USC is in over its head and will drown.  Winfield, Bowman, Wafle come on down.  Benjamin, Henderson, Lott, what you want Texas has got.  Malakai, Michigan is fine but Austin is better;  we've got your ties and your kind of weather.

I like the spirit. Some thoughts on a few of them:

-Lott - He's getting DK Moore money, but he's not on that level. Does Texas come back and match anyway, like they did with Moore? Given the less than stellar buzz around initial returns for the 3 WRs Texas just signed to big paydays, that dampens the likelihood. "It's early!" I know, just passing stuff on.

-Benjamin - Texas is matching whatever he's offered. He'd be the best skill guy in a class with multiple excellent skill guys. He could be the next Tyrann Mathieu or Earl Thomas. Returns punts like a witch, same for INTs, and makes plays all over the field and can see the future. Of every player still on the board in some form, he's the one I would most like to see Texas land.

-Henderson - I view him as a far more likely flip than Lott.

-Finley - You didn't mention him, but he's another. Texas wasn't that far away from ND's final offer. Jermichael Finley being a buffoon in the process didn't help. It's still one to keep in the back of your mind simply because they like the player a lot and the numbers could move.

-Lee - Ultimately deciding to take Ojo at his word could kill this even with everything between Texas and Michigan being really similar. They need to get him back on campus.

-USC Commits - The big issue here is that Riley's buyout is massive, allegedly. Someone mentioned to me that it mirrors Fisher's, and that's from agent connections. If that is the case, it is way cheaper to commit money to get Riley the players he's claiming he has to have in order to win and hope that he's right. Will he be? Apparently, across the 85 man roster, scouts feel like USC has like 10 quality NFL prospects. That isn't going to get it done if those folks are correct.

-As to other Georgia commits/targets, Georgia gets religion around an ask above $300k, and then they're really pious and pointing fingers. Texas could absolutely do more damage there if it makes sense with their view of the player. Part of why everyone else in that area ignored several of the GA guys ATM landed is because ATM went in big early and then wound up negotiating with itself. Multiple schools just bowed out really early because they didn't have the players at the top of their board in the first place, and ATM is going to be paying them like they're top 5 guys in the country.

-Florida went crazy with $1M+ for Guervil. That's just a barrier for countering as of last month.

247 composite rankings just changed. Which one of you can explain why. Jawja on top now. aggy 4th and we lost one 5 star.

See your point, but I prefer they have no respite from their tumble to the basement of college football.

Why the 247Sports Composite rankings changed and how team standings are affected

Quote

As of July 2025, the 247Sports Composite will now include three recruiting services: 247Sports, ESPN and On3. This update comes as the recruiting landscape continues to evolve with On3 recently completing a rebrand under the Rivals name. While the new On3 brand carries forward the Rivals legacy, it is a distinct entity and not the same Rivals that was previously part of the 247Sports Composite formula. With that structural shift, the original Rivals rankings are no longer included in the 247Sports Composite system. It will now be made up of 247Sports, ESPN and the rebranded On3, with each service accounting for one-third of the formula, resulting in a 33.3% distribution across the three remaining rankings.

The 247Sports Composite's goal remains the same — to reflect a balanced, industry-wide perspective on player evaluations. This transition simply reflects changes within the recruiting media space, ensuring that the 247Sports Composite stays aligned with stable and current rating systems. By maintaining consistency and credibility, the 247Sports Composite can continue to serve fans, teams and recruits with the most accurate consensus data possible.

Because the 247Sports Composite ratings are recalculated based on the services it pulls from, removing the original Rivals data and shifting to a three-service model will impact individual player rankings. Some prospects may see their Composite rating shift higher or lower depending on how their evaluations align across 247Sports, ESPN and the rebranded On3. Even small changes in player ratings can have ripple effects across the rankings, especially in tightly bunched recruiting classes.

