February 7, 20241 yr i've had too many bad experience to give it another go. crossing my fingers for you folks brave enough to chance it.
February 7, 20241 yr yeah, my last time seeing him was in 2013 but MMJ and Wilco were opening so it was worth the risk.

Never seen him live but have heard enough from friends/acquaintances who have seen him in the last 10 or so years that I’m pretty sure it will be terrible.
February 7, 20241 yr The Decemberists back on the road for the first time in a long, long time. Just picked up tickets for the Majestic in Dallas on 5/14. Saw them there back in 2016 or 2017 and it was a fantastic show.
February 7, 20241 yr I got tix for the Bass show. I don’t think I’ve seen them in 7 or 8 years. The new song is good too.

February 8, 20241 yr Got floor tickets. Last time I saw him he sounded like a rock tumbler. But at least this time I’ll be close enough to lay eyes on him.
February 8, 20241 yr Dylan is tempting... not necessarily because I love his music but he is a legend so maybe worth seeing him. Adam Ant is coming in May with The English Beat (or whatever is left of The English Beat) and then I saw Steve Vai and Joe Satriani have a show coming up.
February 8, 20241 yr I saw Special Beat back in the 90s, they were amazing. I assume English Beat would be similarly good, except perhaps for the age thing.
February 12, 20241 yr Saturday night: Daydream Twins- leaned really heavy into the shoegaze aesthetic. vocals were very buried but the singer seemed alright. they were fine but unremarkable. Alex Maas- i've been liking his more lowkey psychedelic stuff in comparison to the heavier black angels material. i think his voice is well suited for it. this was not one of the more inspired sets i've seen from them but was still enjoyable. really like watching robb kidd on drums.
February 13, 20241 yr PJ tour and Neil with Crazy Horse tour announced this morning. Neil is at COTA 5/1, btw.

February 16, 20241 yr I'll be at this one for sure: daughter's band has been added to SPIN's 3/16 party with Sunny Day Real Estate: Sunny Day Real Estate + Get Up Kids + Die Spitz SXSW
February 16, 20241 yr Pretty cool getting to see Gary P. Nunn sing London Homesick Blues (Home with the Armadillo) with Asleep at the Wheel last night at the Austin FC kit reveal.
February 19, 20241 yr Was in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach yesterday and saw the Weirdos play in case there’s still anyone that listens to punk music. Cliff Roman is the only original member but he still had it
February 19, 20241 yr Who doesn't love a good convenience store metal concert? Sudden Deaf is the band, they were good. Reminded me of the sword. Apparently this place at 29th and Rio Grande does this regularly. The reactions of people stopping in to buy shit were pretty funny.
February 19, 20241 yr how did Yo La Tengo sell out 2 nights at the Mohawk? I totally procrastinated on this one. Not paying $250 a tix on the third party market!

Can a motherfucker buy a bag of gardetto's and a Dr. Pepper without all the racket and ruckus?
February 20, 20241 yr Just saw John Michael Montgomery at the SA Rodeo. Good show. Still has his voice.

Saw Sunny Day about a year or so ago when they first got back together at Emo's. Really fun show. Get Up Kids are always a good time too. Still haven't had a chance to check out your daughter's band, but it's on my list.

February 21, 20241 yr Saw Black Pumas at the new/old Stable Hall at the Pearl in San Antonio last weekend. Great show, fantastic venue. Highly recommend seeing a show there if you get a chance.
February 21, 20241 yr I bought tickets for Jenny Lewis on Mar 1 at ACL Live, but we booked a vacation that weekend, so can't make it. Let me know if any of you guys want them.
February 22, 20241 yr I saw Styx last night at the SA Rodeo. I'd never seen them before, so as an 80's kid, this was cool to check off my list. They put on a really good show and they sounded great for their age. I know Dennis DeYoung and the rest of the band had a riff and parted, but the guy who replaced him was a good 1B DeYoung. Played just about all the hits i liked, except "The Best of Times." They did get in Mr. Roboto. Guys could see the future in 1983!

A nice older Indian gentlemen with a funny little dog that sits in a chair on the front porch owns it and is always there. Any given night it will be absolutely packed inside and out with young people watching metal, techno, dj, rap concerts. I wade through the fog of weed smoke and the masses to get my zyn, jellyfish, and other essentials.
February 24, 20241 yr I am. Looking forward to seeing Ben Kweller again, only other time was at ACL and I was too far away to totally enjoy it. I liked what I heard. Pussy Gillette is on my list, too.

Yes, he's part of the Walker Lukens combo set. No idea what that means. He's also presenting the new award in honor of his deceased son Zev.

February 26, 20241 yr As jimmyjazz said, DAIISTAR absolutely killed it last night that the Austin Music Awards... did a little 3 song set, as did Pussy Gillette. Lots of other great musicians last night including an amazing performance by Ian Moore. DAIISTAR Pussy Gillette Nathan Calhoun was putting on a show... Ian Moore Ben Buck, winner of best hip hop
February 26, 20241 yr My wife said she was creeped out by Pussy Gillette's guitarist. Guess I need to buy a cowboy hat.

February 28, 20241 yr Gary Clark Jr is at Emo's in Austin March 13. I don't know if that was a recent addition to his touring or what but seems he's sure to sell out that size of a venue fairly quickly.
