September 30, 20223 yr Author Uh, who needs chess for that.In all seriousness, my daughter and I play and just looking for ways to implement some strategy.
October 3, 20223 yr Unless I misunderstand, you are beginners?Coming from someone who isn’t very good, but beyond beginner level:Improving tactics is probably what would make the most difference in your play. I like this site: https://www.chesstactics.orgLearning the general principles of openings and endgames would also be good. Strategy is interesting, but ultimately not impactful for beginners IMO.

October 4, 20223 yr Doesn't answer OP's question, but might be relevant to others reading. Doomlet learned the basics by playing No Stress Chess, a version of chess in which you draw from a deck of cards to determine which piece you must move. Makes for some strange setups eventually, but it removes much of the decisional paralysis that can overwhelm beginners, and really reinforces the way each piece moves. December 9, 20223 yr Chessup boards have begun shipping. So far I've received the board, bag, and checkers. Still waiting on the velvet pieces bag and the phone stand, but what has arrived has been of stellar quality. Played a quick game against the Ai after calibrating the board and everything went off without a hitch. Can already tell this is going to be a great product to learn/practice/improve chess and compete with.
December 12, 20223 yr There's a bunch of stuff on YouTube GothamChess has a playlist of different openings that are short, 10 mins, which gives enough of a taste to get started. Funny watching him here where he is more buttoned up. After a few years of streaming he is more on the goofy personality side but he keeps things entertaining. He's also got a great series on guess the ELO. Chessfactor has a lot of good material as well, which is more technical but not too dry. If you want more glamor then the Boatez sisters can liven things up. Definitely more of a streamer personality channel but don't let the good looks fool you, they are solid players. I don't think they have too much training content but here is a clip with a solid list of beginner tips. And for the grand daddy of chess channels you can check out agadmator which only does recaps for top level players. They are short 10-15 min vids. While it may be higher level, its easy enough to follow and helpful to see some of the top level tactics in action.
December 14, 20223 yr Author Thanks for all of the responses.Been working with an app called Dr Wolf which is pretty good.

I started playing chess about a week ago. I mean I played maybe one or two games when I was a kid but never after that. But my son has been playing while he was off at college so I thought it would be a good thing for us to do together. Needless to say he totally kicks my ass right now. So I downloaded Dr. Wolf and it's really good for education. I made it up to strong intermediate after about a week of using it but my gripe is that it seems to frequently (& intentionally) blunder its queen, which is not at all realistic. I understand it's for education purposes but I think a real human strong intermediate would wipe the board with me currently. I think a membership to chess.com might be better or a complement to Dr. Wolf. As for YouTube channels, this guy so far is my favorite. I saw this video last night and I thought it was awesome.

January 24Jan 24 Phantom Chess Boards are starting to show up in the wild after an initial fulfillment estimate of December 2021 (!). The final product looks fantastic and the manufacturer has been very responsive on their Discord. I contacted Wonder Substance and it looks like I'm slated to receive my order next month. I was close to writing them off, but it looks like our long national nightmare is almost over. Edited January 24Jan 24 by BoomMF
January 28Jan 28 Now I am no expert, but I think chess is like checkers but harder. Can someone fact check this?
