January 5, 20232 yr Curious when he was identified as the suspect?? Surprised they weren't able to get his DNA earlier in Pullman somehow...
January 5, 20232 yr affidavit says cell records show him in area of murder scene, in the late evening early morning, 12 times previously.

I had a lot of faith when they said the BAU was involved. Naturally, people will panic. I think what hurt LE early on was saying there was no danger to the public and then walking it back. But the FBI BAU and their tactics were spot on. They had him nailed early on. I wonder if he stashed the knife somewhere or threw it away. I wonder if he took off work around the killings. All sorts of stuff we will only learn at trial. It would be great if he’d just plea NG in exchange for not getting the DP. It’s still a bargaining chip and these assholes are still afraid of being put to death. There is hope that possibly this could still happen. I’m more concerned about the families and the two surviving roomies than I am about his fate which was hopefully sealed for good the moment he entered that house and began killing.

January 5, 20232 yr Fuck the trial. Just take this piece of shit to an undisclosed location, let family members and whoever wants to join in on the fun torture the fuck out of him and leave him to rot dying in some fucking nameless field.

I would assume his adrenaline was pretty high after the act…that might have played into it a bit. The loop he took. I’m guessing he’s never murdered before this? I mean I’d probably take a look at any other crimes with a similar MO or missing persons just to be sure.
January 5, 20232 yr This feels like the kind of crime that the guy would definitely take a trophy from the home, if not something personal from each victim.

I was thinking the same thing. So that was Kaylee’s room (where the two girls were)…I know one had pink cowboy boots in the window—almost like marking your room from the outside. I would be surprised if he didn’t bury or stash the knife and also take something from at least the Kaylee’s room. The boots were still there so those weren’t taken but when I saw them in multiple shots of the scene thought he probably took something.

You could search for a year along that route and never find the knife. And here in a couple months when the fields are plowed its gone. This is what he was driving through for about 70 miles.

Probably figured there were less cameras along that route and lower chance of being spotted overall (rural 2 lane highway versus 4+ lane highway with lots of businesses). Since he's the type who thinks he's smarter than everyone else, he thought this route would evade detection, not realizing he already drove past a billion cameras in both towns. He's probably a member of Mensa and brags about it.

January 5, 20232 yr It's been interesting to hear the earlier discussions of his so called "intelligence" and now watching the info come out on how he was identified as the "alleged killer". BK just seems more like a "village idiot".

I love this scene from Body Heat where Mickey O. tells William Hurt that there are 50 things that can go wrong in committing a crime and if you can think of 25 of them you are a genius, and he’s no genius.

He turned it off for 3 hours starting in the Johnson, ID area: Quote Additional analysis of records for the 8458 Phone indicated that between approximately 5:32 p.m. and 5:36 p.m., the 8458 Phone utilized cellular resources that provide coverage to Johnson, ID. The 8458 Phone then stops reporting to the network from approximately 5:36 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. That is consistent with the 8458 Phone being the area that the 8458 Phone traveled in the hours immediately following the suspected time the homicides occurred. Edit: I guess it doesn't show if he stopped the vehicle, but I bet they are searching the shit out of that area. Edited January 5, 20232 yr by smuggs

Yes, the day after the murder 11/13 his phone pinged near Kate's Cup Of Joe in Clarkston, WA @ 12:36, and at an Albertsons in Clarkston 10 minutes later (both stops also confirmed with video). Then later in the day he pinged in the Johnson area and that's when his phone shut off for 3 hours starting @ 5:36pm. Edit: Actually day of the murder - 9 hours later. To make a frame job fit the dots that we know so far, someone would have had to: get his DNA and put it on a knife sheath to leave behind take his car and his cell phone on the night of the murders turn the cell off on the way there and on on the way back Make him unaware of his car/cell being taken, OR make it impossible or uncomfortable to report it. Either know about his 12 stalker-like visits to the area, or take his cell phone (and probably his car) and visit there 12 times. Give BK a reason to have his dad come out and escort him across country Spin the Infinite Improbability Drive and we have: Maybe BK had a secret gay lover who was jealous of his obsession with one of the girls. BK can't finger the real killer without coming out of the closet.

January 6, 20232 yr How to commit the perfect quadruple homicide by aggy 1. Visit future crime scene 12 times with phone on, but turn off during the murders because you haz smarts 2. Take a huge detour driving home on backroads, even though your car is already on surveillance videos leaving your home, driving by the murder scene 3 times right before the murder, speeding away after the murders, and arriving back home 3. Leave a knife sheath containing your DNA next to a victim 4. Leave footprints 5. Be seen by a witness leaving the house after the murders 6. Furk, you left the knife sheath...return to the murder scene 4 hours later to see if you can retrieve it
January 6, 20232 yr Say he didnt leave the knife sheath with his DNA behind. How would this investigation go? Cops still track the Elantra to his WSU apt based on surveillance footage. Cops use this to get suspect’s name. Cops subpoena his phone records and find cell hits on the towers near crime scene. All of his phone records look suspicious, but what if there is no knife sheath DNA at the crime scene? Are the phone records enough to get an arrest without the DNA?

I wouldn’t think so as there’s nothing (known to public) linking him to crime scene without the sheath. I don’t think the surviving roommate saying she saw the intruder will hold up in court. Defense will argue that she was in a sleepy haze or possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They’ll also ask how she could be so sure of the time that she saw him. And the whole angle of being petrified seeing this guy yet not calling anyone for hours afterwards doesn’t look too good.

I bet they get some fiber matches from their room or some of their hair in his car or apartment.. Also I bet he didn’t throw away the Vans. Stabbing four people to death is going to transfer stuff too small to see with the naked eye even if you throw your clothes away. It could be dog hair. That stuff gets everywhere. There’s probably some still in his car. edit I realized this is not what you asked. But I still think they would be able to tie him to it definitively if they got a warrant. January 6, 20232 yr Oh, and about that sheath. Never prove it but that’s probably why that fucker came back at 9am. Realized his sheath was missing, panicked, and wanted to try to get it back. That was probably the mother of all sinking feelings.

My question is that if there was no knife sheath with the DNA, would this investigation be strong enough for an arrest based on just the car video surveillance & cell tower records alone without physical evidence tying him to the crime scene?
