Tied at 75 with 4 min. Buckle up

okie lite player fouls out, but their coach arguing she only has 4 fouls...

giphy.gif

okie lite leads 77-76

2:10 left.   Refs are killing Texas momentum with this long delay.

smdh

Defense was just a disaster tonight

Texas loses 86-82

Womp

Remember when folks made fun of okie lite's new WBB hire Jacie Hoyt...  She did ok in her first game against Vic

DAMN IT !!!

We’re toast without Aaliyah Moore. Combined with “Texas rules” officiating, this season feels like a wash

These young blonde coaches love to fuck with Vic

Yeah Vic is coaching with a battered roster, plus B12 Refs are "really giving it to Texas on a nice send-off to the SEC"

Yeah, I know that I have "burnt orange glasses" but it sure seems like Vic really gets screwed by B12 Refs quite a lot on away games...

That loss to OKST kicked us out of the “Receiving votes” category in the AP poll. We’l probably be a bubble team again when Charlie Crème updates his mock bracket tomorrow

At this point we have no signature win. We face KU and ISU this week, both at Moody

Damn. Too many injuries this year.

I thought she’d be a huge problem when we didn’t get her. That sucks

Texas (11-5, 2-1 Big 12) vs No. 23 Kansas (12-2, 2-1 Big 12)

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 – 7:00 p.m. Central

Moody Center – Austin, Texas

TELEVISION: The game will be streamed Longhorn Network with Alex Loeb (pxp) and Andrea Lloyd (analyst) on the call.

RADIO: The game will be carried on 105.3 FM in Austin. Craig Way (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. The broadcast will be streamed on TexasSports.Com.

TRIPLE-DOUBLE: Sophomore All-American Rori Harmon became the fourth player in program history to record a triple-double when she scored 17 points, dished out 11 assists and added 10 rebounds in the Texas win at TCU on Jan. 4. SCORING INSIDE: Texas has a 646-380 advantage over opponents this season in points in the paint. Khadija Faye is averaging 11.8 points per game and 9.6 rebounds a game over her last five games. DeYona Gaston is averaging 15.6 points per game over her last five games. Gaston ranks second in the Big 12 in field goal percentage, making 57.6 percent of her field goals on the season.

FORCING TURNOVERS: The Longhorns are forcing 22.7 turnovers per game. Over their last four games Texas has forced 142 turnovers and held a 162-39 advantage over opponents in points off turnovers. Texas ranks 9th in the NCAA in turnovers forced per game and 12th in the NCAA in turnover margin.

NCAA RANKS: Texas leads the Big 12 and ranks 9th in the country in blocked shots per game at 5.6. Shay Holle has blocked two or more shots in four games and has 12 on the season.

Texas is 11-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference play following an 86-82 defeat at Oklahoma State on Saturday. The loss at OSU snapped an eight-game win streak for the Longhorns, who are 7-1 in their new arena, Moody Center, this season. UT defeated Kansas State 87-41 and TCU 81-69 in their first two league games.

Kansas is coming off its first loss in Big 12 play following a 75-62 defeat against No. 23 Baylor on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks are now 12-2 on the year and part of a four-way tie along with the Longhorns for second place in the league standings at 2-1.

Against Baylor, Kansas was led by Wyvette Mayberry, who had her second-highest scoring game as a Jayhawk with 19 points. She added five rebounds, two assists and one steal in the game. Holly Kersgieter and Chandler Prater added 11 points and Zakiyah Franklin and Taiyanna Jackson combined for 17 points as KU’s starting five accounted for 58 of the teams’ 62 points against Baylor.

Jackson along with Rori were named the Big 12 Co-Players of the Week on Jan. 3

Great Interview. Talked a little about the men's team.

Presser Nuggets:

Last game made good plays down the stretch and weren’t rewarded for them (cough..the refs sucked)
Texas gets everyone’s best game
Not an X’s and O’s issue but how hard you play.
Got to play harder, have to communicate on D – had players guarding air.
Getting our lead shot blocker back but hard to pull Hadi out the way she is rebounding.
Different skill-set with this group, we can score the ball but gave up 86 which was not ok.
His 1rst year team didn’t get it until late in the year
If we had other teams’ non-conference schedule, we’d only have one loss (cough.. Mulkey)
Praised the men’s team and Coach Terry.

Still can’t hear the dang questions.

Yeah, a big issue with Shaylee and Sonja. Sonja came from a program that was defense-optional.  There was a point in the 2nd Q that OSU was just driving the lane without even being touched or contested.  The freshman weren't particularly great either, which is why Jones subbed in late in the 2nd Q for the first time in a long time.

Our effort was piss-poor on Saturday.

As mentioned, we have a HUGE opportunity to pick up 2 top 25 wins this week in KU and ISU - both at home, ISU's starting center is out and Vic has always schemed ISU very well.

18-11 Texas after 1. Morris has 9 of our 18

1 minute ago, TommysTinyTowels said:

Morris was hot, hate to see her pick up 2 quick fouls.

While loeb or whomever is celebrating that her second was on her and not Jones.

Just now, TommysTinyTowels said:

Vic having to play the two freshman right now, dangerous time

Holle, Gaston and Morris all have 2 fouls

And 3 on Faye

Huge FT disparity in KU’s favor

41-29 Texas at the half. Much better defense than OSU game

Edited by Js1

Kansas 10 points from the line.

We are shooting 58% from the floor, Kansas 36.4%

Biggest issue we have is Hadi with 3 fouls but at least Taylor is available for limited minutes.

I don't know where Creme has Texas but they are nowhere close to being a bubble team.

They're #13 in NET.

Playing lazy with turnovers and too much hands defensively

Lead down to 7 from 14. Lazy and missing bunnies at the rim. Fucking frustrating how sloppy this team can be.

Faye and Gaston can’t get anything to fall. And 4 fouls on Faye.

Boy this game turned quickly

Jones!

But this team has a similar problem it had early last year - too much pressure on the inbounds and then opposing teams have an easy score when they go over the top

Laziness! Texas trying to stretch the lead and then an easy turnover and layup for KU

Props to Sark for being at the game.

Crème’s has Texas as one of the last 4 byes.

Ain’t no reason to worry about this in January. Big 12 is strong and we are only 3 games in

54-47 Texas to the fourth

Jones posting up outside the arc?  And we try to pass it to her?

these girls just go through the motions with some of these passes without thinking.

And there is no reason Texas would be a last 4 bye at #13 in NET. Go and look at the top 15 teams in NET last year and I bet none finished below a 6 seed.

Shaylee is taking over the fourth quarter

Time to stretch this 13 point lead with 6 min left

4 minutes ago, TommysTinyTowels said:

Shaylee with 22 points. 9 for 13

24 now. We are just living in her world this game lol

Texas once again goes on a major run with Gonzales and Morris not playing together.

Those two really shouldn't be playing together at all. They are too similar and Holle does other things that neither of those 2 can do.

Wtf is Loeb talking about? Faye has 4 fouls. That’s why she hasn’t been on the floor.
