Going out to the relays Friday. Question. I see GA tickets for sale, with row numbers. Where do they put GA folks at the Relays? None of the maps show GA.

I've gone over for UIL state championships and last year's NCAA championships.  Every time it's show your ticket to get in the gate then sit wherever the hell you want.  Ain't nobody checking anything once you're in the stadium.  We did GA tickets for the NCAA's and sat about 2m off the finish line 10 rows up.  Got to get there early though.

That third leg was incredible.

2nd leg was no slouch his ownself.  On top of this race there were two or three other national season's best marks in various events set at the same meet.

Duncanville 40.47 at the Texas Relays.

And 39.73 in the finals. That would have been the new high school national record two weeks ago.

New Women's 4x200 WR just a couple hours ago at the Relays. Old record was apparently set by the US team in 2000. Mrs. Wood (no pics) was out there.

Here’s the 4x200m WR race from Texas Relays. Dina Asher-Smith, Rhasidat Adeleke, Lanae-Tava Thomas & Julien Alfred clocked 1:27.05 to smash the previous WR of 1:27.46!!! It’s not the best angle, but it’s the best footage there is at the moment. 🎥 Texas Track Dad Podcast (YT)

I only post the UT/Collegiate results in the UT (Other Sports) track and field thread so as not to derail it, but the HA time from Victor Lopez would've won the collegiate division (which UT won btw).

Tech had that 4x100 won easy until their anchor tweaked a hamstring with about 10m left to go.

Let’s think positive as I plan on going.

It's working so far; HA ran 39.90 to place first (District 21-6A) in the 4X100m with Galena Park NS just behind at 39.98 (a US #3 for 2024). The 100m was HA's Watkins and Ross of GPNS going 1-2 at 10.22 and 10.45 respectively. Watkin's time was a new US #5 for the season. Area up next.

If you all will indulge me a proud dad moment, my daughter's 4x400 team finished 3rd at area last night and will advance to regionals for the first time in school history (centex 5A school, opened in 2009 so not that big a deal)

Congrats!  Area meets are such a beat down. Coming off the adrenaline of District and looking forward to Region.  Area seems to “get in the way.”

Little Nigel won District in the 100m, 200m, LJ, and 4x100.  Area is Friday, all in one day.  Survive and advance is the motto.

Our school has a pretty darn good discus thrower that won the area meet last week at 172 ft beating the second place dude by four feet.  The guy that threw 168 ft last week to finish second... yeah, all he did today was chunk it 192 ft to win the regional.  I'm pretty sure he got on the juice this week.

I'm gonna be there.  The TX State finals is an incredible event.  I enjoyed it way more than the NCAA Outdoor Championships last year.

Well, they made the last seed in the final, started in lane 8, and finished 4th. My daughter ran lead-off and handed off the baton in 2nd-ish place. They won’t advance to state, but that was a great year for the team with 2 frosh, 1 soph, and 1 jr (my daughter). The team will all be back next year for another go!

Atascocita wins their Regional 4x100 running a swooft 39.68.  North Shore was 2nd at 40.12.  Over in Region 2, Duncanville won their 4x100 at 40.53.

#126

Our discus dude got the "at large" spot for state, so good for him.  He would have won Regions III and IV and come in 2nd in Region I.

Despite getting blown out and finishing 3rd yesterday, he's beaten the guy that won our region every other meet they went head-to-head.  The second place finisher and he have been back and forth all season.  He's probably got as good a chance as anyone to win state.

Sounds like your kid goes to Leander Rouse?  Not a bad showing.

Pole vaulting in a mall?  We should get Barton Creek Mall to do this during the Texas Relays.

After a 10 year hiatus the Drake Relays Pole Vault returned to Jordan Creek mall and vaulters dazzled fans. KC Lightfoot wins the men's competition with a jump of 19' 4 1/4". 2nd best jump in the world this year. Bridget Williams wins the women's vault, 15' 4 1/4"

We do summer pole vaulting at the state fair in Indiana - HS level.  It's a pretty cool way for the kids to get some exposure that they wouldn't otherwise.

UIL state championships start up Thursday with 4A / 3A.  Friday is 5A/2A and Saturday concludes with 6A/1A where all eyes will be on the boys 4x100 with Atascocita v Duncanville.  Katy Tompkins and Galena Park North Shore also in that race which should be a doozy.  Looks like the weather is going to be pretty damn nice for Friday and absolutely perfect on Saturday.

Four teams went sub 40s in the 6A boys 4x100. Atascocita 39.14, Duncanville 39.47, North Shore and Katy Tompkins were the other two.  Melanie Watkins ran 10.19 in the 100m and 20.60 in the 200m.

These kids put on a show today.  Too bad the fucking internet stopped working in the stadium right when they were getting started.

Duncanville’s 4x200 team beat the national record previously held by The Woodlands by a full second.  The star teams showed up today and had some big performances. A ticket to the UIL State Championship is about the best $16 you will ever spend.

Fort Bend Marshall's boys 4x100 clocked a 39.88.  Not bad for a 5A school.

TXST DB commit William Mitchell took gold in the 100, 4x100 and 4x200.  That's a pretty good day.

Safe to say I am officially a 3 TIME STATE CHAMP 10.43 in the 100 4x1 39.88 and the 4x2 was lethal #ringme #gobobcats

There was a girl from Edinburg that won the 6A 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m with all three races run in one day. Not only did she win, she whipped the shit out of everyone else.

Girl from Boerne Champion almost did the same in the 5A finals. She set state records in the 3200 (10.11.40) and 1600 (4.41.36) and came in 5th in the 800. She's only a sophomore.

On the Greyhound side (4A), girls high jump top spot was taken by Kendall Lemm at 5'8. She tried for the state record at 5'11 but missed all 3 attempts. Guess I'm definitely in the olds now as her her great-aunt was a Boerne High classmate of mine.

Florida men repeat as national champs and Arkansas women match their indoor national championship.  The Arkansas women's 4x400m relay team was freaking stacked this year.  They set a new collegiate record in the Regionals then went and shattered that record by another four seconds (3:17.96) in the national championships.  They also went 1,2,3,4 with all four women going under 50 seconds in the 400m individual race.  It was the first Super Sweep in NCAA history.

EUGENE, Ore. — Five for five.

In the 43 years that the NCAA has sponsored women’s championships in cross country and track & field, no female distance runner had ever claimed five national titles across a single academic year. That is, until Parker Valby won the outdoor 5,000-meter title at Hayward Field on Saturday. And because this is Valby, she broke the meet and collegiate record as well, clocking 14:52.18, a slight improvement on the previous NCAA record of 14:52.79 set by — you guessed it — Parker Valby at the NCAA indoor championships three months ago.

Won XC, indoor 3K and 5K, and outdoor 5K and 10K.  Missed the olympic standard in the 5K by 0.18 seconds.  Only a junior but expected to go pro.

A little further down the pipeline, but there’s a girl from Boerne who’s setting national HS records as a sophomore.

Elizabeth Leachman did it again! The Boerne Champion sophomore downed the former national 5K outdoor record on Thursday at the Texas Relays, clocking a winning time of 15:25.27 against collegians! The former national record was 15:25.93.
