June 10, 20187 yr .... to celebrate our 51st Wedding Anniversary. The wife got the Bubbly Bar and Hatch green Chilies enchiladas with fried eggs. I ordered the Bloody Mary Bar and Eggs Commodore (with sausage). Excellent stuff, and the place was packed by the time we left at noon.
June 10, 20187 yr Looks good, and props to your wife. If I took my wife to a sports bar for our anniversary, she would kick me right square in the balls.
June 10, 20187 yr Author We are going to Paul Martin's in the Domain Rock Rose district for Happy Hour this afternoon. Mrs. Brat doesn't like to go to expensive steakhouses.
June 11, 20187 yr Cover 3 on Anderson is our go-to dinner joint when we can't think of any place to go.

Cover 3 is more of a restaurant to us, and as I said, she doesn't like expensive steak houses. Last year we had a big bash for 70 guests & family at a party room in that Maggiano's Italian joint - with an open bar. Then afterwards I took her to Vegas for a 4 night stay. We don't put on the foo-foo dog these days. Edited June 11, 20187 yr by Armybrat

June 11, 20187 yr Armybrat: Congrats on the anniversary! Please ignore the idiots. Apparently some of them made the transition from Shaggy...
June 11, 20187 yr My wife loves Cover 3, especially the weekend brunch, where she drops a whole $14 on a French toast and coffee. Meanwhile I start slamming Bloody Marys and nodding at all her stories. Win win. jim

June 11, 20187 yr I couldn't get into the French Laundry one time so I went to Cover 3 and it was better.
June 11, 20187 yr Cover 3 is pretty damn solid. The ribeye tacos are legitimately great (though like $23 so they should be), and you could make an argument they have the best wings in Austin even though they only have a couple flavors. They'll also close during a World Series game, because it's closing time...which makes them not a sports bar even though they market themselves as one.
June 11, 20187 yr Author Paul Martin's in the Domain yesterday afternoon lived down to expectations for the hip & trendy neighborhood. Very average food, shitty service, and high prices. Lots of talent walking around the area though (for you young guys). Edited June 11, 20187 yr by Armybrat

June 11, 20187 yr I'm a big Cover 3 fan too. One of my oldest and best friends is the owner, and he's an awesome dude. I'll be hanging out on the beach in S. Padre w/ him starting tomorrow!
June 11, 20187 yr Author Tell him Cover 3 is a popular spot with our Happy Hour group and also many of my extended family members. And thanks for opening the Round Rock location. He should consider opening another up in the Cedar Park area north of the new Costco. Place is booming. Chuy's even opened a new restaurant there.

June 11, 20187 yr Cover 3 is good stuff, great brunch and burger. Only time disappointed was the prime rib sliders. Rest of the menu has been good to great.

June 12, 20187 yr Their various versions of Eggs Benedict are pretty solid. Another vote for Cover 3 Brunch

I acknowledge I'm in the minority here, but I think bloody mary bars are absurd. I'm paying extra to mix my own drink? Fuck that. Make my bloody mary and give me a plate of shrimp and bacon and cheddar cheese cubes.
June 12, 20187 yr Meh, I don't like tomato juice. So while I love the theory behind a Bloody Mary, I've never done more than taste them when people assure me "OMG THIS ONE'S AWESOME".
June 12, 20187 yr Author Bloody Marys are an acquired taste, and I could've loaded that one with more shrimp & bacon than any waiter would bring on the side.
