June 9, 20187 yr Got damn, I dont care if it is a good day, a bad day, a happy or a sad day, when you put that movie on emotion is ensuing. Football, life, lessons and love, what more do you need. Edited June 9, 20187 yr by travelingtexan
June 9, 20187 yr Perhaps not a universal opinion, but someone should have strangled that obnoxious little blond girl within two minutes of her first appearance on screen.
June 9, 20187 yr RTT makes Major League look like a GD masterpiece... “Who’s your daddy?” JFC, that’s some cheesy shit.
June 10, 20187 yr Every time I watch this movie, I expect Cuba Gooding, Jr. to show up as a mentally challenged coach's assistant.

December 17, 20241 yr Having a hard time thinking what the best football movie would be. Lots are good, none really great. This board probably thinks its something like Concussion.

This board probably thinks its something like Concussion. Somewhere between Brian's Song and The Waterboy. I like RTT for what it is. I liked how the player interaction was portrayed. The parental piece had to be total shit in real life. I struggled with them having training camp and having rooming arrangements like a college. AFAIK, nobody in Texas does that in High School.
December 17, 20241 yr It’s FNL. And yes I know their real season didn’t play out exactly like that. Still a great movie.

December 18, 20241 yr Who hasn’t gone to a strip club on a Thursday night, at age 17, and had their math teacher dance for them?

I don’t mean every literal scene in the movie, but the behavior is absolutely stuff that I witnessed and/ or experienced. That’s everything from the parental interaction, the coach’s manipulation of the students and towns people, girls chasing whoever the hottest star is only do switch on a dimeand yes, a stolen cop car not by me… and I never had a teacher who was a stripper, but we did find a stash of lingerie in the back of her custom van while we were getting some class supplies out from it. Also knew of two different female teachers that were banging football players that were seniors or juniors. FNL was an interpretation by someone who never played Texas High School football trying to channel their inner Oliver Stone

Probably would’ve been a starter on varsity as a sophomore but I was better at baseball so I focused on that.
