Though I guess maybe it's not the highest ranked non-CFP, since South Carolina went last year instead of Alabama.  But we've never played in that bowl, so I would be surprised if they didn't want us.

It definitely seems to be the overwhelming consensus:

I haven't seen any meaningful counterpoints to the 5 reasons.  Without Bijou Rodman, Texas doesn't even have a team.

The Citrus Bowl gets to pick any SEC team which is not selected for the CFP.  Can't imagine they would not pick Texas, even over Alabama if it somehow didn't make the CFP.  Interestingly, the SEC then assigns teams in bowls after the Citrus however it wants, so there's no real way to know which teams go where at that point.  So, it would not be a guarantee that Texas would be assigned to the Gator Bowl if the Citrus didn't take it.

Bowls are 100% money and ROI on Texas vs Michigan is going to be as good as it gets outside of CFP... and if crazy time happens, Duke wins and 2 G5 get in well... Citrus bowl is gonna blow out a couple of CFP games in viewership and attendance with those 2 teams.

Appropriate?

Steve Spurrier Quote: “You can't spell Citrus without UT.”

No. Spurrier sent Tennessee to the Citrus Bowl repeatedly. We'd have to go there a couple of years in a row for that to be apt. I see that the TexAggys are using this lame tongue to lick their wounds after the beating last week.

Plus, this is a solid bowl matchup that I'm interested in watching. Since it's another marquee game due to the helmets, we will probably pull more viewers than the Aggie playoff game unless they get a big-name opponent. Seriously, who will watch A&M vs Virginia?

I'd rather be in the playoff, but outdrawing them would be amusing against their claims of having arrived.

They're under the horribly misguided belief that JFF 2.0 is a more compelling story than a match up of two of the top 5 all time win blue bloods with the most recognizable helmets in college football. Easy mistake to make, as they are clearly run by aggie.

Gonna be really hard to top the all-time worst bowl in history, the 2018 TCU-Cal Cheez-It Bowl.

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/12/27/18157269/cal-tcu-cheez-it-bowl-2018

This was one of the best games in all history. Including TCU putting in a QB who  had legit drop foot in for a designed QB running play and the announcers even saying this out loud. The recap on this is outstanding. So many INTs.

If Georgia beat bama does that mean we are in?

If Surly gets a committee seat, yes! Bring on Texas, UNT, ODU and boot  Bama with ND if needed.

Otherwise I bet the room isn't pro Texas jumping a second B12 team or the ACC completely.  Blocking Texas and Miami is probably the bigger leverage to get to 16.

I hope you guys didn't buy your Orlando tickets just yet. We might be going to Tampa or Jacksonville instead based on Bama sucking ass.

I thought you told me there’s no chance the SEC will let that happen. Roll eyes gif.

Who are you?

Is there any chance we play ND or is Michigan the lock as the highest non-playoff B10 for Citrus?

USC has to go to the Alamo Bowl. They're stuck with their old Pac 12 contract. This is the final year.

We're officially in the Citrus. We were ranked 13 over Vandy at 14.

Not beating the bleating vagina allegations.
