So is Tre Wisner.

But as a Texas fan we should know what a high level running back looks like. We've had a ton of them. Neither Tre Wisner nor Hodges Mitchell are one of them.

we averaged 1.1 ypc across two games vs georgia last season.  our OL got manhandled.

Kids and parents really like Kirby Smart.  They love Travaris Robinson.  I'm not sure exactly why on Smart, but even as he's gotten it to a place that recruits itself, people like the guy.

I can see a lot of kids liking him. He lets them do whatever as long as they play well on Saturdays. The parents are another matter.

Since I moved to North Georgia from Texas 41 years ago, I've seen a few HCs filter through Athens. Many folks here still think Dooley invented football. They quickly forgot about Goff and Donnan. They loved Richt as a person but not how he fared in a league pitting him against the likes of Meyer, Fulmer and Saban.

Under Smart, UGA now has been good enough long enough that fans are forgetting how they used to be just a decent bowl team with some good draft potential on the roster. We really need to make them that again. Dominant line play can make it so.

The book on Wisner isn’t written yet. He showed some next-level slippery toughness last year.

Personally I love the hate.

It's just ridiculous for an alleged Texas fan to give it credence.

Even the first game wasn't as one sided as it appeared. We came out and got our teeth knocked in for the first half. Just didn't appear ready for the moment, frankly. But even then the defense played really well. In the second half if the special teams doesn't give up the most obvious fake punt in the history of college football - given the circumstances and the fact the starting punter (who was ridiculous) got injured - who knows what happens in a one score game with Texas having all the momentum. Plus water bottles, our secret weapon to reverse bad officiating calls.

100 percent agree. Losing sucks but it wasn’t domination like some Texas fans like to repeat.

how was the run game in the 2nd half?

Or in the SEC championship game?

Honestly, the rushing attack was hit or miss all season long. Not just against Georgia. I'm hopeful it will be better this year with different personnel.

But the strength of that offensive line was pass protection, and outside of the first half in Austin, I feel like they held their own against Georgia. Not always perfect, but certainly not manhandled. Ewers had some plays where he had to be the one to account for the blitzer, and he didn't. He also always had a tendency to run into the pocket in a way that caused the sack, where a different quarterback would have done a better job of extending the play.

It's the recruiting thread. I've carried on this discussion too long already with a known contrarian. I find your parroting of an ignorant Florida fan as imbecilic. I've laid out my reasons why, not for your benefit, because you're something of a lost cause, but as a response for the rest of the board that this take is dumb. It's especially dumb regarding the defensive line. Going on to talk about the offensive line is out of context, but it's what you have to work with.

I like Wisner. But he's not an elite running back. I'd prefer an elite running back. I'm still grateful to him, even if I'd like to see an upgrade at the position.

what a load of crap.  this whole board was bemoaning flood and the OL after the georgia games last year.  we were a good team but when the OL needed to win the biggest games for us they couldn't do it.

Stop engaging with the fucking idiot troll on the recruiting thread about non-recruiting shit. You're giving him everything he wants and it is bandwidth drain to the rest of us.

if you think we can't run on georgia without a ricky or an earl you are saying the same thing that I am.  the OL was the problem in those games.  so, thank you.

God this board likes reliving losses.

Remember how UH used to beat the shit out of us in the McWilliams era?

Or how about Mack and OU in the early 2000s?

Or, if I really want to be cruel, there's always a blow-by-blow recounting of that Cotton Bowl against Miami.

Or. and I'm just spitballing here, we could maybe enjoy the present while it lasts. Anyone up for that?

Hehehehe... I found it. The original source file. That's the good news! The bad news is, it's in OmniGraffle format, which is supported by jack shit outside of OmniGraffle, a macos-only app.

Which can be read by LucidChart, but can't be exported to something sensible without paying money. sigh

BUT... I also found that this was the V2 of this diagram. The original was this:

PeakHigdon.thumb.png.313ce93c6ee0e584280a530427064015.png

Also, the import into LucidChart doesn't seem to have preserved the colors correctly. shrug

Anyway, in answer to CTJ's question: It was, apparently, 2018 or so.

More fun. There's also a "miniballer.graffle", but it's a different format; being a directory, it's not... quite... working right. Must be an older version? Anyway, that one has some really interesting images in the resource files...

Spoiler

This isn't specifically about recruiting, but it's basically a 45 minute recruiting pitch on why players should come play football at Texas. And it's awesome:

If ya'll want some cool aid, Wiltfong says he still likes his Texas picks for Ojo and Turntine, says Texas is surging for James Johnson and can see him and Guervil both at Texas, and that Texas is a big threat for Tyler Atkinson.

Lock up the recruits soon, Sactown is about to be lit.

Brennan Marion (born in 1987) is reportedly hiring longtime P4 assistant Tim Brewster (began coaching in 1986) to his new Sacramento State staffhttps://t.co/LUp73XUIR7

Sean Miller wasn't that blunt, but he also stated he didn't know that much about Austin before he was hired and was shocked by its awesomeness.

I mean, we see quotes from players along those lines all the time. In state players aren't really shocked by Austin. For them, It's Austin. But out of state players often expect a typical college town. Not a rapidly growing 2.5 million strong metropolis with the school right smack dab in the middle of it, with no major professional teams.
