This for sure.  He was a great open field runner so was rarely in the position of making a choice between a direct hit, or sliding to protect himself.  He was amazing at taking a couple of side-glancing blows and slipping out of bounds.

Definitely remember this.

It was remarkable how, for as much as he ran, it seemed like he never got hit.

Flipped over to the ou game earlier, saw Gabriel slide a couple of times. It seems like he waits until he's in a tight crowd to slide, maybe that's just due to the camera angle though. They need to make the rule that these QBs can only slide when there's no one within 5 yards or so. You either give up sooner or you take a hit.

Bump.

ksu qb slides very late, two longhorns very dangerously collide with each other trying to avoid hitting him and drawing a penalty.

the slide rule created the dangerous contact in this case.

Eliminate the entire rule. If you don’t want to get hit, don’t run

Serious question.  Does anybody ever remember Vince Young.....sliding?  I mean I am sure he must have at some point right.

He might have slipped down, but I don’t recall any of that bullshit feet first surrender. He most likely dove forward.

Yep, it’s a bad rule. QBs have more than enough protection.
