So, as posted before, we are looking for a new to us house.  One we looked at recently was pier and beam, but had had repairs (also had cupped hardwood floors).

When we got the disclosure notice and a foundation repair report, there had been lots of piers put under the perimeter beam and almost nothing done within the interior of the floorplan.

I am aware of the advantages of pier and beam in that most "repairs" are effected by shimming the beams over the piers.  In one instance, we saw a house in Casa Linda where the repair was effected by chipping off the tops of the piers to actually lower them (wut?).

But extensive piering of the perimeter beam is a new one to me. Seems . . . less than ideal.

necrobump, but depends on how the house was framed.  Could be the interior walls see little/no load and everything bears on the exterior.
