the rowdiest mosh pits ever witnessed during an opening slot. The all-femme quartet kicked off their 36 minutes of fury with the taunting choruses and slinky six-strings of "Evangeline," before vocalist and guitarist Ava Schrobilgen snarled a demand for the crowd to "MOSHHHH." Old heads and indie youth collided during fight-and-flight anthem "Going Away," and continued to thrash and squirm the entire set. Die Spitz strutted through oldies and unreleased numbers – most notably "Broken Dogs Gushing Blood" – without a shred of hesitation. When thundering percussionist Chloe Andrews traded instruments with Schrobilgen, and when the latter's guitar strap blew out, the band raged on. The Levitation first-timers closed shop with downstream bass riffs and axe rumbles in drop D, but even after Die Spitz left the stage, the rage never did. – Kriss Conklin Memorable Moments at Levitation -- Austin Chronicle
November 1, 20223 yr Billy Strings is coming to ATL but it’s the big NBA arena. Anyone seen him in a venue like that? I’d much prefer something smaller.

November 2, 20223 yr This could come in all Army-bratted, it was upside down when I pulled it in my computer. I'm old, they're young. Tilt your head. Sorry it's not a direct link. Go Away.wlmp Edited November 2, 20223 yr by jimmyjazz

November 5, 20223 yr Not sure when they're playing The Parlor, then. Living Pins is a duo (+ drums, maybe more) of Pam and Carrie from 16D.

November 6, 20223 yr So I went to that Toadies Concert with some friends and our late teen kids (17, 19, 19) ... Some thoughts Toadies are a really good live act to see live It was a "sea of Dads" The teens enjoyed it but they were the only ones under 40 there by a LONG shot The teens geeked out on Horton Heat with the standing bass Lots of pot, lots of booze and a sold out show HH playing Ace of Spades (to my great shame, my "god son" had never heard the song) The energy changed and the kids felt it Backslider and I Burn with the electric acoustic where the peak of the show. Shout out to the legend in the old Bad Brains concert T
November 6, 20223 yr Might as well put up the whole show (except the first tune), shot by someone unknown to the band. Go out and support your local rawk. Last tune is especially rawky, despite the broken guitar strap:

The lines to get through security and then to scan tickets had to be the worst shitshow I’ve ever seen. Seemed like half the crowd wasn’t gonna get in before the show started even getting there an hour before the show. luckily there was a separate entrance/line for floor ticket holders

November 8, 20223 yr JA and Pumpkins tonight in Denver. JA was great, Perry's vocals were fantastic, but ngl the banter was a bit cheesy lol. SP killed, Billy shreds. show was completely mesmerizing. fucking great show 🤘 20221107_211209.mp4
November 8, 20223 yr Would like to go to see SP, did they play the mostly older stuff or sis they try to promote newer material? Asking because I cannot connect with the new stuff at all. And they have a lot of "new" stuff. (2000+)
November 8, 20223 yr Did any of the original Pumpkins lineup get included in this tour (besides Billy C)? I think Jimmy Chamberlin is back, isn't he?

You could tell because they had the lyrics projected behind them for those songs to really encourage people to sing along and get into them.
November 8, 20223 yr yeah, they played the greatest hits along with a handful of newer ones... which i actually know and really like much of their more recent catalog. that's a rare thing with the SPs, for me anyway... almost all of my favorite bands from the past (like, not including younger acts like Glass Animals, Tame Impala, 1975, etc.) i identify their music with very specific times in my life, and that's the music i always associate them with. The Cure is a good example...i know they've released a number of albums post Disintegration, but i'm not sure i could name one song past 1990 lol. anyway, some of the newer SP stuff is killer. this one is literally brand new and i lost my shit when the opening chords started last night 😄😊
November 8, 20223 yr Wow, that's a LOT better than the newer material I've heard out of them. That bass tone is righteous. (The cynic in me suspects it's a synth.)
November 8, 20223 yr one more short vid...i don't like to be distracted by my phone and put it away quick, but for some iconic numbers i'll try and grab a few seconds 😁 i learned of this tour on this thread just a couple months ago...and so glad i did bc it was fantastic. now... i'm contemplating Muse in April...🤔 20221107_222158.mp4
November 8, 20223 yr wellllll, fuck. peter gabriel just announced a european tour for next year. gonna have to make the trip for one of the stops. ETA: aaaand tickets bought for London show in June. Hopefully Tony Levin will let me play some bass on a few songs. Edited November 9, 20223 yr by sidis
November 11, 20223 yr I’d have to see the set list before I shelled out for PG. I don’t need the latest world beat remix of Biko themed set. I also want to see if he can button that vest around his gut one more time. Picked up Billy Strings tix for March. Stoked.
November 11, 20223 yr We saw William Beckmann last night at Cheatham St. I had only seen him at the REK fan appreciation show do a couple acoustic songs. The full set with a full band was a really good show.He sold out last night and they added another show tonight; I fully recommend heading to San Marcos tonight.

November 12, 20223 yr Guns N Roses, tonight in Singapore. Axel looking tons better than a few years ago. His voice is worse however. They are still rocking.

November 14, 20223 yr I caught The White Buffalo Fri night in Dallas at Deep Ellum Art Co. Cool venue but the acoustics could be better. White Buffalo put on a damn good show. Jake Smith has gritty powerful vocals. The lyrics to Wish It Were True really resonate with me.
November 14, 20223 yr Radney Foster and William Beckmann tonight at a small, acoustic show in Graham. I mainly went due to this thread and the several posts about William Beckmann. He was great! I will definitely be following him and hopefully get to catch another of his shows in the future.
November 15, 20223 yr Well, I fought my way thought the Ticketmaster shitshow and now I'm taking my daughter to Taylor Swift in Houston.
