December 4, 20223 yr Sounds like Taylor will be out for a while. Vic said she would be evaluated "weekly" Still no update on Hunter...I'm surprised she's still on the roster at this point
December 5, 20223 yr After almost 50 years of watching I just thought of something. 😋 Do cupcake teams in women's college basketball get any real $$ like cupcakes do in football? Edited December 5, 20223 yr by Fuga can't type for shit
December 6, 20223 yr Unsurprisingly, Texas fell out of the AP top 25 for the first time since Vic's first year here.

Well, we are who our record says we are. Today. But the team looked better last time and with a lot of new players working to get on board with Vic's system it's going to take a while. But you can already see Shaylee, Sonya, Hadi and the freshman looking more comfortable, strangely enough though it's Holle and Moore that seem to have regressed a bit. Wish Jones wasn't going to be out, would like to have the whole team learning together and she is a very important piece for us if she can stay on the court. (not including Kyndall under "whole team" anymore)
December 11, 20223 yr Even in a blowout, Vic will probably get on the team for not winning the 2nd quarter

December 12, 20223 yr Yeah tears were flowing in the presser about Aaliyah Moore. Hopefully she can make a speedy recovery, but it did not look good
December 12, 20223 yr Team is snake bitten with injuries. Just seems like it's going to be one of those years where nothing goes right with injuries.

Watching that and seeing how upset the team was you have to give them massive credit for continuing to play at a high level after AMo went down. Yeah, doesn’t look good. 49 minutes ago, Rickylovesweed said: Team is snake bitten with injuries. Just seems like it's going to be one of those years where nothing goes right with injuries. It's been a rough one. One of those wins that feels like a big loss. Still hoping for the best though. Dammit.
December 12, 20223 yr Gaston named Big 12 POW for her 20 point, 16 rebound game. First Big 12 player of the 2022-23 season to record a 20+ point, 15+ rebound game and the first Longhorn to do so since Charli Collier. Her first weekly POW honor. She had 1 FOW honor in 2020-21.

December 14, 20223 yr Tomorrow is the AISD field trip game at 11am. Jackson State is probably the best team in the SWAC, so couple that with Texas' injuries I could see a very competitive game.

I guess they aren't doing the field trip game this year.....the tradition died with the Erwin Center. RIP

December 14, 20223 yr The box score seems to indicate that Holle and Mwenentanda aren't playing in this one. Are they out with injury too? Geez, how many players are out right now?

December 14, 20223 yr No idea but this team is snake bitten with injuries and whatever is going on with these 2 today. Do they only have 7 scholarship players available today?

December 15, 20223 yr Kyndall Hunter just posted a very nice video on her Instagram about being a guard for Texas and about playing for Vic. Hope is alive, we could use another guard about now. Kyndall Instagram
December 18, 20223 yr This is really ugly but the first game I've said this "looks like a Vic Schaefer team." This is kind of what he wants. Defend, force turnovers, and ugly the game up. USC doesn't know how to handle this pressure defense.
December 18, 20223 yr This team is beat the fuck up but this is a solid win against a 9-1 team. Vic’s team just has to mature and gel and get Jones back healthy
December 18, 20223 yr Think Schaefer might have found something in that game. Harmon, Gonzales, Holle, Muhammad/Faye, Gaston lineup is really long and athletic. They can defend as we saw today. The only issue is ball handling.
December 18, 20223 yr Texas went on that run in this game with Morris on the bench. I think Schaefer needs to stagger the minutes between Gonzales and Morris. They don't need to play as many minutes together because neither are really defensive players. This team is at its best when they're defensive minded and create offense from turnovers.
December 20, 20223 yr Author Crème has us as the play-in game in this latest bracketology! (Still way to early but it’s slow round here)
December 20, 20223 yr I don't even care. Teams don't go from #1 seed to play-in game because they lost a few in November/December without their starting PG. Vic's team will make noise late. They always always do.

December 21, 20223 yr Gaston showing some nice moves, Hadi pulling down boards, Masudi getting some time. HC severely over-matched. One of those games where you route for the opponent to score at times. If Mulkey doesn't play this team, she should give them a look.
