Just booked my trip.  I'm going up Saturday evening and coming back Wednesday morning so I can see the first two games.  Only hotel I could get was Quality Inn in Council Bluffs, but fuck it I'm not planning on spending much time there and it looks convenient to Downtown and the ball park.  I really wanted my daughter to come with me she is a big Horns fan and is the only one who will go to the baseball games with me.  She was with me for the regional and the final game of the super regional.  Unfortunately, she has a summer program that starts Monday morning and I can't find any flight that will get her back in time so she could at least see the Sunday game.

Any advice from the CWS veterans?  Should I go ahead and try to round up tickets or wait until game day?

Definitely wait until game time for the 2nd game.

And Council Bluffs is a super short drive. My 1st year in 2002, we stayed in Omaha but ate lunch at one of the casinos in Council Bluffs (and we gambled of course). I think it was the Harrahs.  It turns out that the Miami Hurricanes were having their team meal at the casino too at the buffet. It was our impression that the team, players, coaches were all staying at the casino. Classic Miami.

I'm a cheap mother fucker for most things and the quality inn is right next to the bus line downtown.  I'm down for a ten minute bus ride.  It can't be worse than riding the city bus in the Dominican Republic.

The more I think about this the more pumped I'm getting.  Playing piggie just makes it even better, they are they only fan base that even come close to my hatred for Okies and they are so sure that beating us in some early season midweek games means they are going to kick our ass.  Fuck them.  I want to know which dugout they are going to be in so I can get tickets right behind it.  I am going give them shit until they get back on the bus crying like twinkle toes from ttu.

i tried to get my oldest son to meet me in Omaha for this (he's a UT plan II graduate), but he already has plan in Vegas with his friends.  I checked and UT is 15-1 to win the CWS so I told him to put a hundred on it for me.

Fuck I'm pumped, did I say that already.

Texas has been in 10 Super Regionals (2000,2002,2003,2004,2005,2009,2010,2011,2014,2018)

Texas has won 9 Super Regionals (all but 2010)

Texas has won the first game 5 times and won all 5 of those Super Regionals (4 by sweep)

Texas has lost the first game 5 times and won 4 of those Super Regionals  (Never been swept)

The overall average for winning a Super Regional after losing the first game is 21% (stat does not include 2018)

Texas wins 80% of the Super Regionals after losing the first game

I don't know why anybody was ever worried about winning our Super Regional

This is a good post and you should feel good.

Yeah, staying or eating anywhere in Council Bluffs is reasonably close to TDA. The airport is very close, but I would expect those hotels/motels to all be full. Plenty of eating/drinking spots near TDA, and I guess that’s a big difference from Rosenblatt.

Omaha has some good steakhouses, but they’re a bit different than Texas steakhouses. A number of them are Italian steakhouses (I like Cascio’s. The owner likes Texas fans and used to have several Longhorns team photos on the wall). Whiskey-soaked steaks are a popular item in Omaha.

I always enjoy my time in Omaha, but there may still be some lingering butthurt from husker fans.  Check that...there WILL be some lingering butthurt.

I'd like to put in a rec for Jackson St Tavern. Enjoyed that place last time I was up in Omaha. Good steaks in a relaxed bar vibe. You can just sit around and get hammered too, which is what we did after dinner.

Upstream in the Old Market is really fun if you like beer and the microbrewery vibe.

Family-friendly too.

Oh, fuck that pretentious overpriced place.  The two best bars in Omaha are Barrett's (when not overrun by LSU morons [pardon the redundancy]) and Dinker's.

Aggy at table next to me at sushi place, "Yea Texas made it to the CWS but they didn't play anyone to get there." I guess he was 1/3 correct.

Pearce will wear #16 tomorrow.

We could have played Davidson.

well today is the damn day we have seen a top team go down with basically a one inning complete meltdown early in the game and a game that surely wore both teams down more than they wanted and we have seen another game that was a 1-0 game

based on that it looks like it is open season so Texas needs to go out there and play a complete game and show they came to take care of business

Pierce!  Get beers, Pierce!  Bring beers Pierce.  Three cheers for Pearce!

Glad to see he wore #16, Vinny was telling the truth.  Cool move.
