pretty incredible that America recognized the threat that was of packing state SOS's with election deniers and that we effectively stymied the GQP's plan to steal the next election. can't believe we pulled that part off (or kept them from pulling it off)

It’s really interesting to me, because the Democrats clearly saw something in their late polling that reflected this. Biden Gabe two very late prime-time speeches on democracy to the exclusion of really every other issue.  I thought that was weird.  But now we see that it had to be in response to what they were seeing in their polling.

Dems did a masterful job in the senate elections. We are very likely going to have 51 seats. A plus one result. They took a lot of heat for not supporting Beasley in NC and Ryan in Ohio, but I’m not so sure we would’ve won in Arizona and Nevada if we were spread too thin on the map. Beasley could’ve conceivably won, but McConnell threw a ton of money at Ryan’s race to make sure he lost.

Barnes almost pulled it out. Ben wikler is very good at what he does in Wisconsin. There’s a crucial state Supreme Court race up there that we need to win in 2023. Getting the Wisconsin Supreme Court is the only way we could break that egregious gerrymander where Wisconsin republicans lose statewide and still pick up 66% of the seats.

We need to end all of the bipartisan redistricting commissions that seem to only exist in blue states. We go easy on the repubs in California  and New York while the republicans go in balls deep on us in Ohio, Florida, and nearly everywhere else they control.

Wasserman thinks only 5 truly competitive seats left. Arizona should be done counting ballots by Tuesday I think. No idea how long the California races might take.

Another week, maybe 1.5 weeks

While Dems should be celebrating the overall results, there is the sobering truth that they barely won many races in which the GOP put up some of the worst candidates they could find. If the less-horrible candidate has won the GOP primary, this could be a different result.

the point being that the Dems shouldn’t take these results as approval from the US public.

Whoever it was that we put in charge of stealing elections needs a damn good raise.

I'm grateful for the +1, but I was really hoping for 52 so we can tell both Munchkin and Dangerous Creature to go fuck themselves, repeatedly.

Speaking of which, have you gotten your Soros check yet?  Maybe my direct deposit is messed up.

The races Voldemort just posted are all listed as favored for Dems.  This list assumes Boobert won, damnit.

There is 8% inflation. Gas Prices are high. It’s harder to buy goods and services. Biden’s approval rating is 39%. Yet the Democrats had the best midterm results in 20 years. Why? Because while men would rather save a little more money in their 401K, the majority of young people and women decided voting for abortion rights was a little more important than a few bucks

Yeah, I think everyone gets that.

But when inflation is 10%, the stock market is down 25%, the bond market is down 15%, and Biden’s approval is under water; this is a pretty damn good result.

Is the MAGA vote going to stop voting for shitty candidates in the primaries? If yes then there is a possibility they can get some indies. Keep running out Bolduc, Masters, Lake, Palin, et al and I like our chances. If MTG was anywhere except a heavily favored district she would be out. Boebert is hanging on for dear life. These are deeply unlikeable people. Except to the MAGA voters that chose them and continue to choose them.

When you count the gerrymandering that's happened Dems should be fully in control of the House, so I believe the approval is there.

LMAO...

This capture the Surly Trumpanzees to a T?

I think it was @Aqua Buddha that called abortion the dark matter that binds the universe together. Blaming Trump and/or Establishment R for this is to ignore what brought out a lot of women.

Oh and they just don't hate on Uncle Joe enough.

Fuckers. No it's because you're assholes and bitches.

The abortion referendum in Michigan was the reason Republicans got wiped out.

Yeah.

Not getting Ron Johnson out of the senate was a major miss.

52 with him out of national politics would have been amazing.

He is a garbage person.

JD Vance in the Senate is also a huge downer.

Man the people of Ohio would have been better served with Tim Ryan. Just a better person, a better rep, and probably gets better committees than whatever the fuck JD is going to get.

Yeah, it’s starting to stick out in the polling but the Dems have over performed in every election since Dobbs as compared to the VA governors race, for example.  It’s like bringing Handmaids Tale to life didn’t resonate with the American people…..

This isn’t going away, either.  This will continue to be an electoral anchor on the Republicans.  You hate to see it….

This also goes back to a long term trend of people simply lying about their true beliefs except to their very close circle.  If you’re a liberal surrounded by conservatives, you keep quiet and vice versa.  The VA Gov race was a good example.  Left leaning voters didn’t like whatever was going on with the schools and it didn’t show up in polling.  Abortion is that on steroids.  Lotta “pro life” people have different secret opinions and that seems to be apparent in some of the voting.

Hasn’t seen that before. Is it more creepy when trump commented about the sex appeal of a teenage Ivanka or the future breast size of an infant Tiffany. Or is the answer just Yes.

The core party members sometimes select the candidate on a strict litmus test. Yes or no, zero in between. Whether it’s abortion, gun rights, school issues, whatever. When in reality, most people’s opinion fall in the middle.

a good campaign will exploit their opponent’s unwavering stance on an issue where many are moderate.

Yes the problem with the Republicans is that they were not insane and unreasonable enough.

Do you forget these close electoral wins are in spite of unprecedented structural disadvantages?

The people have spoken. This election is a much bigger mandate than 2020 was.