Naturally, this also means team rankings will be affected. Though no 247Sports rankings have been affected, dozens of recruits in each class experience rating adjustments in the 247Sports Composite. Therefore, the overall 247Sports Composite score for that program's class will adjust as well. Some teams may move up or down in the rankings as a result, even if no new commitments have occurred.

These changes are not a reflection of new scouting opinions or player performance — they're simply a recalibration of the system due to the updated inputs. As always, fans can continue to rely on the 247Sports Composite and team rankings to provide a consistent, comparative measure as classes take shape.

They comped Benjamin to Earl Thomas on Coffee and Football one day this week.  If the comps are Earl or Mathieu, then yes he should absolutely be a top priority for Texas and he'd immediately become my favorite player in the class if he committed.

A few stats I pulled regarding summer recruiting. This is all from 247's database. Could be off +/- a guy here or there, but it's probably in the right ballpark.

  • In 2024, we had 41 guys OV during the two June weekends.
    • That doesn't count a random guy that visited by himself in early June or the punter.
    • It does count Ty'Anthony Smith, who visited midweek between the two weekends.
  • 19 of our eventual 21 signees (again not counting the punter, but counting Smith) came from those two OV weekends (90%).
  • 19 commits out of 41 June OVs is a close rate of 46%.
  • The two additional signees OV'ed in December (Filsaime) and January (Butler)
  • 12 of the 19 (63%) had committed to Texas by August 1.
    • This includes Trey Owens, who had committed before June OVs
  • 2 players committed elsewhere following OVs before eventually flipping to Texas (Wardell Mack/Florida and Smith/aggy).
  • 2 players initially committed to Texas following June OVs but eventually flipped to someone else (Aeryn Hampton/Bama, D'Antre Robinson/Florida).

  • In 2025, we had 42 guys OV during three June weekends.
    • That counts 3 guys that visited midweek between those weekends.
  • 21 of our eventual 25 signees came from those June visits (84%).
  • 21 commits out of 42 June OVs is a close rate of 50%.
  • The four additional signees OV'ed in October (Williams [after committing in August] and Justus Terry) and November (Littleton and Hicks [after committing in September]).
  • 14 of the 21 (67%) had committed to Texas by August 1.
    • This includes 9 guys that committed before OVs started.
    • This also includes Josiah Sharma, who committed to Oregon following OVs, but flipped to Texas in late July.
    • This does NOT include Kade Phillips, who committed to Texas in July, flipped to LSU in August, then flipped back to Texas in December.
  • 3 players committed elsewhere following OVs but eventually flipped to Texas (McCutcheon/FSU, Charles/FSU, and Sharma/Oregon)
  • 3 players initially committed to Texas following June OVs but eventually flipped elsewhere (Mills/Washington, Brandon Brown/LSU, and Phllips).

  • For 2026, we had 41 non-specialists OV during three June weekends.
  • 18 of our 19 current commitments as I type this visited during June OVs.
    • Derrek Cooper has not OV'ed yet.
  • 18 out of 41 is a close rate of 44%.
    • 3 June visitors remain uncommitted as I type: Davon Benjamin, Jake Kreul, and Keawe Brown. It does not seem like Brown is a take for Texas at this time.
  • Obviously, all 18 of those have committed before August 1.
    • 6 players were committed before OVs started (Dia Bell has been committed for a fucking year already)
  • In past years, we had a couple early commits that never made June OV with everyone else. I'm assuming those guys were cut loose. Interestingly, all of our pre-June commits made OVs this year.
  • Already 1 player that committed elsewhere following OVs has flipped to Texas (James Johnson, Georgia)

As you can see, despite a rough start to July, we are tracking very closely so far with the 2024 and 2025 cycles. Personally I was mildly surprised to find that, because the string of recent losses made things seem worse than they are. Based on the two previous years' of data, I think we can make some inferences about how the rest of the cycle will play out:

  • We will stay competitive with Benjamin and Kreul
  • We will probably lose 1-2 guys from the current class that aren't a big deal (i.e., cut them loose)
  • We may lose 1-2 guys that we don't want to lose
  • We will probably flip 1-2 players that OV'ed in June but are currently committed elsewhere (Malakai Lee, please)
  • We will bring in a handful of guys for OVs in the fall and have a good hit rate with them.

