On top of that, we’ve signed legit blue chips in Wingo, Ffrench, Lockett and Mccutcheon in consecutive classes, so it’s not like the staff is going all in on “under the radar” guys. We’ll probably end up getting 1-2 of the highly rated players in this class, based on recent recruiting, and it’ll be a moot point.

Listen, the guy you quoted is an idiot and I don't expect him to get shit like this, hence him disappearing from my views many moons ago. You're not that, however. There's nothing needing defense coming from the WR room. I'm fucking around with the rating of Brown. Everyone I know thinks the guy is going to be great. Stewart is more of a debate, but he's always just tenuously in this class.

I gotta admit, it’s fun covering (and following) Texas recruiting.

With Steve Sarkisian, there never seems to be a dull moment.

Yesterday is case in point.

Pensacola, Fla., five star defensive end Trenton Henderson surprisingly visited Texas. It was an unofficial visit. And now it looks like Texas will get one of his final official visits on June 20.

Henderson is emblematic of a Texas recruiting staff that just doesn’t take no very easily.

**

Of course, this is not all Sark’s doing. He’s had help.

What’s so promising about Sark’s tenure at Texas is that he continues to build a staff around him capable of recruiting at a high level.

One of Sark’s first hires this off-season was LaAllen Clark, the coach responsible for coaching and recruiting the edge prospects and also recruiting parts of his native Louisiana.

All Clark has done is canvass the country. He’s bringing in just about every elite defensive end in the country, from California, to Texas, to Florida, to New Jersey, to Louisiana and to Georgia.

**

I think what we’re witnessing is the evolution of a program.

Sure, Texas has been very talented the past couple of years. The NFL draft can attest to that.

But some of those key players were also players from the transfer portal.

With Clark and the rest of the Texas personnel staff heading in the direction they are, it feels like the Longhorns will have to rely on the portal less and less.

That’s an evolving program. One that is moving forward and getting better and better.

I really hope Sarkisian is able to bring some titles home because everything else happening with this program right now is off the charts. I always figured that the 2004/2005 rosters were about the best I could ever hope to see at Texas. I no longer think that is the case. The rosters over the next few cycles, if not longer, might be the absolute best in CFB. There are no talent gaps anywhere to be found, only questions about experience and cohesiveness due to NFL departures. Great evaluators, great recruiters, great developers, and every resource that could be desired. Good shit.

Offseason chatter about the roster/starters is essentially gone, outside of one or two spots. Who is going to play nickel, and well that’s pretty much it. There have been times where the offseason talk was like “hey is there a combination of five guys we can put on the o-line who won’t embarrass the university all that much? Also who is going to play QB and TE and DT and LB and…..”

Also we no longer endlessly debating and watching G5 film on what our new O/DC is going to install to fix our offense or defense. While we also discuss how the former blue chip recruits that have regressed will be coached up like the G5 3rd round picks our new coaches had put in the league before being hired by Texas.

It will never get worst than when we were debating what it meant for our upcoming offense and season when a Garrett Gilbert led 7 on 7 team lost to Tx State.

"RC didn't offer" type shit.

Is Howell really saying that A&M decided to cancel this kid's visit because they didn't want him negative recruiting A&M / working for Texas? Sure.

If he's right, this is a fucking indictment of A&M. You know what closers want? They want to be in the room. They want that kid on campus so they can sell him. They think - fuck what anyone else has already done, I'm going to win this kid over. That's 100% what Sark would do and has been doing. Did he give up on Anthony Hill? Fuck no. He went to that dude's living room and closed the deal. If Howell is right, this means that Elko basically rolled over and admitted he can't compete with Sark and Texas. That he doesn't even want to try, because trying and failing would be a net negative.

Born losers. Every one.

Howell has learned from Looch how to put a spin on reality.  It's been known for a few weeks that Carlton has commitment date right after OV's.  Elko pulled a Tony "Duke" Evers and threw the damn towel.

I wonder if Krempin is going to get the "we need to know now or never" bear hug this weekend. They're feeling their oats at every position in the recruiting class, but probably no place more than OL.

As good as he is and this is no slight on him, does Krempin's offer get put on hold for the time being given our standing with: Ojo, Turntine, Roseborough and Lee?

It almost does have that "cream rising to the top" feel, doesn't it?  Too bad, because Krempin looks super to me, but it becomes a numbers game.

Agree. Her filmography is varied and extensive. I think this was the first film I saw with the venerable Ms. Mirren.

Has there been any more info on the house settlement and how that will or won't screw up our ability to out talent 99.5% of CFB?

I saw a ticker scroll the other day saying it had been completed or accepted by the judge but haven't heard anything since.

I think we will get real time input into what it means by watching what Oregon does.

From Wolk on the Georgia 247 site about Prothro, below. It will well and truly suck if Texas misses out on both Bowman and Prothro, both of whom would be awesome fits for what Sarkisian likes to do. I'm cheering for the Heze Kent guy, just because he's such a ridiculous giant athlete, but Texas would take Kent and one of the other two and do different things with the two.

"He just left an official visit to Auburn, and our AuburnUndercover recruiting guy Christian Clemente sent me a very, very interesting update.

The top TE target went so far as call Georgia his leader when talking to Christian and others. He said Auburn’s in that No. 2 spot, but still has the Florida and Texas visits coming up.

For a dude that doesn’t say a whole lot, notable for him to say quite publicly that Georgia is the team to beat."

Max Wright has pretty bad feet. Michigan supposedly had a lot of interest, but personally I don’t see it. Krempin supposedly wants to play tackle. He has decent feet and could do it, but I think his greatest potential is at guard.

We will end up with the most recent TE offer from Cali.  The one who's dad is a UGC fighter I believe.  Bowman to USC sucks, Lincoln will waste the kid.  Pretty sure Bowman was even quoted in the spring about needing to see TE usage from USC.

@RGBIII had some concrete numbers that he'd heard on Bowman and the numbers both defy gravity and logic.

They would rather throw resources at an offensive player they won't even use than a more useful offensive player or, of course, anything on defense.

A team underachieving with top notch natural resources like that is experiencing gross roster mismanagement in my experience.

I hate that the numbers are probably gonna send this kid East on I-10.  Don’t know much about him as a player, but really would’ve liked a big nasty with a closed cage facemask.  Shit is nostalgic 🤷🏿‍♂️
