Down in the SW corner of Colorado we are in day 12 of the 416 fire.  Currently 24,000 acres in size and 15% contained.  Horrible drought in the area this year and the fire is moving into difficult terrain so it's very much a situation of controlling the burn as best a possible in regards to structures which the Firefighting team has managed thus far.  No structures or injuries. If it keeps moving in the expected Northwestern direction it could merge with a second smaller fire which is around 1,000 acres.  As well, Purgatory Resort is north of it's location and currently is the base camp, but could be threatened as well.

The San Juan National forest is now closed for the first time since it was designated a national forest over 100 years ago.

The fire is felt to likely burn well into July.

Saw there was a fire near Silverthorne, too. That's some high dollar real estate.
