I figured there'd be a NYC thread but didn't see one scrolling down and tapa search turned up nada.

Will be in NY next week and have read they now have a few credible bbq joints. Naturally skeptical but want to hit one up if anyone has recommendations

Hometown bbq is the gold standard in NYC.

Fette Sau is hit or miss
Mighty Quinn’s is a good chain and has a good beef rib.
Dinosaur for ribs and wings, avoid the brisket
Morgan’s is hit or miss
Fletcher’s is decent
Hill Country is hit or miss. Mostly miss lately.
There is a kosher bbq joint somewhere in Brooklyn. I forgot the name. Heard it was good albeit salty.

There’s nothing worth checking out if you have daily access to real BBQ. There’s only “somewhat OK” to “passable” in my experience. Nothing worth planning your day around or trekking out to parts far away for.

Not doing a bbq tour, just looking for a place to hit for lunch one day. Hometown it is.
