I'm about 100 miles from pecos and it was pretty strong here. entire building shook, windows rattled. People were yelling.

edit: probably lasted about 5 seconds or so. Long enough for me to walk over to the window, and then out into the hallway.

Drilling that drains water wells and causes earthquakes is a really good idea.

Why do you hate Texas?*

*Note: I know nothing about plate tectonics or oil extraction and reserve the right to take back my snarky comment if fracking has nothing to do with this.

We've had small earthquakes where I live and a nearby fracking holding pond is currently in the process of draining my water well.  I have no doubt what the cause of the problems in my area is.

Our building was shaking in Austin (4th floor). Thought I was dizzy at first but then saw things moving/shaking. That was a first for me.

Edit: Supposedly the third strongest earthquake in Texas history.

They apparently evacuated my building on the TxState campus, though I wasn't there and didn't feel it at my house.

I've never felt an earthquake, or if I did I attributed it to something else. Why do y'all get to have all the fun?

Tell it again!

Was wondering why dog was freaking out

I didn't feel a thing on the west side of Austin.

This is a common problem for me.

I worked on a project in LA for a few weeks many years ago.  They had a minor (by their standards, not mine) quake on my second day there.  Lots of snickering about the badass Texas guy who probably overreacted a little bit when the building started shimmying and shaking.

Your wife tells me its a problem for her, too.

Who was the badass Texas guy?  Did you ever meet him?

I thought South Austin's Mom felt a little more lively there for a few seconds.

Sounds like folks that felt it in SA/Austin were upstairs in tallish buildings.

Yeah but think of all the profits those oil barons can realize! What's a negative externality?

For the rest of my short stay there most people called me EV.  Earthquake Virgin.

We’re all having fun here, but as an earthquake virgin, I was on the 40th floor of an office building, and peoples drinks started sliding off of the conference table.

And my office, how it’s shakin, at the bank in Loving County.

I wonder if it will affect San Soloman (Balmorhea) flow or caused any landslides in Guadalupe Mountains

Has the Houston Tourism Board contacted you yet?

Brisket's already checked in to the thread. Otherwise I’d suspect he had stopped at an allsups out there

I don’t think he’s capable of going north of 4.0 unless he stacked multiple flatulence inducing  meals on top of each other.

I thought that it was the neighbor's mule scratching its back on the corner of my trailer again.

I'm pretty sure I would have reacted like this.