Here's my thing. Other than OU, and maybe A&M, we're constantly eliciting a stronger reaction from other fan bases than we reciprocate. And even A&M for many of us it's tough to take them seriously as a rivalry.

If I could choose one program to make really hate us and circle us on the calendar every year, it would be Alabama, because they're Alabama. But the truth is Alabama is the Texas of the SEC. Everyone hates their guts. Everyone thinks of them as their biggest rival at different times. Alabama only has so much bandwidth for rivalries. Also, Alabama is in a transition where they're scared to death they're going back to the Perkins/Curry/Dubose/Franchione/Price (hahahaha!)/Shula era, with a little Stallings sprinkled in, who resigned under some pressure. They are in a bit of a confidence crisis at the moment. They're also concerned they don't have the juice to compete with the Texas' of the world in terms of NIL.

Georgia has a bit of A&M in them in the sense they don't have a history of being top dog. They're the flagship program in their state, but they've never been top dog in the SEC until recently. They want the last 5 years to go on forever, and here Texas is coming in interrupting things.

When I compare it to Nebraska, I think of how Texas fans didn't really get how much Nebraska fans hate us. I think most of us on this board do, because we're message board junkies and so we've seen it over the years. But the average Nebraska fan is well aware of how much they collectively hate Texas. Even people who were too young to be Nebraska fans when the two programs played in the 2000s. It's passed down generationally, to the extent Texas is completely and utterly blamed for their downfall. Something similar is true for Arkansas. We collectively don't really care about Arkansas. They're not really on our radar. Whatever "rivalry" there is, is mostly because it's shoved down our throats that there's a rivalry there, so we kind of shrug our shoulders and go, "okay, I guess there's a rivalry." Arkansas fans don't have to do that. They know their hate for Texas is in their DNA, passed down through the womb from one generation to the next. We just don't get that intensity.

Is that possible with Georgia? I don't know. I hope so. I hope Texas puts together a string of wins against Georgia. I hope they have a bit of a downturn in overall talent, and that talent dropoff is blamed solely on Texas. At the end of the day as long as they have Kirby Smart and Smart is dialed in as far as being a college head football coach, I feel like they're going to be fine. He's going to figure out a way to win because that's how he's built, regardless of whatever limitations are put on him. But he's not going to be able to win the same way he did the last 5 years. It's a lot more expensive now, and it's uncertain whether Georgia has the overall resources necessary. You can tell he's angry about that, and the Georgia fans and talking heads are responding in kind. And for Smart and therefore the Georgia nation the boogeyman is Texas.

I just know having Georgia hate us is waaaaaaaay more fun than having Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, and the other little sisters of the poor in the Big 12 hate us. They have a bigger fan base, it's way more passionate and active, they're the flagship school of their state with a lot of resources at their disposal, and they have a lot of recent success. But I view them much the way I viewed Nebraska. It's hilarious to watch them hate us, but I don't think I reciprocate the hate. I just find it all very amusing.

I'll also say if you haven't spent time in Georgia, it's easy to underestimate how rural that state really is. There's a reason people from the capital say, "Oh, I'm not from Georgia. I'm from Atlanta." There can be a big difference. I'm with you on the trailer trash part. But that's the SEC for you for the most part.

Fun Fact, I actually learned this next small bit of preamble during a class at UT. Generally speaking, one common facet of the female attractiveness is the ratio of a woman's different attributes. Chest to Waist, Wasit to Hip, Body Shape, etc. It's called the Golden Ratio, and it's math. It's like 1.6 or something. In class the data shared was that playboy playmate measurements were compared over the last 75 years or some such, and while the weight, shape, and measurements always changed over time, the ratio basically was a constant through the decades.

