Ever been to a Baja 500/1000? If so do tell!

Love Baja 500/1000s! The coverage/footage/tracking of vehicles is insane nowadays!

Love watching Baja documentaries/coverage. I blame Wide World of Sports. Thank you Roone Arledge.

Never been as a spectator. Looks like a good way to get killed.

Love off road racing. Dakar, Baja and WRC. Used to race dirt bikes so I love old footage of Barstow to Vegas and those Mojave Hare Scrambles.

Crewed motorcycles a long time ago for both the 500 and 1000 with Bel-Ray oil.  A hurricane came through one year and wasted the course, causing vehicles to be delayed 10 to 12 hours due to the carnage the storm wreaked on the course. Was total turmoil. At the time our rider was leading the U500 class, but his bike died from dust on Laguna Salada. We were in the extended Dodge  Bel-Ray van. Problem was, a lot of teams were using Bel-Ray banners to mark their pits, but after 8 to 10 hours those crews left to get some shut-eye.  So we would have these tired, starving riders running on fumes pulling up to the van requesting assistance. We did what we could, but we only had fuel/tires/parts/food for our two riders, so we would go scavenger hunting in the empty/abandoned pits nearby  to try to help them out. Interesting trip.

Never been, but I love watching the Baja and Dakar rallies, and anything WRC. Peter Solberg & Seb Loeb ftw.

I want to watch a Reno to Vegas race.

Wow this sounds wild! I’m always amazed at the endurance of those Moto/Quad riders.

Tons of good stuff on YouTube filmed with GoPros and good cameras on peoples phones etc:

This is the kind of stupid shit I did. For fun.

My grandfather raced Baja 500 for Nissan several years. My uncle was his co-pilot for part of his racing “career.”
