Keenyi Pepe, the 5* OT out of IMG committed to USC today. He still has an OV scheduled here.

Just more of the same out of Lincoln.

I wonder how much money they’ve spent on verbal commitments that end up elsewhere.

or is it all inflated NIL promises now that don’t cost a dime?

I was about to ask that question as well. I think it has been mentioned they are having NIL discussions very early in recruitments comparatively.

We seem to be on a good spot with a lot of DL.  Getting a bunch to OV.  How many are we thinking they'll take?  Three?  Four?

Gerry has been saying 3

He said three, maybe four.  He also said that USC, A$M and LSU's recruiting pitches all lead with NIL.  Which is building a foundation for a house of cards.

247 Composite - #31 overall, #4 Edge.

He's considered an OU lean.

He’ll be back next year, but as a fan after completing his first spring at Texas.

Is it just me or have the number of high school kids with large tattoos exploded over the last ten years or so?

Proof we are recruiting better

Means we are recruiting older kids.  Can’t have a tattoo until youre 18

That's not really true. Some states and tattoo parlors will allow 16 year olds to get inked with parental consent. I think it likely has more to do with societal acceptance making parents a little more lax on the subject.

Not true at all. My high school had some 14 and 15 year olds walking around with tats, just needed to know someone with a tattoo gun. I bet it’s even worse nowadays.

I watched our high school running back get a tattoo our sophomore year in a bathroom at a house party. He went to Aggie so wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

That could have been his best offer. Rivals said he had an OU and Nebraska offer. Still he had a tattoo at 16

Interesting note on USC 247 about Mark Bowman (5* TE), w/ a bunch of quotes from him re: USC.  (USC posters keep asking when he's going to commit, and treat him as a silent commit.)

The 247 writer uses terms such as uncertainly and skepticism to describe Bowman's view of the TE position/production under Riley, at USC.  Riley and Savage (USC TE coach) are trying to use Mark Andrews (Oklahoma) as a comp.. Bowman says - in so many words - that he needs to see it on the field, this season, and he's holding off on making a decision until he sees how that goes.

FWIW - and it may not matter to Bowman - Wiltfong CBed Luke Sorensen (another TE out of Cal) to them last month.

Endries, Washington, Shannon ... Townsend ... 🙏  🙏  🙏.

Kid has to see it on the field when it comes to SC.. but that's not the case for Texas.  I do wonder if Arch will target the TE as much as Quinn did.  I know that nobody was happier for the return of Quinn off injury than Helm..  He got targeted a lot more than when Arch was the QB.. Arch looks for WR running deep routes.

All I care about is I want Bowman, that kid from Jersey, and one of Crowell, Cooper, or Lattimer to go along with Edwards

Counterpoint is that Endries was the top portal TE and we went out and got him. Don't think he came here with the understanding that he'd be a blocking surface.

It was, early this AM. I almost took a screenshot of it but opted to just turn off my phone in disgust.

Our new in-state offers all being somewhere in the process of committing to SMU is pretty funny.