Why is that important in regards to Sydney Sweeney's amazing, amazing tits?

Because outside of the obvious, that stupid fucking article citied literally aggregate measurements from the lingerie industry that said that the average female breast size is 34 or 36DD. That's right, the gold standard we all grew up with for MASSIVE HOLY SHIT TITS is apparently the national average. How can that be? Because included in that statistic was every fucking disgusting fatbody that most of America deems completely unfuckable, to the point of being invisible except to give me passing feelings of disgust at pretty much every public space I occupy. From my 600 lb life, to just the morbidly obese, to the people who shop at Wal Mart, to just the simple pear shaped lady, it's all included in that average.

So you see guys, her boobs aren't THAT big because America is super super fat, and fat women's massive tit's count too. That's it. That's the article.

Who're you going to believe, guys, you're lying eyes or an article that was ghost written by Vic Mackey or jealous ass Jabette the Hutt?

Yeah. Her tits are amazing because they’re on a tight little 5’2” 115 lb body where about 15% of that weight is on her chest. They would look unremarkable on a 500 lb woman in a cart in Walmart.

I have a Glen Campbell story since I’m old. In the 70’s he was playing in Houston and I was staying at the old Rice Hotel. My great Uncle was Commisioner of the Texas Employment Commission now known as Texas Workforce Commission. My Great Uncle was friends with the owner and he gave him like the grand suite for visits from Austin probably so he never had to deal with employment issues? I think his wife , my great aunt ,was frequently having medical issues visiting the medical center. We would travel from Clear Lake and stay in the suites it seemed like they had 5 rooms. Anyway, Glen Campbell was up at the bar when we were there and we went to meet him. He was rude and didn’t want to be bothered. Didn’t go well. That’s all I got!

  • Are we actually doing this rivalry with Georgia? Because the shit I've seen over the last two weeks is how we end up with a rivalry with Georgia. I don't give a shit about them but if we're all going full regard on the dawgs then so be it. I just want us to go into this with both eyes open because their fans seem to be on Tech's level of annoying and shitty. I would rather not add "Tech, but better at football" to the list of our rivals. Arkansas is more than enough trailer trash for me.
  • 28-30 guys? Really? That seems absurd. Is it because of the new roster rules? We're already so loaded and have retained so well, I just assumed this would be a smaller class.

The frustrating thing about rivalries is that it doesn’t always take two to tango. You just need one fanbase of degenerates to decide to hate you and you’re kinda stuck, especially if the series ends up determining conference and national championships.

So yeah, fuck Georgia. I didn’t come into this conference wanting to hate them. They gave me no option.

From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, the Texas-Arkansas matchup was basically the de facto SWC Championship Game. Both Royal and Broyles won national titles during that time frame as well. Meanwhile A&M had something like nine consecutive losing seasons (except for that one Cotton Bowl win over the Bear they still boast about), Baylor was rarely competitive, TCU + SMU played the occasional spoiler, and Rice + Tech were along for the ride, so to speak.

Things have changed somewhat on the Arkie end.  Gone are the days of Hillbilly U.  They actively recruit good students now.  I was there as a 10 year-old in '69 and witness to horrors in addition to being accosted by a grown ass man who cussed me out.  That never happened at Kyle Field (the aggies were nice to kids) or even Jones Stadium.  But you're correct that Arkie was second in rivalry behind OU.  Hell, OU fans at the fair were nicer to me than fucking Arkies were.  I just don't think the new generation of Hogs feels the same hatred.

Fuck Arkansas!!

I have never gotten over losing to them at home in 1964, and I wasn’t even born until 4 years later. We failed on a 2 point conversion late in the game to lose by one, because DKR didn’t believe in going for a tie (unlike a certain pussy at Notre Dame).

If we make that play, we would have been back to back undefeated national champions. Instead Arkansas and Alabama both claim the MNC that year even though we beat Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

Imagine having TWO back to backs over an 8 year period.

Fuck Arkansas!!
