Probably but, outside of Banks, I just don't see the development/improvement of the olinemen through their years on the 40.

They make the same stupid pre-snap penalties, miss assignments regularly and don't seem to play as a cohesive unit.

But that's just my layman's opinion.

Doubling down on sarcasm, or you serious Clark?

One clip of a player running a route at half speed in warmups really tells you a lot about his athleticism.  Could they not find one of him stretching or maybe drinking water?

Rivals/Speigelman were pumping him up during the week. Here's the closest I could find to live action. From another source.

We've got probably 7 OL currently on the roster better than anything we trotted out for about a decade and a half, starting in the Colt era.  I'm not saying the OL is perfect, but "we can probably do better than Kyle Flood" is the type of comment that fuels the unfavorable Longhorn fan stereotype.

That's a pretty fucking low bar to clear.  I would hope we strive to have a great offensive line, not one that's "better" than the worst lines in Longhorn history.

Everything I said about the oline is true.  We either need better players, coaches or both.

Don’t want to get into an argument here but sometimes the other team has really good players they make plays also. We’re working to get an offensive line that dominates. We can get there, just keep grinding and getting good players. In this era of college football every team is gonna have holes. Even the champions. We’re getting there.

Gerry's posted an in-state top targets by position for the 2026 and an OOS version as well. I've spoilered the OOS version in this post and will do the same in the next post for in-state. For the multiple posters with the attention span of a gnat and the reading comprehension skills of a dead marmot, these are lists of the very best target, in Gerry's view, for each position. Accordingly, these lists inherently exclude other players at each position that will also be targeted.

Also, I like the formatting and I don't give a shit about people using dark mode or apps to read this and you're welcome.

Spoiler

Top out of state targets by position in 2026

The Texas Longhorns staff will be on the road in Texas and beyond the remainder of January seeing top targets in the 2026 cycle. Because of losing a week of recruiting while still in the College Football Playoff, seeing all the out of state prospects desired in person while also making rounds in Texas will prove to be difficult. With that in mind, OnTexasFootball takes a look at the top out of state targets by position - with the understanding that the board could shift and change slightly prior to and after January 25 Junior Day.

Quarterback

Dia Bell, Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage, 6-2, 200 #AllGasNoBrakes
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star

Running back

Amari Latimer, Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek, 5-11.5, 209
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas considered the leader over Tennessee, Miami (two uncles played for the Canes), Michigan and Wisconsin.

Wide receiver

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, 6-1.5, 180
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
What to know: The top spot could also end up being speedy playmaker Naeem Burroughs (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School).

Tight end

TBD.

Offensive line

Adam Guthrie, OT, Washington Court House (Oh.) Miami Trace, 6-6.5, 285
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star
What to know: Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood expected to go watch Guthrie play hoops later this month.

Samuel Roseborough, IOL, Clearwater (Fla.) High, 6-5, 285
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
What to know: Made unofficial visit during the season, and was offered.

Defensive line

Dylan Berymon, Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish, 6-2, 315
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas leads LSU, Texas A&M, Miami and USC headed into January 25 Junior Day in Austin. Kenny Baker loves Tico Crittendon (Lithonia, Ga./High) too.

EDGE

Shaun Scott, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, 6-3, 235
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Attending January 25 Junior Day. Has been on campus three times already.

Linebacker

Tyler Atkinson, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, 6-2, 210
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
What to know: Georgia, Auburn, Texas, Clemson, Tennessee, Ohio State and Notre Dame fighting it out.

Safety

Jett Washington, Las Vegas (Nv.) Bishop Gorman, 6-4, 195
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas and Washington are picking up steam.

Cornerback

TBD because R.J. Sermons (Rancho Cucamonga, Cali./High) committed to USC. He was the guy.

In-state tops:

Spoiler

Running back

Javian Osborne, Forney High, 5-9, 192
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas and Michigan are the top two with Tashard Choice having the ebst position coach relationship.

Wide receiver

Kaydon Finley, Aledo High, 6-0.5, 200
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
What to know: Texas leads by a decent margin.

Tight end

TBD. Likely out of state in this cycle.

Offensive line

John Turntine III, OT, North Crowley, 6-3.5, 275
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
What to know: Texas leads headed into junior day visits

Toa Katoa, IOL, Euless Trinity, 6-3.5, 355

Defensive line

Jaimeon Winfield, Richardson High, 6-3.5, 297

What to know: Originally from Meridian, Miss. Texas and others will have to beat out Ole Miss.

EDGE

KJ Ford Jr., Duncanville High, 6-3, 245
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
What to know: This position could end up Ford or Jamarion Carlton (Temple High) as the true top in-state target.

Linebacker

Kosi Okpala, Katy Mayde Creek, 6-2.5, 220
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas and Texas A&M duking it out with the Horns holding the slight edge. A March or April decision is likely.

Safety

Isaiah Williams, Fort Bend Marshall, 6-0, 185
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
What to know: Frisco Panther Creek's Donovan Webb could end up taking the top spot here.

Cornerback

Jalen Lott, CB/ATH, Panther Creek, 6-0, 170
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
What to know: Texas has a healthy lead. Mom (basketball) and dad (football and track) played at Texas.

I’m still getting caught up on the guys in this cycle, but Bobby and Gerry were showing Javian Osborne highlights the other day, and holy fuck we need to get that guy.

Kyle Flood out at Mater Dei with, I think, Banks and Sark

Edited by texifornia

I don't know if any of the 9.95 sites have put out an updated list but it seems like the junior day next Saturday is going to be loaded. Lots of priority OL/DL confirming with OTF that they are likely to attend.

Looks like Flood, Baker, Banks and Nansen.

Sark and PK were in Temple this morning.

Toa Katoa looks massive. I’m surprised Trinity doesn’t put out more big time trench guys.

Got kicked off his freshman year. Hopefully he’s matured since then, but I think this may be another NS bust candidate.

No way Chase Da Bag will prioritize NIL above all else, amirite?

Looking at his film, he probably needs to be on the Overshown path. Can someone hold on to him for 3 years while he develops? Probably not with his username.
