On the one hand, I'm tired of these live action remakes. On the other, Michael Keaton paired up with Burton again + Danny DeVito and Eva Green. So we're not featuring Timothy and the kids are taking his role?

Is Burton allowed to make a film not featuring Depp or the fight club chick?  Not a fan of the Disney princess live action remakes because their stories are boring, of course my 7 year old daughter says tough shit Dad now go buy me some popcorn.

He broke up with Helena Bonham Carter so doubt she'll be in much of his stuff going forward...... Kids are going to love this movie.

I have the same reservations about this that have already been posted here.

I will also absolutely be paying to see this in the theater. No doubt about it.

welp, i don't know what the surly hater contingent is thinking on this one; it actually looks pretty good

Am I going to be scared as shit with the acid trip scene again like I was when I was little?

I was not expecting to cry today.

The sound of Dumbo ripping over the crowd at the end kind of got me.

Didn’t even know he was with HBC. What happened to the hot brunette he was married to?

It’s burton, so yes.

Although, I don’t recall the boat scene in Willy wonka being nearly as... intense...as the original.

This.

Watching it again with my kids for the first time was quite the eye opening experience.

these complaints don't seem super applicable on this one.

They aren't.  I thought I said this looked good, but I guess I forgot.  I enjoyed the Jungle Book, but found the Cinderella and Beauty and the Beasts reboots kind of boring.

Hungbo?

Imagine it Tim; nobody could rip on you for all the rehashed movies you've made lately. There'd never be a TV show that pointed out that you have never had an original idea since Beetlejuice. And, you put Johnny Depp and all the same crappy music in every film. And if you're that in love with Johnny Depp, then you should just have sex with him already. A TV show could never say that!

The RS article on Depp probably deserves its own thread.  It's a hard read

Yea...I agree but I don't think it was as depressing/sad/damning as all the commentary said it was before I read it.

Yeah, it sounds like there's stronger forces at work there than just hash and red wine

Looking forward to seeing this movie about one of Vic's dates.

Here's hoping dumbo straps a couple of mini guns to his ears and goes on a murderous rampage.

So Tim Burton partners with Quentin Tarantino on this film?

New trailer:

Looks too Tim burtony.  But they knew what they were getting with him, so that must be what they wanted.

Live action Dumbo directed by Tim Burton out in March.

Live action Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie out in May.

Live action Lion King directed by Jon Favreau out in July.

I will absolutely see all three, but wow.

He's dead to me after fucking up Dark Shadows. Could have been so dark and cool.

Looks very Big Fish to me.  Matter of fact, DeVito is the circus master in both movies.  If Burton can rekindle the magic of that movie by using Dumbo as a platform, this could be really good.

That looks very disturbing. Not sure I want to sit through that in the theatre.

Looks incredible, will kidnap a kid to take to see this so that I won’t come off as a perv.

You think kidnapping a child will help you not look like a perv?

As long as we get the psychedelic scene after Dumbo falls in the booze barrel, I'm in.  Fucking nuts the shit Disney used to put into their kids films back in the day.

Depends on whether or not wine coolers are involved.

Ok just saw this with the family. They actually did a version of this scene in what I thought was a pretty cool way.

Also, the visuals were great from start to finish.

They threw some girl power in there, but it didn’t take away from the story as far as I am concerned.

It’s not scary, but with Burton’s style and some of the music behind it, I’m sure there’s a couple of scenes that feel a little nerve racking to kids.
