February 9, 20232 yr Re: Milwaukee, SIAP but checking out the Harley museum might be kinda cool for Lil Shep. Check out the Milwaukee Public Market I gotta disagree with 3Putt on the stadium this summarizes my feeling on it (and selig)
February 9, 20232 yr Don't think brewers will be playing when we go. I looked into tours and they offer one called the Selig tour

February 10, 20232 yr Loving the f selig energy on this page. I'd never set foot in the usurpers' stadium until we're back in the NL!

February 10, 20232 yr Not sure if this increases, decreases or has no effect on the likelihood of Tucker doing an extension. Maybe he decides his long term demands aren’t realistic. On the other hand, maybe he’s pissed off. Or maybe it doesn’t make a shit.
February 10, 20232 yr Probably doesn’t make a shit. I’m sure he/his agent have an idea of what it would take from a years/dollar perspective, regardless of the arb result.
February 10, 20232 yr Based on my understanding of what Brown has been saying, money has not been the issue, the number of years that Crane is comfortable offering has been. If you offer Tucker an eight-year deal, I bet he takes it.
February 10, 20232 yr If the arbitration thing makes a difference he was never signing again anyway. Players know this is the system, it's one they negotiated. It just is what it is. Frankly I hate the system because it pits you against your own players in trying to downplay them. But at this point it's almost 50 years of "is what it is". The gap is big, but I also think it was somewhat intentional to get him to sign a better long term deal. It may have backfired, and now that the Astros won, maybe not because it could be more incentive to just get it over with and sign a long term deal and get that money back

It's been a few years, so i may be mistaken, but I think Bregman lost his arbitration case right before signing his extension. Put me in the it-don't-make-a-shit camp.

Put me in the it-don't-make-a-shit camp. It was the year before arbitration and the Astros were going to pay like $640k for that last year (which Breggy didn't like). then they signed him to the bigger deal: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/astros-third-baseman-alex-bregman-have-reportedly-agreed-on-a-six-year-100-million-contract/ I'd assume we'll see the same with Tucker. If he signs a long term deal it's year over year will be much higher than what he's getting this year.
February 10, 20232 yr They can always add on to it. I like his future a whole lot, but I'm not ready to lock him for 10 years just yet.

February 10, 20232 yr Author Maybe I’m Richie rich, but that doesn’t seem like a hard hit to the pocket book. Every mlb would take that deal for Javier
February 10, 20232 yr I said we should offer Javier 5/50 a couple different times. 64M is sort of a big number considering he’s got 3 years of arbitration left and the baseline he’s starting at is 3M. That essentially means his arb is going to cost about 20M, so they gave him 2/44 sight unseen. That’s a pretty fair deal both ways. I love it. If Brown is as good as I think he will be then that keeps the competitive window open through 27. I think I’m going to love the new GM. Good for a Javier too. He locks up generational wealth and is still a FA before 30.
February 10, 20232 yr probably backloaded the shit out of that deal like we did with Alvarez. He was only seeking $3.5 million in arbitration so this was probably an easier deal to make. Tucker will be more difficult since he wants more years - but he's even better at his position.
February 11, 20232 yr Nice deal, very Atlanta-esque. Lock up young talent for years to come, and spread the cap hits among many years to provide more flexibility. Let's hope Tucker and Valdez are up next.

February 11, 20232 yr I am engorged over the Javier news. He has the potential to supplant the Verlander as my third favorite Astros pitcher of all time behind Nolan and J.R.
February 11, 20232 yr "The deal is for $64M per" I'd pay it per year. Well not really, but I always get a kick out of the tweets chop it off there with just the source's twitter handle on the next line. Same thing happened with Yordan's extension... $150MM per year? Fucking worth it.
