He was pretty bad today with his homer shit. Don't understand why they let guys announce games that their Alma mater is playing in.

  • RG3 could yodel into the microphone the entire game and I would prefer him over Galindo

  • I really, really hope Shaq punches Robert Griffin in the face. I don't care at all about WNBA rivalries. I just want to see Shaq slap Robert Griffin's face so hard that it flies off and lands on Emman

He tries way too hard with the cheesy lines, but I think he’s actually pretty good in terms of play breakdown.

Get him away from Mark Jones and he is not that bad.

Got so tired and annoyed with “matriculated the ball down the field.”….ridiculous expression. In the first half.
Then he also backed up the refs on their no-calls during flagrant penalties.

Fuck that homer.

RG3 sucks.  Mark Jones sucks.  I would likely mute any broadcast with just one of them...but both of them?  Fuck that.  Zero chance I'm listening to that.  I had the Craig Way call on today, he made fun of RG3 twice for being a Baylor homer fuck face and overhearing, or not, his bullshit in the adjacent room.

I thought he did well and he was very respectful to Texas and to Earl Campbell at the start of the game

I think he did well with the wives/girlfriends.

RGIII is usually pretty solid, but he showed his Baylor ass today. Bitching about hands to the face on a sack while Baylor held our guys every goddamned passing down was something else. And he didn’t question the pitch/fumble call at all.

Take the loss pussy.

Man, I thought he was pretty even handed for a Baylor guy.  He didn’t seem to minimize Texas when they got rolling.  A little corny and unpolished but a lot better than a lot of the stiffs they got calling games.

He's black Lowell Galindo. Same cheesy lines. Same super cringy fake ass personality.

Only difference is he will break a play down here and there.

Will it get him fired from ESPN/ABC so we never have to hear him call another Texas game?

#122

Damn, hadn't heard that term since before my grandpa passed away.

I'm sure Howard Cossell understands.

So he meant to say "Bug-A-Boo" and this just 'slipped out'.....Riiiiight

Since when does bug a boo mean haters and doubters?

I don't give 2 shits about cancel culture but he's a really terrible announcer and if this is what it takes to get him off my TV then so be it.  But I doubt it...

I have never heard the term bug a boos.

We need equality.  If a white person would be fired for it, so should RGIII.

According to destiny's child a bug a boo is a pest, someone who won't leave you alone

I can see if one of the white dudes said it he should get his ass fired immediately. In the context he said it makes no sense anyway. There was probably more honkies and crackers doubting Hurts would be successfull in the NFL.

Growing in a town full of racists with many racists family members, I’ve never even heard that term before. I guess it shows that town was less educated than the average racist.

I like RG3, and hope he's back next season. He's not braindead like the Tim Brandos and Rod Gilmores of the world and has a more palatable level of "personality" than Pat McAfee. But maybe this'll get him to throttle it back just a tad, which I'd like.

If you're white it's half a step below a hard r.

So... it's bad.

Best I remember from his collegiate days, he was supposed to be very intelligent. Wasn't he considering law school and wanting to become a judge at one point?

I tend to tune out the analysts when watching games unless they're just blatantly biased. I just hate seeing a guy lose his job for saying something idiotic.

Y’all are reaching. I literally had no idea what that word even meant. The guys on set were likely just as oblivious.
Not even an RG3 fan, but come on

The j word was bad before the n word was bad.

Earlier this year during a Thursday night game the white ESPN pbp guy proclaimed that the Louisville QB, Malik Cunningham, was "shuckin and jivin" his way down the field. I was curious to see what would happen so I followed the guy on Twitter. People were tweeting at him and at ESPN so he/they were definitely aware. Crickets. No apology, no acknowledgement. Seems like sop in these situations is hope no one really notices and it goes away.

Yep it's bad, REALLY bad.

I haven't heard that phrase in about 60 years.

#141

It’s not even used in the “proper” context because he’s talking about doubters of Hurts who would most likely be white. Who knows what he was actually trying to say as his clarification also makes zero sense. I have a hard time caring, we’ll see what cancel culture has to say about it though.

#142

RGIII with some throwback bigotry! Sucks for RGIII as I dont think thats what he meant to say, but if it gets him off the air, we'll call it progress and move on. He sucks. Also I guess recognizing that term is further validation I'm an old.

That term is a racist term whether you have heard it or not. Being oblivious to a racist term doesn't make any difference. It's been phased out in most vocabs but the meaning didn't go away. I honestly didn't know there was that many people who didn't know about this word. It went viral as soon as he said it.

I kind of like him too. He generally means well and just tries too hard sometimes with his commentary, which is driven by the incentive structure to stand out in that profession. His line after Roschon hurdled the defender on the way to the end zone in the Baylor game as a “Johnson on Johnson crime” was a good one.

This is yet another term or thing that I have learned to be racist that I had no idea about. I am 56 and grew up and still live in NE Texas.

Oh yeah I have heard it. Does anyone else remember this scene?

Don Imus said it in reference to this movie in his stuff about the Rutgers women's basketball team that got him fired. It's been out there.
