Who the hell was from Goliad?? Or did you just mean down highway 183 from Cuero to Refugio?

Correct. I am friends with a number of older black women from Gonzales (not Goliad) and generally they know the families from Halletsville, Shiner, all the way down to Refugio. I know that is a huge swath of land (1.5hr drive) but the populations are pretty low unless you include Victoria. The connection is church, and lots of related families.

Cuero and Refugio were machines in the 80s. Absolutely dominant programs.

Refugio was running up the score on teams Spurrier style pretty recently.

both programs do churn out an unusual amount of D1 athletes.  Another school was Gilmer

Gymnastics seems likely.

As it should. Moody would be an excellent venue for women's Gymnastics and there is so much gymnastics talent (Yes, I mean both athletic skill and attractiveness) in Texas that ends up at LSU or Oklahoma. Livvy Dunne obviously crushed it on the NIL front at LSU, she would have made more at Texas. Our corporate NIL structure sets up Womens gymnastics to be second to none....just have to make it happen

Yeah, my kid has dabbled in the periphery of the junior gymnastics scene here in Houston and I was surprised at how serious and organized it all is. But there's nowhere for the kids to go. They all want to go to OU.

I live about 10 miles away from where the greatest gymnast ever grew up. Simone Biles, Hezly Rivera, Kennedy Baker, Alyssa Baumann, Sydeney Barros, Kiya Johnson, Katelyn Jong, McKenna Kelly, Madison Kocian, Nastia Liukin,  Skye and Sloane Blakely,  all Olympians and all call Texas home, hell even Mary Lou Retton lives or lived in Houston. Most of that list went to SEC schools for college and that doesn't even account for the gymnasts that will be drawn to Texas outside of the state. Texas could be a powerhouse if handled correctly

I thought I clicked on the Texas recruiting thread not women's sports.

Yeah, they hire a really good coach and it will all work out nicely.  It's make too much sense not to do it.  CDC isn't a dummy.

I think we have to go thru again with _ayden and then _aydin before we go to Greek. Or maybe it’s simultaneous.

We should probably pivot back to using 247 as the linked page for the recruits since On3 is being stupid about trying to monetize their shit.

Agreed.

247 also includes a scouting report (usually), which can vary in quality and depth, but a plus nonetheless.

Jermaine Bishop, Jr. is one of the best in Texas and he has schools working hard to pull him out of the Lone Star State, but multiple in-state schools are making him feel like a priority too. Bishop, Jr. has 2 visits approaching and he gives the latest: https://t.co/nL7GZkIYAn…

Jermaine Bishop, Willis, Cornerback

Three in-state schools are treating 2026 Texas 4-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. like a ‘top priority’ - On3

The dumb part is that if you go to the team's recruiting list, they still show the breakdown of each player by the various services. So you can still see the aggregate, just not on the individual player pages. It's so stupid.

Some put him in the calculator vibes from Osborne.

Everyone is going to make their push for Lattimore. There’s apparently been some thought that Osborne and the scatback whose initialed name and high school I never remember would be a pretty excellent 2026 class.

If they get a public commitment from Osborne soon, I will take that as a sign that they’re not likely to play the long game to land Lattimore and that extra NIL commitment will be used elsewhere.

That said, it’s worth considering that Lattimore is allegedly an easy #1 on their board. Will be a fun comparison to watch over the years. Sort of like Gibson versus Tatum for the 2024 class. Talent acquisition is never not interesting to me.

To add to this, South at 247 already has a Texas pick put in for Lattimore.

Maybe it's the camera angle, but he looks like someone put KD's arms and legs on a normal sized dude.
