I would put the Braves above the Mets right now. Correa is not locked in yet, and that's a lot of new players that need to build a locker room presence to be a successful team. Mercenary teams usually take a while to get.

I’d put the Rangers at #1 because nobody should care about power rankings period let alone a pre-season version in January.

Devers has a lot of leverage against Red Sox management since they fucked so much previously. They are going to have overpay to make up for past sins

Sox fans aren't as forward thinking as we are.  They would revolt.

I believe they kidnap family members and hold them hostage until the team friendly deal is signed.

Braves have been working wizardry:

I mean, the difference is obviously the years of team control at the time those deals were signed. It’s not apples to apples.

But yeah, the Braves have used that leverage well. Well I guess it remains to be seen, but right now they look smart.

Sure it’s not apples to apples, but is the buyout of two more years of team control worth a discount of $90M (adjusted due to the add’l length of Devers’ deal).   It’s a really interesting comparison.

Does anyone sign him? If only Jeff Luhnow was running a team.

I hope not, but I bet somebody will. Maybe not immediately, but he’ll probably resurface. But perhaps the fact that, not only does he like to beat the shit out of women, but that he’s always been a detestable dipshit, who lacks an ounce of humility and whose teammates have generally hated him, will ultimately push teams toward letting him rot.

So essentially him being socially awkward douchebag will outweigh him being a psychopath. Got to love sports.

Ha, perhaps, but I was thinking it may be the sum of all his loathsome attributes.

Per annum it isn’t, and he could still get paid for the seasons after this contract if he’s still healthy enough. Plus the “pending physical” note. At what point do you not report this until after the physical is accepted and the deal actually done?

What kind of condition causes your leg to fall off in 7 years?  Does he have leprosy?

Lol i know these have been done for Judge to SF and prob Correa to SF but they get me every time

#594

It would be fitting to the Correa saga for him to tell the Twins “Thanks but no thanks. I’m going to Boston”
